Posted Tuesday September 15, 2009, About: Does Nylander want to stay with Caps?
Brendan Morrison. Allegedly he's healthy. Nylander was signed a couple of years ago before Backstrom arrived. The Caps were trying to find a center who could feed Alex and he was the best option available. He played decently his first year but has been lousy since. We're probably stuck with him and will just have to eat the rest of his contract.
Posted Saturday August 15, 2009, About: Theodore still No. 1 in D.C.?
All Bruce is saying is that Propecia Boy is number one at the start of camp. That makes sense. Varly and Neuvirth are two very promising goalies but they are both VERY young and you don't want to overexpose them too quickly (can you say Carey Price?). As far as the Caps D, we have Karl Alzner and John Carlson on the way from the minors plus McPhee needs to make a trade in training camp to move a blueliner to clear out roster and cap space (prolly Morrison). And remember, Jose is only under contract for one more season, might as well take advantage of that and protect your young guys.
Posted Saturday August 15, 2009, About: Did Sanchez win Jets job in debut?
Temper yourselves Jets fans. Your top guys beat up on a Rams team whose OLine was its usual horrible self (somebody want to remind the backup RB that picking up the blitz is a part of the job?) and a defense that is two years away from being decent. When Sanchez (and Clemens) perform well against a legit team we'll talk.
Posted Thursday July 16, 2009, About: Ravens trying to change Mason's mind
Its not so much of "is he that good?" as "is there much behind him on the depth chart?" and the answer is no. He is a very dependable veteran WR. The Ravens need him.
Posted Monday April 27, 2009, About: Rangers ask NHL to punish Caps
Brash got what he deserved. I finally saw a good angle of the hit on Betts and it was cheap shot. No doubt about it. BUT, after all of Avery's cr*p I can't say I really have much sympathy. After having to deal with him for the past twelve days I can see why the Devils got so tired of his act in last year's playoffs.

I'll be glad when this series is over one way or the other tomorrow. I'm glad the Flyers fans have disappeared off the chat boards (thank you Penguins) and I'm getting tired of Rangers fans whining about the Brash hit and Erskine and Ovechkin and whatever else is up your butts.

Right, right, right. I meant I agree that Bettman is an idiot. I don't agree with the Jewish stuff. Comments on religion have no place on chat boards like this.

Couldn't agree with you more on all points. Just remember this - Brash plays about 5-7 minutes a night for us. You have bigger issues tomorrow night than a 4th line winger who likes to hit and can move the puck a little. And personally I wouldn't mind seeing how Clarkie looks. If we can win tomorrow we may need him in the next round.
Posted Monday April 27, 2009, About: Rangers ask NHL to punish Caps
For what its worth it sounds like Brash will be suspended for Game 7 and Chris Clark who is finally healthy will take his spot. As for those of you hoping a Ranger takes a run at Ovechkin - the Rangers were going after him the whole 3rd period and Pierre McGuire said he was laughing. I repeat that: LAUGHING. As for Erskine, yes he's been chippy but when you're going up against Steve Avery you have to have someone on your team who is willing to get in Avery's face. Erskine has had a tremendous series for us.

Also, as a Caps season ticket holder I apologize to Rangers fans for the **** who were heckling the Rangers bench in Game 5. I have no doubt the patrons of MSG have been just as bad over the years (in fact several Rangers fans tried to start a fight in my section in Game 1 just for the heck of it) but if what the Rangers allege was said is correct then there is no place for that type of talk in sports. None whatsoever.

Can't wait for tomorrow.
Posted Friday April 24, 2009, About: Rangers may bench Avery
Avery is meaningless. All I care about is us crashing the net and solving Lundqvist. We do that we have a Game 6. If not......ummmm, go Vancouver!
Posted Thursday April 23, 2009, About: Ovechkin takes jabs at Avery
1) We didn't play very well last night and despite that we hit the post three times and lost on a misplay by Varlamov. Disappointing, but hey the series ain't done until New York wins a fourth game.

