Money makes the league go around, and without the gullible fans and ego driven players who actually think they are different from one another until they get hurt . See Culpepper, and an endless list of great players who were kicked to the curb, after being literally wooed by the teams and the league. This includes massive amounts of attention heaped on the players and their families. However, the second the player is hurt, all attention ceases and the attitude is, "next!"
The Vikings are no better and no worse than other teams. although Childress and the Wilfs, as will soon be shown, have no loyalty to anyone. The Wilfs have used a scalpel around Eden Prairie and have no friends. Word has it they intend to sell out their own Mother, as soon as they get their price.
Does anyone remember that surgary article about him when he was on the cover of SI and at the top of his game before he decided drugs were more important than anything? I actually thought the guy was going to go on to do great things.
HAS SHE BEEN TO COOPERTOWN, HE DOMINATES THE PLACE, THE BAT ALONE, I HAVE BEEN HALF A DOZEN TIMES AND I CAN NEVER GET OVER THE SHEER SIZE OF THE WOOD! Today's bats look like little league.
Wait til he is hurt and sitting home, watching his team on TV, and he is collecting disability. These guys are one step away from the poorhouse when they act like this and I wish the teams would stand up to them.
I guess he couldn't feed his family?
"The Bills need to step up and pay the man." Exactly what for? Something he already got paid for...what am I missing here?
I once had an MRI tech who smelled like dope and when I mentioned it to the office manager, I was fired as the patient by the Dr., for having the temerity to bother him with this problem!
Guess operating millions of dollars of equipment is not much different than working in the NFL and making millions. It all depends on how serioursly the folks in charge consider the transgression.
The truth is college football players are groomed for the few draft spots in the pros and it is each guy's dream is just to attend the draft. They spend their entire academic careers hoping for a shot at the pros, and just a few hundred make it. That is statistically indisputable.
Afterwards, when they do not get drafted or walk -on, they blend into the world, hopefully have succeessful lives, but they do no make millions as no-names, and if they can land a job with a C average (or some sort of college equivalency diploma,) they are very fortunate. Those are facts, whether you agree with them or not. Many, many, many....never graduate. The draft is held in April.
One football player from one school is a Rhodes Scholar and pre-med. Wow, out of the hundreds of thousands of guys who go out for football, that's really impressive. By the way, your mailman can go for "pre-med," if he signs up for community college biology and anatomy classes. It appears your ignorance is being fine tuned when you start swallowing SI puff stories on one player.
THE NFL IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND SO IS COLLEGE FOOTBALL. IT IS NOT ABOUT ACADEMICS. FOOTBALL PLAYERS RARELY GO ON TO CAREERS IN NEUROSURGERY.
Anyone dumb enough to represent himself will get what he deserves.
The owners will eat them alive. There is a statisitic that 80% of Americans have at one time, or will be involved in the judicial process. You have apparently never been to court, where those who represent themselves end up good and bitter, and emptyhanded... but wiser.
Law schools exist for a reason and there is a curriculum for law students to learn the sophisticated nuts and bolts of professional sports contract negotiation skills, and hang tough advocacy abilities for players. Who do you think drafts the contracts for the teams???
Professional level contracts require a law school education to decipher and negotitate. Haven't seen too much of that material around professional sports lately.
The four years they supposedly spend in college is to prepare them to play pro sports, not for living the future of a normal, average human being. The only thing that saves their sorry a******s are attorneys.
EVERYONE HATES ATTORNEYS UNTIL THEY NEED ONE.
These guys are lucky they can tie their shoes when the "graduate" from college.
