Get over yourself. They didn't outplay Pittsburgh on every front.
Also, Filthadelphia is no garden of Eden, unless you like high crime rates and dirt.

Bostonsports: No Ovechkin is not. He's the best goal scorer, not the best all around players. There is a difference.
Posted Monday March 23, 2009, About: Roenick: Crosby needs more personality
First you complain because he talks to much and then you want him to be more controversial so you can what bash him for that too?? I forgot that all you Einsteins out there were world class hockey players at 18, responsible for bringing a team back from extinction, were capable of actually speaking in full sentences (that people can actually understand) and wing the scoring race and take your team to the Stanley Cup finals and so on and so on and do that all before you were even 21 years old. What were you idiots doing at 18, killing brain cells with too much beer??? Any one of you would love to have Crosby on your team. The same as you would with Ovechkin, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Iginla, etc. What does he have to do to, cure cancer??
Posted Monday March 23, 2009, About: Cherry-Ovechkin feud continues
Not everyone loves Ovechkin and not everyone thinks he's the best player in the world (me for one). As for his celebration, who really cares. He can do whatever he wants and if someone takes offense then he'll have to deal with that. He dishes out enough hits of his own (and yes some of them are cheap) that he'll end up being on the wrong end of one sooner or later. The sport is hockey and it does get a little rough sometimes, so deal with it or stop watching. As with anything, times change so comparing hockey then and now is like apples to oranges. And by the way for "Spaul" above, get over it. Russians and Europeans can play hockey just as well as Canadians. And to them you're a foreign piece of crap.

The best team does win, that's the whole point of playing a best of seven series. You make your own luck. No one was getting good bounces last night because the ice was just so bad from the extended game and the warm weather in Detroit. The best team won last night, the Pens put in the effort and they were rewarded. This is really turning into a fun and exciting series which is what all hockey fans wanted. A full 7 games would be great, more hockey for all of us to watch.

And to Tiger Woods regarding his comment about the Stanley Cup Finals, "lots of people care about and watch hockey" get over yourself.
Posted Friday May 30, 2008, About: Pens coach: Red Wings break the rules
Penalties comparison over 3 games:
Detroit - 16
Pittsburgh - 26

Wings didn't get the calls????? Legitimate reason to say something about the officiating. I am not a fan of blaming the officiating for losing a game but it is a coaches job to protect his players and bring notice of what he feels is inconsistent. The End on that.

In my opinion the officiating should just be across the board call it on each side and let the players decide the outcome of the game. We all know that players consistently break the rules (Gill taking down Holmstrom or Kronvall leaving the ice on hits - and it is documented on film so don't deny it) but in the end the talent of players like Crosby and Zetterberg should and will decide the outgome of each game.

And for all those people out there who think Crosby has no talent, you absolutely know you are WRONG. Not liking a player is one thing but denying is talent is just plain stupid.

The Pens have secured a new arena and a deal to stay for at least the next 30 years so they're not going anywhere. Also, plenty (almost all) teams go through periods where they're not very good or have a bad season. It's how you turn it around that matters and obviously the Pens have done that quite well. Have the Pens been lucky with draft picks, hell yeah. That's doesn't take anything away from the skill of the current team or how well they play defense or how well they can score goals. That's what they're paid to do and there are never guarantees with any draft pick. The Pens have had their share of bad picks too.

Philly is losing because they can't get the puck through the neutral zone without turning it over and then the offensively talented Pens make them pay for it. Hossa is an extremely strong two way player even if no one notices. Scuderi came back from his injury a changed player and stepped his game up to the next level. Therrien knows how to get this team to play defensively even though they have some of the best offensive talent in the league.

The Flyers have lost key players but that's just what happens and the rest of the team needs to step it up. Good teams are solid down the lines and obviously Philly isn't that strong.

There's a ton of reasons the Pens are winning, luck is just one small part of it.

GO PENS!

PhylFan36 is it possible for you to not write/talk like an immature uneducated low class person?? Is this forum not to discuss hockey? Pittsburgh is an absoultely beautiful city with lots of arts/culture/sports and history not alot unlike Philadelphia and the great state of Pennsylvania in general. Can you try to keep this about hockey, the actual game of.

Right now the Pens are looking like the better team. Philly needs to step it up if they plan on winning any games. It's that simple. Officiating is what it is and it's senseless to argue about it since there is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it. The Pens have had a long and great history and no matter the trash talk that won't change. I've been a season ticket holder for many years including the bad ones and have been fortunate to see some great players play at the Arena including those from other teams. I appreciate the skill and talent it takes to simply make it in the NHL, on any team. And this season's playoffs have been alot of fun and the finals will be great no matter who makes it there (which by the way will be Pittsburgh and Detroit - GO PENS!)
Posted Friday May 09, 2008, About: Therrien-Stevens tensions continue
I guess all you hockey amateurs realize that the Pens are going wipe the ice with the Flyers, WITNESS GAME ONE Pens 4 Flyers 2 If anyone is overrated or simply mediocre that would be the Flyers. Unless it's a cheap shot contest then the Flyers might stand a chance.
Posted Wednesday April 30, 2008, About: Did Avery try to take out Crosby?
Maybe when you strap on a pair of skates and try and fight your way down ice through a bunch of very large men clutching and grabbing you and you DON'T fall down you might have a better understanding of what Sid goes through night after night. All the great players are accused of diving because you have to knock them down somehow and you can't trash talk their skills.