2) Steve Avery is a really good player as evidenced by Torts putting him on the 1st line. You don't get a job on the 1st line - especially from Torts - if you aren't a legit player. Unfortunately he cannot control himself and commits self-inflicted wound after self-inflicted wound. Its easy to call him an ****hole, and how Erskine or someone else has held back from putting him in the hospital at some point in the last two games is beyond me, but in reality he is just a sad example of wasted talent and "what could be".
Posted Thursday April 23, 2009, About: Redskins trading up for Sanchez?
So basically, with Gibbs gone Snyder is going back to being The Danny and doing whatever is exactly the wrong move for his team.

And people wonder why I became a Ravens fan when I moved out here......
Posted Wednesday April 22, 2009, About: Hawks, Flames exchange barbs
The Wings are on cruise control against the Jackets who like they were just happy to get there. Better watch out for Vancouver though. They have "tough out" written all over them.
Posted Wednesday April 22, 2009, About: Hawks, Flames exchange barbs
Looks like Carolina/Jersey will be the best of the first round series but yeah the Hawks/Flames has been entertaining. The last ten minutes of Game 3 was fun to watch.
Posted Tuesday April 21, 2009, About: Ovechkin spied on Rangers practice
Have no idea why Avery got a game misconduct there. Maybe the refs were just sick of him, he was whining all night.

And yes, Backstrom got a stick on Callahan's empty netter. It definitely changed the game but we also just played a lot better. We'll see if we can keep it going tomorrow night.
Posted Tuesday April 21, 2009, About: Ovechkin spied on Rangers practice
Anybody else notice had bad of a game Avery had? Long, long way to go in this thing but watching Avery whine and get pushed around by Erskine all night was fun.
Posted Thursday April 16, 2009, About: Will Caps bench Theodore?
Kolzig was done last year. We would not have made the playoffs last year if we hadn't made an upgrade at goalie.

As far as trading for Bouwmeester or Kaberle. Bouwmeester would have been an awfully expensive rental and Burke made it clear to anyone listening that he didn't really want to trade Kaberle and that the price was going to be very high.
Posted Thursday April 16, 2009, About: Will Caps bench Theodore?
Would have cost too much. McPhee looked into it but Anaheim or Phoenix or whoever wanted several prospects and draft picks in return - he wasn't going to do that and that was the right call. We're building for the long-term, not just one or two years.

As for Huet - McPhee and Leonsis met his contract demands, then he raised them, essentially telling the Caps to **** off so we had no choice but to go get Theo. Its easy to pull Theo for Game 2 but the Washington Post raised a great question: What if Varlamov struggles? Then what do you do?

Congrats to the Rangers for a nice win and Game 2 is now a must win for us but we'll get it and then see what happens next week in the Garden.
Posted Wednesday April 15, 2009, About: Billionaire owner may lose Rangers
I have no sympathy for this ****hole. By giving ARod that contract he single-handedly screwed up the economics of baseball.
Posted Thursday April 09, 2009, About: Flyer out for the season
We're a one player team??? You guys don't watch much hockey do you. Remember you said that when Green wins the Norris this Summer.

And you guys actually thinks its okay to boo a team two games into the season? Man, and I thought Yankees fans were full of themselves.......

BTW: I'm not the only one who thinks you guys are out of line on that front: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Hey-Philly-booing-Adam-Ea ton-and-his-ring-Belo?urn=mlb,154587

Have fun with Red-neck hockey in the first round.

That loss to Toronto didn't hurt us like your loss may hurt you. Hope you don't have a Game 7 in Raleigh 'cause poor Toronto caught you guys napping in the first game. And who says you guys are sweeping the Rangers anyway this weekend? They're desperate and more than good enough to take at least one of those.

And, no, I'm not upset about last year. It was a learning experience for a young team. I got over it in about five minutes. And as far as the 7-1 game - eh, every team got rocked at least two or three times this year. Wasn't worried about it then, won't be worried about it if you survive Carolina and face us later in the playoffs.

BTW: I loved how you tools were booing the Phillies by the third inning of opening night on Sunday. Stay classy Philly fans!

Have fun getting your butts kicked by those elusive Canes fans buddy.

This guy's team can't take care of business in a home and home vs friggin' Toronto and he's talking smack about the hottest team in the league. And Caps fans show up, we were just doing other things during the first few years of the rebuilding, like, um, lessee, what were we doing??? Oh, I know...we were waiting to see how The Danny would screw up the Redskins again. Its an annual rite of Spring down here.
