What is Briere's major problem in the NHL? Defense....and what offensive position has the most responsiblity on defense? THE CENTER....Briere cannot play defense well enough to be a center. Winger he had a much better +/-....It will probably work out that Briere will be on the wings, but when the play develops he will roam around the offensive zone as the "center", but when play transitions back to the defensive zone he will be the winger....to take the onus off his terrible defense....Richards is much better at playing the defensive center spot then Briere....plus Richards and Carter are not #3 line centers....someone has to move into a spot on the top line....Why not the new captain?

A stud MLB? Stewart Bradley looks like a keeper at the starting MLB....Remember he's only in his second year....so he's only bound to get better game by game....I have no problem with MLB....It's our offensive line that scares me this year....Runyan, Thomas - both thinking retirement soon....Andrews with his mental issues....then there are the other two spots...Herreman's is ok....but Jamaal Jackson....he's looked shaky in the preseason....

The commissioner is targeting the ridiculous salaries the unproven drafted players are making for the next CBA.

Lito is a very good DB....when healthy....Like it was pointed out before he hasn't played a full season since 2003....FOUR SEASONS since he's been able to play 16 games.....I'm not saying I expect every player to play every game, but 4 seasons in a row he hasn't been able to play. Grant it he missed only one game in 2004, but the other three he never played more the 13 games...

Eagles need a playmaker that stays on the field....Samuel's played at least 15 games a year (except for 2004 - 13)....

Sheppard should play out the contract....and go from there...Considering all the time he's missed - he's being paid pretty well for the games he's does play....

Lurie should NEVER address issues like Sheppards....it makes him sound so freakin' dumb....You're the owner....you pay people to address things on your behalf....USE'EM.

What if the Flyers traded Upshall, Knuble, and a defenseman?

Who will be our 7th defenseman? It can't be Parent, it'll slow his progression....Eminger? He was just told he'd get more playing time then in Washington....Vaananen? Possibly....We all know it won't be Coburn, Jones, or Timonen....they're the top three....

Who fills in the 2 missing forward spots? Shanahan would be a good fit on the PP....but who takes Upshall's spot?

I swear the Phillies CANNOT play good baseball until they are chasing someone ahead of them.....Last season they played their best ball when a few games behind the Mets.....It seems like every single time they are 2-3 games up on either FLA or NYM....they tail off and the offense goes into the tank.....like the last 2 weeks....the offense has sputtered....Rollins, Utley, Victorino.....all of them, with the exception of Howard (to a point)....cannot hit...

They may need to shake the lineup up and move a piece or two to bring in a player who can get singles, doubles, a walk when needed....

The Phillies need something to get that offense rolling again. They addresses the need for a pitcher. Mike Arbuckle said they are looking into adding a bat to the roster....Why not Holliday? It makes sense....Jenkins is strictly a bench player. Werth has proven he can play everyday, when Victorino was hurt.....I like Victorino, but a shakeup has to happen on this team.

The Phillies are close...Possibly to a championship....Blanton and Holliday could be the missing pieces that get this team to the World Series and possibly a parade in Philadelphia.

They have to start taking risks to prove to this city that they're in this to win it....

I think the Phillies gave up way to much for a guy who's 5-12....The Brewers only gave up their #1 and a couple lower level prospects for Sabathia....We give up #2 and #4? Blanton wasn't worth that much....I know Cardenas had his path blocked to the majors by Chase Utley, but c'mon....if he's that highly rated you should be able to package him for something better then Blanton!

Blanton was pitching in one of baseball's friendliest pitcher's park and his ERA is STILL over 5.....now he comes to one of the top 3 HITTER friendly parks in the majors....He better get alot of ground ball outs...

I won't argue what Brand and Iguodala need each other to make the Sixers a contender....but is Iguodala worth $10 -12 million a year? I don't know....his jumpshot is still too inconsistent to be our outside threat. Brand will work under the net....Iguodala will be the slasher too the net....

I want Iguodala on this team....but can you pay him top money for being the #2 option?

I won't argue against the 7-year $56 million they put on the table last year....it put him in line with the contract the other players who were in his draft class received....

They will be contenders because they have a solid PG....solid PF....solid SG....Dalembert I'm not a big fan of....and Thaddeus Young at SF is going to be solid....that alone makes them one of the top 4 teams in the East.

Iguodala is a good player. I hate to break it to him....he's now no longer the Sixer's "go-to" guy....Their go-to guy just signed a 5-year $80 million dollar contract....Iguodala showed how much of a go-to guy he was in the playoffs....

I'm not gonna argue that the Sixer's need him on their roster....because they do....but not at the hefty price tag he & his agent thinks he's worth....He'll be lucky to get an offer from a team for $9 million a year...

Eaton hasn't pitched that badly this season....He's had 1 or 2 bad starts....but other then that he's kept them in the games he's pitched....I don't know if Burnett would be an upgrade.....his ERA is crazy high....the run support doesn't mean diddly if you can't keep the other team off the board....but who knows....

This is not a bad signing on their part.....They knew coming into the free agent period that they had to improve the low post game....Elton Brand does that....Should they have gone after Josh Smith? Who knows....they JUST drafted Marresse Speights (aka the poor man's Brand)....so who knows....maybe Brand is brought in here to mentor Speight to be the "next" Brand....

Josh Smith is younger and more athletic....but why draft Speights in the first round if you were gonna go after someone almost as young in free agency?

Next season....work on the CENTER position....I'm not the biggest Dalembert fan....and I know he improved alot last season, but they could be better in the middle....

The Sixers should hold on to that cap money. Wait till next year when the Free Agent market is much deeper....and spend the money (plus what they'll have after this year's expiring contracts kick-in) on someone better then Josh Smith.

Does Smith make the Sixers a contender? Not really. They still don't have a PF inside game. Josh Smith is a really good player, don't get me wrong. He needs to develop a post-up game.

The Sixer's problem is they don't have an inside presence. They don't have a back-to-the-hoop inside guy to get the tough inside points. We have a team of jump shooter & dunkers who are inconsistent at best....They don't have a 3-pt threat on the roster....They need consistent shooting and an inside player to improve this squad...

Tampa doesn't have to wait to announce a signing of players they traded for....Malone, Rolston, and Roberts can all be announced today if they signed....When they traded for them they "unofficially" became a part of Tampa Bay's roster....
