I wonder if the Bulls could be in play for a player like Outlaw. What about trading for Outlaw with Gordon? An experienced scoring guard might be useful with a player like Roy.

The thing with Cabrera, while he does walk players he is better than marquis who likes to give up the long ball, and unproven starters Marshall and Gallagher. Cabrera is a good strikeout pitcher when he is on and I think the Cubs and Rothschild could work out those kinks to make him effective. If we consider him a number 3 pitcher then his value will be such and having two number 3 pitchers in the rotation wouldn't be so bad. The gem of the deal would definitely be Roberts. The Orioles could use prospects and I think the Cubs were close to getting Roberts alone earlier this season.

Maddux while a fan favorite here and acquiring him would make for a nice story I don't think I need a rent-a-player pitcher who only goes 5 innings

Let's stay away from guys like Burnett and Harden who break down as frequently as Prior did. Bedard would not flourish in Chicago and I don't believe a pitcher like Maddux would do enough for us in the long run of a season. No need to think this organization can't do like the Sox and win a few. This team looks good for a while. Perhaps it's all a pipedream.

I think the Cubs should revisit the Orioles and try to pry Roberts and a pitcher like Cabrera away from them for prospects. Andy McPhail knows what is in our organization and he could easily get Pie, Cedeno, and Samaradzja from us in return. We would then have a proven lead-off guy and a good strikeout pitcher in the 3/4 spot in the rotation. Zambrano, Lilly, Dempster, Cabrera and Gallagher/Marshall would make for a nice rotation and the lineup would definitely be scary at that point with Roberts, Theriot, Lee, Soriano, Ramirez, Fukudome, Soto, Johnson/DeRosa, and Zambrano. I think that would make for a solid WS bid.

Unless the Cubs are trying to get Crisp to pick a fight with Tampa I don't think we need this trade. Our outfielders are going well even without Soriano out there. Crisp would do nothing for us in the long term. I would rather have Pie. Let's look at pitching and not at the outfield.

Why does heatfan want to trade marion so badly. He plays well and perhaps finding just the right center would make you a good team.

Didn't we get rid of Prior for being injured too much? Why take on another disaster and a huge contract. We already got what we wanted from Toronto in Lilly let's look for better options.

I sure hope the Cubs get out bid by the Yankees. If Jim Hendry is considering Posiednik he most certainly is thinking about acquiring this cow. Look for someone who won't eat his way out of baseball. He choked in the post season, we had a platoon of pitchers that did that last year. Get someone who knows what they are doing.

I hear McDonalds is hiring. Maybe he can play on the inter murals team.
Posted Friday June 13, 2008, About: Cubs interested in Podsednik
If he were playing well in colorado he wouldn't be losing at bats to spilborghs. Leave him in Colorado and focus on getting better pitching with our prospects.

Makes you wonder why they haven't interviewed with Johnson yet? At this pace maybe they will do a first interview with him. More than likely the reason they are not going after Johnson is the same reason they can't come to terms with Collins. It involves money. With Reinsdorf making the final decision on these matters i'm sure that is why this is taking so long. D'Antoni knew better of the situation and ran now we are seeing why. Please hire someone already.
