I think MLB should just legalize all steroids. Then we can compare 'roider to 'roider without the numbers being cloudy or the statistics wonks clamoring for asterisks. I would love to see, for instance, if Juan Pierre started belting 30 a year if PEDs were made legal!

I didn't watch the WBC. Did he challenge hitters in the US's lineup, and other powerful lineups like with the MLB's Latin American players? Or did he just eat up Italy and South Africa? I'm not trying to be a smartass, I just don't know. Curious about the level of competition Dice-K faced.

Peavy is going nowhere near Philly:
(1) He doesn't want to pitch in a live yard
(2) He likes his weather mild
(3) and his hometown fans soft
Imagine spending your whole career in San Diego and then moving to Philadelphia. Talk about culture shock. He'd be crying after his first bad outing in crappy weather when the phans boo him within inches of his life. I would rather have a guy who's solid but isn't going to cost us as much from our farm system. I would LOVE to have Aaron Harang, for instance. He will eat innings, saving our great bullpen for critical moments; he's durable as hell, he's a strikeout pitcher, and he's a cool customer who won't be rattled by a potentially antagonistic environment. We don't need to make a "splash" with a signing, we just need a guy who doesn't get injured and who knows how to win.

Plax and Vick will both be trying to catch overthrown passes from JaMarcus Russell in 2010, and Heyward-Bey will be dropping the rest. It pains me to say this because I'm a Raiders fan, but I can see the Crypt Keeper rubbing his skeletal hands together and cackling in Mr. Burns-like fashion over the possibility. Gives me **** chills.

This is a fantastic question, 50, one I haven't heard any of the talking heads explore. DOES he wear a Packers jersey to the Hall? I mean, if he doesn't, that WILL be the thing that tarnishes his reputation forever, no matter what else he has done/will do post-Packers. He absolutely cannot screw the Packers fans that way regardless of how he felt he was treated at the end of his career with the team. He absolutely cannot screw Mike Holmgren and Donald Driver and Sterling Sharpe, OR for that matter, the legacy of Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr and Lambeau Field and everyone who helped him create his legend. If he tries to go in as anything other than a Packer, they shouldn't let him in.

Church! I agree completely. It's the TMZ-ing of sports journalism, and it's getting worse on every site, not just here. Not only is the journalism smarmy, but the comments are increasingly more Jerry Springer. I don't even read FN three times a week anymore.
