Right on the money. There was a slim chance the Sox would have picked up the 20 million form 09, but they likely would have let him walk. He'd have gotten 12-18 from another team. But now he's torpedoed another chunk of his worth. How much is a 36 year old 300-25-100 guy worth per year? Who can't run? Can't throw 60% of the time?
Manny just lost 10 million per year by his antics.
Well at least Bore-**** seems happy. And that's all that matters to Manny it seems.

Dude. 45% of the country wouldn't vote for a black man. 53% wouldn't vote for a woman. 38% wouldn't vote for a republican. 41% wouldn't vote for a democrat. 12% wouldn't vote for a man. 27% wouldn't vote for a man under 6 feet tall. 33% wouldn't vote for a person smarter than themselves. 69% wouldn't vote for a person dumber than themselves. What do these numbers tell you? One thing.
People who won't vote for you don't matter. Restrict their options enough and they'll either find a way to vote and contradict their deep personal assessment or not.

If you got issues with WV democrats you're gonna love the WV republicans.

Nobody lives in Detroit, just as no one lives in Da Bronx or Inglewood. Athletes and anyone else with a steady paycheck live in the burbs. Detroit has no desireable inner city. There is no mid-town Manhattan or Back Bay equivalent. In the Detroit area the further you are from downtown the pricier it gets. In all cities those that can afford to live in the suburbs, but most cities have at least one desireable area withing the city limits. Not so with Detroit.

From the actual news story, not the lame follow up printed today

By all accounts, the incident began when Boike asked Maney and several companions, including Maney's brother, Brian, 23, to move from a section of a bar on the top floor of the multilevel establishment to accommodate Cherilus and his BC teammates, one of whom the Maneys identified as DeJuan Tribble, another senior cocaptain. Witnesses also seem to agree that Brian's girlfriend told Boike he was rude and that Boike said he had the right to make the request as a part-owner of the bar.

What happened next is disputed.

Doyle said Boike grabbed the woman by the arm, pulled her off a barstool, and pushed the chair toward her. Boike said the woman kicked the chair at him, prompting him to scream an obscenity at her. Both sides agree that Sean Maney then approached Boike. Both of them are about 5-foot-10-inches and 180 pounds. Accounts of the subsequent events differ.

Did the story mention that the victim only got involved when the cop pucnhed his brother's girlfriend.

Does that affect anyone's opinions that the thug "was just helping a cop".

So why did these guy "attack" this poor soul... was he just sitting at a bar drinking his beer minding his own business when 3 guys jumped him, I think not. And what is happening to the State Police Sergeant??? I think what happens to him is a little more important than a rook football player.

Read the story. The cop is a part owner of the bar. He ordered a group to vacate their table and seats so the posse could sit there instead. The victim said why and got a face full of fat cop. The thugs may have intended to separate the two combatants, but got just a bit carried away I'd say. Lost consciousness, broken neck. Yeah, when you're 6'7" you should probably refrain from strangling people, jumping on them, and kicking them when they're unconscious.

Thug got off easy. If he wasn't a BC 1st round pick he'd have gotten 15-20.

TR, the discount Hossa takes would be if he goes to the Bruins. He wouldn't be staying for less, he'd be staying for more, more than anyone else can pay him. Boston can't afford to match Pitt's offer (come to think of it Pitt can't afford that offer either), but the play here is that he'd take less money to play in Boston. If the B's take the Murray hit then they can go 7 million max. Big if, but the Pens have already mentioned 8 million. Pretty much guaranteeing nobody can beat it (and that Malkin's gone after next year).
