Posted Monday November 23, 2009, About: Should Notre Dame join Big Ten?
Alright. When I said that Notre Dame needs to either get in or get out I mean that they either need to join a BCS conference or not be allowed to keep their BCS deal. Although I brought up the NBC contract, the biggest reason that non-Irish fans dislike Notre Dame, at least from what I have seen, is because they do not think It's fair that Notre Dame will get an automatic berth if it finishes at least number 8 in the final standings. Really as long as the Irish finish in the top 12 they will almost certainly not be left out of a BCS bowl. The perception might be different if the BCS bowls werent such big money makers, but Im not sure I agree with a team taking home millions of dollars and not having to split it with anyone because they do not reside in a conference. I used Navy as a minor example to show the unfairness of Notre Dames BCS deal. 152, you are right that Navys preseason bowl sign in is similar to Notre Dames but both are on completely different levels and Notre Dames affects a lot more programs than Navys. Navy is very similar to Notre Dame in the fact that they are both long time independents. I'm not saying Navy deserves a BCS bid. What I was trying to say is that if you believe that a team should be rewarded based on their body of work and not on their name or other accolades, then shouldnt Navy have the same deal with the BCS as Notre Dame?
Posted Monday November 23, 2009, About: Should Notre Dame join Big Ten?
I think its unfair to the other 119 FBS programs that Notre Dame has their own TV deal and has the easiest path to the BCS than any other team. Its also unfair for the football playing members of the Big East that Notre Dame gets the conferences Gator Bowl slot if they just barely miss out on going to the BCS. The only reason the Irish have all these accolades are because they bring in big bucks for college football and the serves that support the sports. A team should not receive special privileges because of their name. Navy brings in a lot of fans to their bowls; thats why in the past few years they have signed a contract with an interested bowl before the season begins. What if Navy broke through in a similar way that Air Force did in the late 90s and won 11 or 12 games? They are an independent that brings a whole bunch of fans to their bowl games. Shouldnt they then receive a BCS bid? Would they? The answer is absolutely not. Notre Dame should not be allowed to have all the privileges they have all because they have ???Notre Dame??? as their school name. They either need to join a conference or get out. If we are going to go by the principal that the reason Notre Dame gets the special treatment is because of their name, money, fan base, and prestige, then shouldnt every time a team with a big name, such as LSU, Penn State, or Nebraska win 9 or more games automatically go to a BCS bowl. Im pretty sure those schools would sell just as many tickets and have just as big of a TV audience as Notre Dame would. They would at least make enough revenue that wouldnt be too far behind what Notre Dame would pull in.
Posted Wednesday November 04, 2009, About: Clausen clouds Notre Dame's future
With or without Clauson in 2010, Notre Dame would not be a National Title contender, atleast in the public eye. With Clauson back, the Irish will undoubtably have one of the best offenses in the country, but conisidering the defense has given up 30 or more points four times this season and is a big reason for the Irishes close games against inferior oppenents, I can't say the Irish have proven that they can be labeled as a preseason National Title contender. Teams like, Florida, LSU, and USC that are seen as National Title Contenders have stout defenses to start the season. Even if Notre Dame isn't a National Title contender to start the 2010 season, having Clauson back would obviously have a major impact on the team next year and would definitely raise expectations. Not only would Clauson keep the Irish Offense rolling, but his leadership would positively affect the chemistry of the entire team, giving everyone more confedience in their ability to meet expectations. One player can often make the difference between going to a good bowl and competing for a Championship.
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Will Richt demote UGA assistants?
I feel that Willie Martinez should be let go after this season. Georgias Defense has not played at a consistenly high level since before the Bama game last year. Even with the talent on last years squad, UGA gave up 38 or more points against Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, and Georgia Tech. When you out gain a team (Florida) in a 49-10 loss and put up almost 500 yards of Offense in a loss (Georgia Tech), you got problems with your Defense! Mark Richt is a very good coach and a great man, but he needs to evaluate the direction the program is going in and make appropriate changes. I think Bobo deserves another year considering the Offense played so well last year and showed signs of potential untill the last three games. Georgia has been consistently cranking out top 10 recruiting classes since Richt has been there. Its a shame that UGA underacheives while Florida and Alabama, whom have not won as many games as uga has since Richt was hired; but both, along with LSU, are rising at a much higher level than Georgia and are being seen at a higher level when it comes to national perecption. I'm a patient and supportive UGA fan, but it hurts when your team is predicted each year to make some noise in the SEC and finally break through with that memorable season and just watch it come falling back down to earth.
