Of course Nash is miffed with Porter and his system. At this point in the season, Nash is used to being at least 6 more wins ahead of where they are...! All this work, and for what result? #8 in the playoff race, and that too 'maybe'... The end result for the season is already made: they know they cannot win the championship in their current state.

Nash is looking out for himself both as a player and beyond as everybody does. I'm sure he would want to finish his career with a ring, so chances are slim that he would return to the D'antoni 'rebuilding' fold. Likely he will take le$$ to play for a contender while he still has game. (Toronto is definitely out.)

San Antonio won't mess up a good thing by adding the ultra-soft Carter.
Houston - Matching up ultra-soft Carter with a delicate T-Mac again? It may work for half a season, but I don't see it working long term. (similar to the Toronto episodes with both of them).
Dallas - Now Mark Cuban likes to mix things up. He's big on taking a gamble. (the Kidd trade), but Jason Kidd wouldn't be happy at all...

Carter can score, but he's usual AWOL during crunch time. The Texas teams need to be concerned with finishing, unlike the East teams(minus Boston, Cleveland and Orlando) who need to worried about their players playing for the full 48 minutes...

vince didn't even make the all-star team this year... -Heshould NOT have made it last year either.. His star is falling, and fast.

The Nets know they made a boo boo by giving him max money last Summer. They will actively look to trade him over the summer at the latest as he is costing them $$$ and opportunity.

For now (before Feb 19 deadline) the Nets will maintain the status quo to build the skills and chemistry between B.Lopez and D.Harris.

Save London England for the Summer Basketball withOUT borders games... Logistically, it just does not work. NBA Players are not machines. They need their rest too. There is just no way to fly a US team to Europe, play a game and fly back in 2 days.

Start a new NBA-Euro league or something; then playing across continents would be a different issue.

Each visiting US team would be in Europe for at least a 7-10days, playing all the Euro teams and then heading home.

And I'm sure the players union will have something to say about it.

Phil Jackson himself recently said (re:Lakers going 72-10) any teams on the East or West cannot meet the physical demands of cross country travel. That's why Chicago (central) had such an unassuming advantage. Either direction you fly, it's only 3 hrs.

Marbury's lost the love of "the GAME!" There was a time when players played for the love of 'the game' and paid little attention to politics, contracts etc.

If he still loves the game (as he has been quoted earlier this season (upon the signing of D'Antoni), then he would have relished any minutes he was given.

So, what do you do with a guy who has lost his love of the game?

Punish him? - keep him locked to your organization.
or
Dump him? - Buyout his contract (which cannot exceed $21.9M. ). This would free him to sign with any other team; he would get a little burst of new life, but he has still lost of the game... after a few weeks, it's back to square one.
or
Both? - Let him site (and fester the organization and himself), and then dump him.... Depends on how vengeful Donnie Walsh really is... -And business can be quite a tough pill to swallow.

By "Making him a starter", they are raising his ridiculously low value, in the hopes that some team (that has not paid any attention to the NBA news in the last year) will sign him.

Even the European teams don't want him.

If they can, they can send him to the D-league. (Thanks vaughn9) This gets him out of their locker room; either way they have to pay him. But at least it will get the message to him that he's NOT calling the shots in NYC.

vince who??? (note the lower case)... vince carter is the last person who should talk about being aggressive. Now if you want to teach someone to play soft, make the highlight reel every night (ie win the battle, lose the war), then vince is your man.

No one should be listening to vince carter. Listen to your coach, assistants, team-mates, therapists, anybody... but not vince carter.

-none of that happened. Proves that good players don't automatically make good GM's/ Front of office staff/ execs. ...ahem... Jordan...

But look on the bright side... he is better than Darko (#2 pick!)
