I don't think anyone can call Pat White "grossly overrated" the last few years. Look at his performance the last 3 bowl games that WVU has had.

Where WVU goes from here, and worse yet after Pat is gone, I just don't know at this point. I'm going to go throw up now thinking about it

WVUGradinHoboken, I respect the WVa program...have since the Nehlen days. I'm going to try and explain why teams don't always get up for BCS games. Programs like Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, etc expect to compete for the National Champioship every year. When they don't, it is a let down. The schools get a ton of money for BSC games and the teams get another month or so of practice, so playing in BSC bowls is important. Being an Ohio State fan I know that the Michigan rivalry game is so big, that sometimes other bowl games aren't as big (not the NC game of course). So, the bowl games aren't always a good indicator of the stregth of a team

I see what you are saying. I think though that if any team possibly was going into BCS bowl season flat and miserable last year it would have been WVU after that Pitt debacle/coaching situation. Just glad we played the way we did.

And I agree with you on the rivalry games. Some of those will always outweigh a bowl game. Especially OSU/UM

Anyway good luck this year. Would love to see WVU/OSU for the NC this year!

They surprised a good Georgia team, but had to hang on to win. Last year they lambasted Oklahoma (the same team that lost to Boise St the year before) . I don't mean to dis WVa, in fact I hope they do well. But let's face it, the Big East isn't that darn big. What you are not getting is that teams like Oklahoma have trouble getting up for meaningless bowl games. Let's face it, they nothing to gain by beating WVa last year and they didn't show up.

Well I hear that a lot about the Georgia game. People point to them clawing back and making it close but the bottom line is we won. We were up by 10 and they scored a td with 5 minutes left and then we held them off. I guess I always look to the fact that we jumped out to a 28-0 lead. Of course I am biased

As for Oklahoma not showing up for a "meaningless" game, I mean if you can't get it up for a BCS Bowl game then I wish they had stayed home and sent another team. Again I would credit the Mountaineers performance before pointing to OU and saying they didn't care. (Can we only win when no one else cares?) I have to assume OU wanted revenge after the Boise State game.

As for the Big East as a whole I hear you. I hope we are trending upward as a whole instead of being 1 or 2 good teams and some lightweights. The out of conference games this year will be the judge and jury for us I suppose in that regard

Devine showed some flashes as a back up to Slaton. The WVa O-line did a good job. We'll see this year if Devine can last against those mighty Big East teams week to week.

So I'm guessing you don't put a lot of stock in the quality level of the Big East. Let me ask you this, how has WVU done the last 3 years in Bowl games against teams from other "superior" conferences?

Hopefully Devine can shoulder the load a whole season healthy. Great O-Line coming back to help with that. We will find out soon enough

I hear you. The hope is that by increasing his passing a little more we might put defenses back on their heals a little to open up the running game even more so, if that is possible.

So far I am happy with the job Stew has done but the jury is still out in a lot of areas. Hopefully we can build on and continue the momentum of the last few years.

Can't wait until the season starts!!!

You are ignorant to think that the media doesnt purposely seek out certain people to get quotes from when reporting to the national market while in west virginia. They are continuing a theme of portraying wv as backward rednecks. Secondly, you can go outside of any city in any state in the nation and find people that will give these racist views. Thirdly, one thing that would make wvu better, in particular, is less f'ing jersey terds like you who wear too much hair gel, too much jewelry, and talk like they have poop in their mouths.
