I'll be glad when this series is over one way or the other tomorrow. I'm glad the Flyers fans have disappeared off the chat boards (thank you Penguins) and I'm getting tired of Rangers fans whining about the Brash hit and Erskine and Ovechkin and whatever else is up your butts.
Also, as a Caps season ticket holder I apologize to Rangers fans for the **** who were heckling the Rangers bench in Game 5. I have no doubt the patrons of MSG have been just as bad over the years (in fact several Rangers fans tried to start a fight in my section in Game 1 just for the heck of it) but if what the Rangers allege was said is correct then there is no place for that type of talk in sports. None whatsoever.
Can't wait for tomorrow.
2) Steve Avery is a really good player as evidenced by Torts putting him on the 1st line. You don't get a job on the 1st line - especially from Torts - if you aren't a legit player. Unfortunately he cannot control himself and commits self-inflicted wound after self-inflicted wound. Its easy to call him an ****hole, and how Erskine or someone else has held back from putting him in the hospital at some point in the last two games is beyond me, but in reality he is just a sad example of wasted talent and "what could be".
And people wonder why I became a Ravens fan when I moved out here......
And yes, Backstrom got a stick on Callahan's empty netter. It definitely changed the game but we also just played a lot better. We'll see if we can keep it going tomorrow night.
As far as trading for Bouwmeester or Kaberle. Bouwmeester would have been an awfully expensive rental and Burke made it clear to anyone listening that he didn't really want to trade Kaberle and that the price was going to be very high.
As for Huet - McPhee and Leonsis met his contract demands, then he raised them, essentially telling the Caps to **** off so we had no choice but to go get Theo. Its easy to pull Theo for Game 2 but the Washington Post raised a great question: What if Varlamov struggles? Then what do you do?
Congrats to the Rangers for a nice win and Game 2 is now a must win for us but we'll get it and then see what happens next week in the Garden.
And you guys actually thinks its okay to boo a team two games into the season? Man, and I thought Yankees fans were full of themselves.......
BTW: I'm not the only one who thinks you guys are out of line on that front: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Hey-Philly-booing-Adam-Ea ton-and-his-ring-Belo?urn=mlb,154587
Have fun with Red-neck hockey in the first round.
And, no, I'm not upset about last year. It was a learning experience for a young team. I got over it in about five minutes. And as far as the 7-1 game - eh, every team got rocked at least two or three times this year. Wasn't worried about it then, won't be worried about it if you survive Carolina and face us later in the playoffs.
BTW: I loved how you tools were booing the Phillies by the third inning of opening night on Sunday. Stay classy Philly fans!
This guy's team can't take care of business in a home and home vs friggin' Toronto and he's talking smack about the hottest team in the league. And Caps fans show up, we were just doing other things during the first few years of the rebuilding, like, um, lessee, what were we doing??? Oh, I know...we were waiting to see how The Danny would screw up the Redskins again. Its an annual rite of Spring down here.
