2012 record? Who knows?
Carr and Claiborne (on paper) look like upgrades at the position.
It surely wasn't the offense that was the problem.

Who specifically reminds you of Chris Carter?

That mans hands were truly special, and his route running was second to none.

Indeed they did.

Did you personally feel Asante Samuel could have helped the Lions?
The rumor is the Lions had a deal on the table and then bowed out.
I understand it is ideal to target a young talented player at a position of need and secure him, but as a backup plan if you can get a vet who is an upgrade over what you got, it might be better than doing nothing at all.
Asante said he was willing to re-do his contract with whatever team he was traded to, so with that being said what do you think the reason was? Scheme? Age? Cap?
It seems Atlanta got a steal for only having to give up a 7th rd pick for him. Not likely you get a CB with his skills in the 7th rd of any draft.

OLB Shea McClellan, are there any packages you could see with him and Urlacher?
He seems athletic enough to get the field somehow. WR Alshon Jeffery should see significant snaps just with his measurable's and skill set alone, and Hester's role reduced at WR and maximized returning(per article) and Knox making his way back from getting folded in half like a lawn chair.

Nice job.
I know of the 1st 4 picks, mocked (DT Reyes, and TE Green) going to the Eagles. Molk was one of the better C ranked behind Konz. Sounds like a nice line-up.
How about UFA's?

The RB Isaiah Pead was a nice grab too, real physical runner.

LB Vontaze Burfict,
People were hot and cold on him going into the combine...then he had an awful combine, then downward spiral. He has been doing a nosedive and hitting every branch on the way down...maybe he needs some guidance. lol.

DT Worthy was a nice pickup.

My friend and co-worker is a Cowboys fan, and he was beyond thrilled with the Claiborne move.
Although as you point out, he echos your sentiment about having to give up the 2nd.
Claiborne is a great addition to that secondary and is one of those players teams get excited about, therefore the tact to snatch him up when he dropped a few spots. If he is that good, which he looks like he is, position settled.
I know very little about the DE from Boise St they took in the 3rd, yet to speak to him about the 2nd and 3rd day.
I mocked the Eagles selecting CB Kirkpatrick, and utilizing his skills at press, nickel, and at safety...but was very pleased with the outcome of DT F.Cox. He was the guy all along the fans clamored for and apparently coach Washburn was having a love affair with him as well.

I like the WR Alshon Jeffery pick.
I mocked him going to the Eagles with one of their 2nd rd picks. (not a huge need for the Eagles, but with an extra 2nd... adding a WR with his size and skills would have been a luxury pick).
Anyway Jeffery and Marshall, Forte and Bush....sounds good to me.

Ez........you gotta be pumped!
The Bengals had a whopper of a draft, many of these cats are getting on the field.
Coupled with last years guys Dalton and Green, Damn....thats a nice young talented roster.

Congrats on a nice draft.
The Eagles got DT Fletcher Cox....at #12.

There is a football God.

Whoooooo-hooooo!!!!!!

He got what he deserved. He covered up for a MONSTER....period!
There is no way he did not know what was going on, no way...that's a crock of BS.
Pedophiles are the worst of the worst...there are no exceptions. Jo-Pa dropped the ball and continued letting this monster on the campus grounds to avoid tarnishing his legacy.
The statue should be taken down too...its is bad to be a pedophile, and covering up for one is just as bad.

5 year, $25 million deal which includes $7 million guaranteed.
Oh-Yeah!
Line continuity is huge, and a 2nd yr in Mudd's system....;)

You said it, it is amazing. If you look up and down the roster, the talent is top tier at many positions, and the cap wizardry by Joe Banner is one of the best assets this organization has.

The Eagles reportedly made G Mathis a better offer than the Ravens, hope they can retain him, if so the line will be better than last year...which was good.

I love the moves the Eagles made this year by locking up key players to extensions (Cole, Herremans, Jackson and tendered DT Dixon) and not only rewarding the hard work, but avoiding a nightmare when their contracts expire. With the additions last year in FA, and keeping the core players here with new contracts this year...the draft can't come soon enough.

I echo the Kuechly sentiment, and hope we are pleasantly surprised by hearing his name at 15, or slightly higher if they make a move to get him. I love Kuechly at MLB here...it just makes sense when all the other positions have been fortified, to have a blue chip player at MLB for the foreseeable future. While they tendered our biggest run stuffing DT (Dixon) 6'3 326lbs who was playing well till he tore his triceps...I would love to see a name like Worthy, Still, Brockers, or Reyes added with the 46th pick to add more talent to the front line and eventually be the successor to Patterson or Jenkins. I think Poe, and Cox will be long gone by the 46th pick. They certainly have options to move back into the 1st, or top of the 2nd to grab a blue chip DT/DE which would be welcomed.

The Eagles usually rely heavily on the draft to build their roster, last year was unique for the Eagles in that they were well below the cap, which is standard procedure for them, and the amount of available talent in FA, at positions of need for them to fill out the roster.

They made the big splash in 2011 yes, but to their credit, along with having a new D coordinator(Castillo), a new o-line coach(Mudd), a new d-line coach(Washburn) implement new schemes, they had new starters at DE(Babin), DT(Jenkins), CB(Asomougha), a rookie C(Kelce), a rookie RG(Watkins), a new LG(Mathis), and LG Herremans moved to RT. A rookie MLB (Matthews) start the season, then musical chairs at LB, a rookie K(Henery), a rookie FA P(Henry) and WR Jackson pouting the whole season about his contract.

These are not excuses for their 8-8 record, as I was very disappointed as well with it, but there were many changes going on and could have been much worse. The silver lining is all those new coaches/players will have been immersed in the new schemes for a full season + off season heading into 2012.

As you can see this year, they are wisely locking up valued players with extensions to clear cap space and retain high value players for the long term, instead of a FA frenzy.

Denver and Cincy...damn, spend some money.

As for Philly's cap room, sign RB Shady McCoy to an extension, G Evan Mathis, and Plax.
If they cannot secure the services of LB Tulloch, as he is a 3 down LB and my preference of the FA's, then I would aggressively pursue MLB Kuechly in the draft.

Listened to Tim and Pat yesterday on Sirius NFL, they were exercising their 2nd mock draft, and had Philly jump from 15 to 11...giving the Chiefs a 2012 3rd, and swapping 1st's.
Selecting MLB Luke Kuechly, as a need, good value for the swap, and Seattle may be very interested in Kuechly...and he may not be there at 15. I like that idea.