Some people will always knock Sid, they just have no idea how great he is especially when you get to watch him in person for an entire season. You come to realize he is head and shoulders above 99% of the players in the league. And I have seen some truly great players including the Magnificent One and Jagr.

GO PENS!!
Posted Wednesday April 30, 2008, About: Would Jagr return to Pittsburgh?
OtherOne81, you know there are stupid sports fans in every city. Some Pens fans boo Jagr. I have season tickets and have not once screamed "boo" when Jagr touches the puck. He was a great player for Pittsburgh and I have many great memories of watching him destroy teams at Mellon Arena (or the Civic Arena as it was known back then). And for the record, Jagr left because he wanted to leave not because the fans wanted him to. He unfortunately did not leave on good terms and maybe said some things he shouldn't have and acted in a way he shouldn't have. But, I appreciate the skill of all hockey players especially the great ones among which Jagr can be counted.
Posted Wednesday April 30, 2008, About: Would Jagr return to Pittsburgh?
It is a stupid article to go along with all the stupid articles in the NY Post and many other papers across the country. The words "good" and "journalism" should never be used in the same sentence anymore.

Was Jagr great when he was in Pittsburgh, absolutely. Did I love going to all those games and watching him score night after night, ABSOLUTELY. Should he come back, absolutely NOT. The Pens have a good team mix and very good team chemisty and we all know what Jagr can do to that.

The days of Lemieux and Jagr are over. Make way for Crosby and Malkin.
Posted Wednesday April 30, 2008, About: Did Avery try to take out Crosby?
For those people who just can't handle the truth, Crosby is one of the best in the league and he does his job well. If he's a flopper then so is Jagr, Lemieus, Gretsky and all the other greats. He's a top skill player that gets alot of attention on the ice and off. He draws the penalties which is exactly what he should be doing. Every move he makes is dissected and torn apart by those who just need someone to hate. If you're going to hate someone, make it someone who deserves it.

Just admit that he has amazing skill and is a GREAT hockey player and anyone out there would be dying to have him on their team. He makes everyone around him play better. Also, if you notice unlike many other star players he never trash talks other players, he downplays his on abilities and always credits his team. He's a great player who also is humble and the perfect face for the NHL. So everyone else just GET OVER IT. Let's actually talk about hockey (the greatest sport in the world) and how great these playoffs have been and how the race for the Cup is the most exciting thing to watch right now.
Posted Wednesday April 23, 2008, About: Hossa growing fond of Pittsburgh?
I think Baun-die girl is a little jealous that Sid plays for Pittsburgh and will lead them to many Stanley Cups in his long and illustrious career. You can try and trash talk Sid as much as you want but we all know (along with NHL current and former players, sports writers and commentators) that Sid is the real deal and he will be remembered as one of the best. What player in the NHL doesn't try and persuade refs to make calls their way or embelish penalties to get the call they want. It happens in every sport. If you truly think Crosby isn't amazingly talented or one of the best in the league right now then you should just stop watching hockey now because Sid is going to be around for a really long time.
Posted Wednesday April 23, 2008, About: Hossa growing fond of Pittsburgh?
I think Baun-ded has been breathing in too much smog from wherever he lives. First off, it's been over 40 years since the steel industry caused any problems in Pittsburgh. It's a gorgeous city with green grass, lots of trees and rolling hills. It has a world class symphony, tons of museums and an amusement park that rival any city of any size. Second, I seem to remember the Steelers winning a Super Bowl in the recent past. Third, the Pens defense if fine and they'll prove it when they pound the Rangers into the ice.
Posted Friday April 18, 2008, About: Iginla screams at Flames coach
I agree the Philly-Wash series has been so much fun to watch. But, Baun-ded is totally wrong, the Pens will crush either Philly or Washington. No one is going to stop them this year.
Posted Wednesday April 09, 2008, About: Bulls-eye on Crosby's back?
Anyone who calls Sid a whiner is obviously just jealous he doesn't play for their team. And the blind people above who think the refs have Sid's back obviously haven't watched any hockey this season. Anyone who watches just a little bit of hockey realizes that the refs neither protect nor pick on anyone in the NHL, their calls are all over the place every night. So, in the end it probably evens out (we all know the best refs are in the NFL).

In the end, you'll see Sids' name right next to Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretsky and Mario Lemieux as one of the greatest players ever.
