I don't think you can say they have no need for him what so ever. I don't care who the Yankees have coming up the ranks. Any team has a need for a two time batting champ catcher and Gold glove catcher.

He will stay a Twin as long as they can add some players. The Twins should go out and throw some $$ at Lackey and show Maure they are gonna do something to support him. That is they only way the Twins will lose him by not making an effort to make the team better. It will not come down to $$ for him.

That is my biggest beef with watching the NHL because the Europeans are not at into it like they are during international play and it seems like the opposite is true for North American players.

Maybe its my feeling that the US does not field the best possible team they can. Therefore it is hard to watch. They go after the names that can be recognized and not the players that give them the best shot at winning. Guys like Modano and Chelios should have not been on last Olympic team. We have this mentality that it is owed to them or something. They can't play on the big rink like the young fresh legs can.

Olympic Soccer (Football) has a rule that no team can have more than i think 3 players over the age of 23 on a team. I actually like that rule and think that sport has it correct in this case (I will not say that often). I personally like to see fresh faces.

I agree the World Jr's is a great tourney but unless your in Canada that tourney get 0 exposure. This is a chance for some of those guys who may never actually make it to the show a chance and a little of fame. I hate to play the 80 USA Olympic card but some of those guys never got the big NHL pay day and that was their time on the center stage.

I think watching amateur sport at the highest level is much more fun than watching Pro's who already have reached their pay day. They just don't have the same desire as the young kids do. I would take a Major Jr./NCAA hockey game over an NHL game any day of the week.

Olympics should be for amateurs. Give the little guys something to play for and maybe make a name for them self in the eyes of their country.

Maybe a few more of these high priced players need to get some splinters in their arse to figure out its time to go out there and play. Why shouldn't the coach sit him? He is trying to send a message and if he too much of a baby to see how crappy he actually has been playing then let him sit and whine at the end of the bench. I am sick of all these players thinking they are entitled to be there. Put a little effort and maybe you will get the playing time. The Wild need to find their next Clutterbuck who comes up from the minors on a mission to stay in the show. I would send a few more of these primadonna's to the AHL for a wake up call and bring up the young guys who put in a 100% effort every night.

Unfortunately that minority has way too big of a voice and the louder they get the more relevant they actually become.. One small group cries foul and things have to change but the 95% who don't have a problem with it really don't matter.
