Let it go already... He's done his time and has acted in a manner that has shown remorse. He's also made an earnest effort to turn his life around.
I don't condone what he did, actually it disgusted me. But, give the guy some credit... He knows what he did was wrong and has taken active steps to reform.
I don't know that it was that Big Red was running the team poorly as much as these are massive shifts in philosophy. I think Reid's message became stale and the players tuned him out. There isn't a ton of negative press on Reid attributed to his former players.
They say Kelly is big on technology, nutrition and training. Gone are Taco Tuesday and Junk food Friday. Hello healthy meal options in the cafeteria and targeted nutritional supplements (see the smoothies piece). Kelly has to be focused on maintaining his athletes since much on his offense in predicated on speed and endurance. If all the hype is to be believed, the Eagles will, at a minimum, run every defense they face ragged with the tempo of the offense. That could be great news for Eagles fans if the players embrace the system and can execute it. It could also be an unmitigated disaster...
Of course the offense can put all the points they possibly can up on the board, but if the defense resembles last year's unit, it won't mean ****... Only time will tell if Kelly will be the next Jim Harbaugh or the next Steve Spurrier in the NFL...
This one isn't a coaching issue. There was a story from back when Strasburg was playing for Tony Gwynn at San Diego State. Gwynn saw the issue with his mechanics and called in a favor with Greg Maddux to work with him. The story goes that Strasburg didn't like the new mechanics Maddux was teaching so he just didn't listen and kept using the poor mechanics that shelved him with TJ surgery 2 years ago. Coaches (Hall of Famers even!!!) have tried to help this kid fix his issue, but he won't listen.
The Nats will hit. They've got plenty of talent at the plate. Strasburg has never tried to fix his mechanics to stop overloading his elbow. That's been the book on him since college. Great stuff, horrible mechanics. He needs to fix his mechanics now if he wants to play for a long time.
The next manager of the Philadelphia Phillies is coaching 3rd base for them this season.
There is only one reason the Phillies moved Sandberg from managing their AAA club in Lehigh to 3rd base coach with the big club. They didn't want another club to poach him. It doesn't hurt for him to get familiar with the roster so he's ready to take over Manuel's job next season (or sooner if the team tanks at some point this season).
Amaro might want to make sure his resume is updated as well. His job status can't be all that secure either.
Barring strikes and player lockouts by Gary Buttman, there's usually a Stanley Cup championship every year.... It doesn't take Dionne Warwick and the Psychic Friends Network to figure that out... Otis, It could be anywhere, he never said he saw it in Minnesota...
The idiots in Congress involved themselves in PED usage in pro sports. Don't you recall Rafael Palmiero wagging his finger at the panel denying ever using PEDs. That was just before he got caught using them...
And to answer your question, yes, I do think Congress would get involved... As a matter of fact, I bet they'd jump at the chance to have their say here...
If this goes before Congress, those who the NCAA couldn't compel to talk won't be called. Congress won't be investigating the Hurricanes, it'll be the NCAA under the microscope. Their practices and procedures will be called into question as will the methods they employed during the Miami investigation. The NCAA's use of the Freeh report to penalize PSU will be reviewed as will their use of an outside attorney who's own credibility has been called into question previously. The NCAA has no one to blame but themselves here.
Mark Emmert should just pack his bags and walk away giving the U nothing more than time served... If the NCAA finds themselves playing defense against both the U and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, I'll bet a few more skeletons will fall out of the NCAA's closet. It's time for Mark Emmert to fall on his own sword before the NCAA member institutions cite him for a "lack of institutional control".
I predict that the U will walk away with no additional punishments and PSU will serve 1 more year of their suspension and the rest will be rescinded.
Mark Emmert will be lucky to find a job as volunteer president of the local little league if he keeps his current course.
The Eagles have selected a few guys who were combine beasts and NFL busts... There's enough video out there on all the high round guys that tells you a hell of alot more than a few days of workouts and interviews. And who really puts any stock in the Wonderlic test???
Here's a guy with questionable character and intelligence... The kid actually help keep the "dead girlfriend" story alive. All it would have taken was a simple quote saying he got duped by a "friend" and this story would have lasted all of 5 minutes instead of five months.
Why does everyone think so highly of this kid?
His performance against Alabama also raised some major questions about his talent level. Against an elite college team he looked sluggish and got beat like a drum all night long. Now ramp that up to NFL caliber talent. This kid has 1st round bust written all over him...

From a Philadelphia centric site,
"Man, he's missing tackles like he already plays for the Eagles..."