Posted Sunday October 11, 2009, About: USC QB order changing?
For Mustains sake, it would be good if he moved up to the back up spot at QB; this way, he would get more playing time and more opportunities to show of his abilities as a formor 5 star quaterback. Its a shame that Mustain is going to be no more than a back up to a true-feshman at USC when he came out of high school as one of the top prospects in 2006 along side Matthew Stafford. Mustain should have never transfered to USC. If Mustain was looking for a place where he could prove himself by beating out some of the more talented QB recruits in the country then USC with out a doubt fits that description, but with his talent and experience as a, albiet short term, starter at Arkansas, Mustain should have chosen a school where he knew he would have an excelent shot at starting and proving the 5 star talent that he was labeled with. I hope he sees a decent amount of playing time the rest of the year, but being a back up, even at USC, is not going to be enough to show scouts that you can be a future starter in the NFL.
Posted Thursday October 08, 2009, About: Tebow-less Gators may resort to Wildcat
I'm pretty certain that Coach Meyer is not staying up all night planning for an opponent that he will not play till another 2 months, if at all. Even as a uga fan, I would be very surprised if Florida doesnt win the SEC east, but Georgia, especially after last years embarrassment, will give Florida everything it has and it looks as if South Carolina may be a potential land mine. Lets see how Urban prepares for LSU before we talk about what he is going to do about Alabama. With Ole Miss, South Carolina, LSU, and Auburn still waiting to take a crack at the Tide, I dont think Nick Saban is worrying much about the Gators right now with the gauntlet he has ahead of him.

Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: LSU's Miles hopes Tebow plays
To be the best you have to beat the best and Tebow is the best! Im an avid UGA fan, but I do not think that LSU is looking like the 4th best team in the country right now. Although UGA has played pretty good Defense the last two games, they kept LSUs running game in check until the very end and they held LSU to 2 field goals even after the tigers completed a few big passing plays. It would probably help LSU if Tebow didn't play, because if he does and he is at least close to 100%, I think he will be a heck of a force for LSU to try and reckon with. Florida cannot and they will not win the national championship if Tebow is their only offense, but even if he has to carry most of the load, his unbelievable leadership abilities and unmatchable passion will give Florida an edge that not many teams can match, not even my dawgs. I dont know if Florida will score 40 to 50 points a game like they did last year, but Florida has a formidable Defense that will be their source of power that will bring them victories. All Tebow needs to do is keep playing like he has and play with the passion that brought his team 2 national championships. If Tebow is healthy going into the LSU game, Miles may be wishing that Tebow had a few more recovery days. Tims a player that doesnt come around every year. Hes talented, yes, but its his leadership, passion, and love of the game that gives him an edge over almost every player he faces. Tebow will be ready Saturday. For LSUs sake, Miles better be too.
Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: Rumors surround FSU's Bowden
I respect what Bobby Bowden has accomplished just as much as the next fan (with the exception of gator and cane fans), but I, along with many others, feel that Bobby Bowden should step down sooner rather than later. Bowden, much like Joe Pa, continues to coach because it???s what he loves. Bowden???s heart is in Tallahassee, but when can one exhaust there stay at a school? That answer is easy: when they are no longer winning. Bowden is not the same coach that turned FSU into a 90s power. He???s not the same coach that won at least a share of the ACC for almost 10 straight years. As of lately, FSU has been nothing more than an also ran team, a consistent bowl team and nothing more. That???s not FSU football and that???s not Bobby Bowden! I am not a Bowden Basher and I believe he will go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time, but for his own sake, I think he needs to put down the clip board after this year. Vince Dooley retired before he lost his edge as a coach and I think Bowden has lost his. Bowden???s reputation and status will be intact no matter what happens to FSU the rest of the reason. As I college football fan and a fan of the work Bowden has done at FSU and for college football, I don???t want him to leave on a sour note. That would be very unfortunate for such a great coach and man. Although I say all this and we were all saying the same thing about Joe Pa before the 2005 season and look what he has done at Penn State since. At least Bowden has yet to have a losing season, but Joe Pa just might be a coaching god that just has a little bit more in the tank than Bowden. That???s just how coaching is sometimes and that???s how life is. I wish the best for Coach Bowden. I just hope he makes the right decision for the school, but most importantly for himself.
