Seriously? The refs can't make that kind of call. The refs aren't supposed to decide the game, and if they made that call, it may have. The fact that Cody took his helmet off had no effect on the outcome of the game. If the shoe was on the other foot and Tennessee blocked the game winning field goal attempt, would you really be saying it should have been a penalty if the player ripped their helmet off? No, you wouldn't, and you shouldn't be. That should not be a penalty with zeros on the clock.

Incorrect. He was going to accept less money to play with the Braves, but they weren't willing to give him more than a 2 or 3 year deal. Glavine didn't go elsewhere because they offered more money, he wanted to stay in Atlanta. That wasn't the issue

Are you stoned? They had the best record in the West going into the playoffs, and ran through it. The Lakers beat the Spurs in 5 games, it wasn't even a close series.

On the contrary, Kobe plays some of his best ball in Portland and Denver. Must I take you back to 03 or 04 when Kobe nailed the 3 in regulation to tie the game, and then hit a 3 in OT to win the game? You may not have been born yet, not sure.

I'm not going to sit here and disagree that the Blazers are an up and coming team, but you need to take the homer shades off and look at some things. You pointing out the 2000 conference finals and b111tching and moaning about the officiating is just terrible. Seriously dude? That was 9 years ago, and you are still b111tching? The Lakers deserved to win that game. With Bynum being back in the lineup, the Lakers are the team to beat, not just in the West, but in the entire NBA. If the Lakers and Blazers meet in the playoffs, Portland won't make it past 6 games with LA. The Lakers CAN win in Portland. Phil Jackson didn't even coach in the recent game against Portland.

But props to Portland, they are a young up and coming team, with a lot of potential. They are going to be a team to reckon with if they can keep the core together in a few years. I just think they are a little too young this year, and will struggle in the playoffs that not many of the players on the team have played in. They are a great team, but are a year or so away.

Perfect logic. Since they lost in the Finals last year, no way they make out of the first round this year. And if you think the Finals was a beatdown, you obviously just caught the highlights of Game 6, and thought that was the whole series. Maybe you should watch a little basketball before you make dumb comments on websites because you have nothing better to fill your time except for making ignorant comments.

The Finals weren't a beatdown. LA doesn't blow the lead in Game 4, and that is a 7 game series.

No team in the West can beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. San Antonio had a chance, and would have been the biggest threat, but without Ginobili, I don't like their chances. Who's going to beat them? Denver? Swept them last year. I know they added Billups, but they still aren't on LA's level. Houston? Same team the Lakers beat 4 times this year? Dallas? Could barely type that without laughing. Come playoff time, LA can beat Portland in Portland. And even if they don't, they don't have to. They have homecourt. Must also remember that Phil Jackson did not make the trip with the team to Portland this time either. The only two teams that can beat the Lakers in a 7 game series are Cleveland and Boston.

All of you who are seriously saying it is Kobe's fault that Pau isn't getting shots in the 2nd half, need to get out of the past, and start watching some basketball this season. Watch a few Laker games and you will see Kobe getting the ball to Gasol when he has the hot hand. In no way is it Kobe's fault. The blame has to be put on the coaches for not realizing that they need to get the ball in Pau's hands, and whoever between Fisher and Farmar is playing point at the moment when Gasol is hot.
