3rd line defenseman? Might want to read a bit more carefully. Parrish is a forward.
The thing that always gets me about people ragging on Lemaire's system is that, if he's so defensive minded, how are players still having career seasons when they come and play in his system? Rolston was never seen as this productive before he came to Minnesota and now he's widely considered one of the top free agents. Burns had a career year last year and Koivu was on pace for a career year before he got chopped down by Ohlund. Bouchard could be a 80 point a year guy if he'd just shoot the puck more.
The thing about Gaborik as well is that while his points suggest he's a point-per-game player, that's not entirely true. He's a very streaky scorer and often scores goals in bunches. I think that if the Wild had a top, playmaking center for him to play with, that would change quite a bit.
Bottom line is that trading Gaborik could be very beneficial for the franchise, but it needs to be the right trade and not just a spur of the moment trade to get him out of Minnesota.
