Not only because he can, but he should! I always hear about the academic excellence there, but can someone please tell me how smart was that deal that ND decided to give to good ole Charlie? I guess book smarts and common sense just don't find each other attractive.

People thought the same thing last year about Florida vs Oklahoma in the championship game. They said Oklahoma would put up too many points on the Gators. Well, the Gator defense had something to say about that. Alabama defense looks even better than that team's defense this time last year. The O doesn't mean a thing if you can't get to your receivers and the running backs are locked down. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!

Is that more of Blount's fault that the jerk that provoked him wasn't looking, or was it the jerk's fault for provoking him and then turning away? I don't defend Blount's actions, but a lot of you think that you would have taken the proverbial "high road" on this one. I think not. Furthermore, I think that that kid would have been punched had he continued to look at Blount. So it wasn't like he sucker punched the guy, the fella turned his head at the worst possible moment....lmao

I see trying to have a conversation with ignorance is...in fact...ignorant! Therefore, after this post, I will no longer provide incentives for your fodder. I am a Mississippian. Perhaps you should sharpen your reading skills. Although I am a Mississippian, I won't go so far as to call it great. It is last in every major positive category (ie, education, wealth, etc) and leads the free world in every negative category (ie lack of education, poverty, etc). So sing Dixie, lil man. Be proud of the horrible image and perception that you and your kind (your kind being ignorant people) has placed upon the beautiful state of Mississippi. After all, it is a free country!

wow...I get censored for putting 3 k's together while Scrubber is allowed to fill up 5 pages with hate and non-sense...way to go T&R!

lmao....you, sir, are the idiot of the year! Is this what the new **** has come to? Going on sports blogs spreading their hatred? Hiding behind computer screens? At least skinheads are brave enuff to show their faces and/or state who they are. lol...how old are you, kid? You seem immature and highly ignorant. But before you get your panties in a bunch, let me reassure you that ignorance is not an insult to you. It means that you simply don't know a lot. lol Of the billion of you racing to the egg, you had to be the fastest, hunh? I hope that you are the last of a dying breed in the gene cess pool. Please, if you are a father (or mother...you do act like a girly-man at times), don't teach your children the hate that you spread. They don't deserve it. If it's too late and you have taught them this mess, then drive your whole family to Waco, Tx and do a live re-enactment of the Davidian branch episode so that we won't have to worry about you anymore.

You really believe that hunh? lol I won't stoop to your level, but where did you get that I don't like America? I was born and raised here and I've served 13 years in the United States Marine Corps defending your rights to post this trash. Every bone in my body is dedicated to this country...so please try again. Right about now, with the economy the way it is, it would be nice to get all those things that you listed, but I don't ...so sorry to shatter another one of your misguided, racist, stereotypes. I see that you have thrown off the pointed hood and started hiding behind the keyboard. You are a disgrace to many white people. Stay hidden behind the computer. You are safe there! lmao

Who's hating? The only person on here who has said anything remotely racist is scrubber. So what it your point? Furthermore, by calling myself African-American, I'm deserving of being treated differently? Does that mean I'm not proud of being an American? You are correct in saying that *you* can sing or say whatever you want, but the issue is that Ole Miss is a public/state institution. They can't say or sing whatever they want. If it was a private university then this matter would be mute. Ole Miss can't expect to continue getting grants and funds from the federal government (most state institutions do) and demonstrate offensive behavior. Just because it is not offensive to you, doesn't mean it's not offensive to others. And let's not get ignorant, there is a difference here. It's not like maybe 2 to 10 or 15 people are being offended...we're talking about entire cultures. Am I offended by the song, not really...but a significant group are if this has made headlines.

your true "colors" are showing, eh? lol
Posted Wednesday November 04, 2009, About: Ole Miss may drop fight song
These "true" Southerners you speak of never worked the land....slaves did. They never toiled in factories..because there were no factories in the south at that time. And eking out a nice living is the understatement of the year when a majority of white families in the south at that time were living good because of cotton and tobacco. They had free labor, so how could it be considered they eked out a living? The more you post, the more uneducated you seem.

See scrubber....not all white people in the south are racists. Great points TOliver.

I am taking up a donation for the Eradication of All Ignorance foundation. You, sir, will be the first recipient of benefits! lol Your comments are ignorant. Not all blacks blame the white man and not all whites in the south are racist.