Posted Wednesday April 15, 2009, About: Sources: Paulus may play QB for Michigan
If Paulus will only be eligible to play for one season, then I think it would not be in the best interest of Michigan to add him at QB. Michigan would be better served sticking with the Quaterbacks they currently have on roster and just wait for them to develope, even if that means having another poor season. Unless they go 0-12, I can't see Rodriquez getting fired even if he has another losing season
Posted Saturday December 27, 2008, About: How Georgia kept coach from Auburn
I don't think Searels wanted to work for an athletic department that has no idea how to go about a coaching search. I would rather stay with a head coach that has won 70+ games than one that has only won 5 in two seasons.
Posted Wednesday December 17, 2008, About: Rutgers lands RB commitment
Rutgers is continuing to pick up speed in the Big East. They arguably have the second best recruiting area (besides USF) in the entire conference. If schiano stays on as head coach, even with more lucrative offers, eventually Rutgers is going to be one of the top teams in the conference year in and year out!
Posted Monday May 12, 2008, About: Inside Roberts-St. John's deal
St. John's has not been committed to a coach since the late 80s. It is a shame that a program that was once so proud has not been able to resurrect it self. SJ needs a coach that has experienced the college game and the ups and downs that come with it. Programs like Notre Dame, UCLA, and Ohio State have found coaches that are relighting the fire in their teams and are bringing them back to basketball prominence. Until SJ finds the ???ONE???, they may continue to dwell in basketball mediocrity for an even longer time.
Posted Monday May 12, 2008, About: Big Ten schools calling App State
The App State coaches would probably be able to offer better advice on how to defend the spread option than on how to beat Michigan. Rodriguez has implemented his spread option offense at Michigan, an offense similar to App State.
Posted Monday May 12, 2008, About: LB recruit picks Dogs over Gators
This is a good commitment for Georgia. The dawgs need all the help they can get with the great balance that the SEC has. Florida has been recruiting very well and the gamecocks continue show signs of vast potential. Any team, including UGA, that wants to compete for an SEC championship must be a strong competitor in the recruiting race, and that starts with nabbing the in-state talent.
Posted Friday May 09, 2008, About: Another Hoyas player will transfer
Georgetown may not be the power that everyone thinks it is. Although Gtown is one of the most storied programs in the Big East, they do not have the tradition or prestige that other northern/mid-eastern teams have, such as Indiana. Gtown???s academics may have been a factor in this player???s decision to transfer, but the demographics of the university were probably bigger factors. With the addition of Louisville and Marquette, as well as the resent revival of Notre Dame and West Virginia, Gtown is going to have its work cut out for them if they want to continue to attract great basketball talent that will complement its system. It seems that many of the young ballers want to go to a school in the sunny states.
Posted Thursday May 08, 2008, About: Trojans, Coliseum near deal
The Coliseum is full of great tradition and caries a long legacy of USC football. USC deserves to play at the Coliseum. If I were a USC fan, I would not want to play at the Rose Bowl where my hated rival, UCLA, plays their home games. Playing in the actual "Rose Bowl" is an exception.
Posted Wednesday April 30, 2008, About: Will Irish join football conference?
Notre Dame should join a conference. They are and will always be one of the most prestigious programs in the country, even with a 3-9 record. They should not receive all of the extra benefits from the BCS and others, such as, NBC. Oklahoma, USC, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, and other predominant football program share their money with in the other conference members. I think that Notre Dame should join the Big East and Penn State should leave the Big Ten and also join the BE. PSU was a B10 expansion team and would not be a huge blow to the Ohio State/Michigan conference. PSU was already considered for BE expansion back when the conference was created. If this plan happened, the B10 and the BE would each have 10 members. With ten members the BE and B10 could follow the 9 conference games format that the Pac10 recently adopted. There would still be controversy, but I think this idea should be taken into consideration.