Hey, I know Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are not liked by many (even black people), but people like them are needed. I agree that they need to sit down sometimes, but they do keep a lot of entities honest.
Posted Tuesday November 03, 2009, About: Ole Miss may drop fight song
Who are the "they" that you are referring to my friend? lol See, this is the point I'm making...you may not come out and say it, but I'm sure if we put this statement to the objective test, any reasonable and sane person would think that you are talking about black people (rappers, singers, etc). Its the same with the Ole Miss fight song and the "southern pride" term...these items may not spell out it's deep rooted hatred, but it's there. People who live in the area/region know full well what those things mean. Some of you proponents of the term may dress it up, but there's still a bit of ugly idealism underneath.
Posted Tuesday November 03, 2009, About: Ole Miss may drop fight song
Like I said earlier, if the song and "pride" thing don't offend you, then that's fine. I don't put my beliefs or force my opinions off on anyone else. However, those subjects do provoke the "spirit" of racism in the south. I can only speak for the average person that this offends (note: I didn't say everbody that this offends). I don't judge people by what stories I've been told. Furthermore, those stories are not stories, but facts of life for people back then. That's something that can't be ignored.

UlTroyFan, my point is...the officiating was horrible! I agree with all the comments on that end. However, it seems like you (or whoever I was quoting) was insuating that should the SEC team go on to win or even get in the BCS game, it was because of the bad calls that were made. Now my counter to that is that bad or not, those calls should not affect the outcome of the BCS title game, because those calls were made in an interconference game. Those calls only affect the SEC. I'm sure that if both, Florida and Alabama , had lost, they would still have a valid chance to get to the BCS game depending on how the other teams below them fare.

what a lot of people fail to realize is that Lincoln wasn't exactly against slavery either (although many blacks praise him, few know of this either). Lincoln loved the idea of a United States moreso than he did slavery, so in order to save the Union and keep the states together, he decided it was time to let slavery go.

As to why it is offensive to want the old south to rise again...it's offensive because you are basically saying that you want slavery back along with the era that has made this country look terrible. If that's what you want, then it probably won't be offensive to you. If you are against slavery and that ugly period in this country's history, then it would be offensive. I'm not saying your beliefs are wrong..I'm just saying that it is offensive to some.

well, if a name short for Black Cassanova offends you wnter sux, then I guess all is well in hitlerville?
Posted Tuesday November 03, 2009, About: Carroll changing USC's scheme
lol Let's call it now so we won't hear it later...if the SEC wins the national championship game (provided one of its teams get in), it's because the bad SEC officiating caused it. Although the horrific officiating was against another SEC team, which will have no direct effect on any other team outside the conference, the refs will have won the BCS for the SEC. Oh wait, I get it now...you just want Alabama or Florida to go down so the second party in the BCS will have a better opportunity against a non-SEC opponent? I think I read you loud and clear now! lol

I love how some of you love tossing the word "thug" around. It's apparent that you don't know what a thug is. Just because a couple of college kids let their emotions get the best of them and do something that they would be less than proud of, that doesn't qualify them as thugs. I do agree that there are some thugs playing ball, but to label every one that throws a punch a thug is unreasonable. I also know that some of you use it for "other" meanings directed at "other" kinds of people, but learn the terminology that you are using before throwing it around. If any of these kids wanted to, they could go through the pains of finding out who you guys are and sue for slander/libel.

That is the first problem, River1075...you are not from the South , so you will never understand. The folks that are from the South and who don't mind this song are more than likely white; therefore, they won't understand. I am from the South, I am black, and I am from Mississippi. I know from firsthand accounts told to me by my grandparents what the South was like "back in the day" and I for one would never want to see that part of my beloved region rise again. I know people are getting too sensitive nowadays with the political correctness, but this is one step in a positive direction for Mississippi. So I expect a lot of you to not find anything wrong with the song...and truth be told, there may not be anything wrong with it. But the reaction that the song garners has a racial undertone and it's undeniable.

Just my two cents for the day...

~ Clausen is good...not a domer by any stretch of the word, but the kid deserves credit
~Blount was stupid for going at the crowd, but his action against the kid who taunted him was no different a reaction than what any of us prolly would have done in the situation. It's easy to say u wouldn't do that from ur keyboard. The kid doing the taunting was stupid for turning his head away from someone he's pissing off. lmao
~It's true (not exactly breaking news), USC still gets media love. Look at all the teams that are dropping out of the rankings after losing to teams that they were SUPPOSED to lose to...USC fell only a few spots after losing to a team it was SUPPOSED to beat!
~Spikes made an awful judgement call on the field, but is far away from a thug....that just sound like Gator hater fodder...lol
~USC should be out of the rankings right now. No way they should be a top 15 team.
