Look...it's not the end all be all. Just like a fast 40 time doesn't guarantee NFL success. Every year there's a workout warrior that moves up the draft board because of an amazing work out and is a total bust...Mike Mamula being one name that quickly comes to mind. Yes...you would prefer that the players you draft run fast, can bench press a small country, and scores well on their Wonderlic. But most importantly...they are graded on how well they perform when they are on the football field. That's the most important test.

So how is it that Derek Anderson was able to succeed in Cleveland when he scored a 19 and a 21 on the Wonderlic and Donovan McNabb's low score was a 12?!?! Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl with Baltimore and would you like to guess his Wonderlic score?? He scored a 22. Intelligence plays a part in being a successful NFL QB but it's not the end all be all. Hollywood Henderson once joked that Terry Bradshaw couldn't spell cat if you spotted him the c and the t...but he could sure sling the ball. I know...different time...differnet era...different defenses etc. While I realize that you're most likely a troll that simply likes to stir the pot please make a better argument for your case.

Here are some of the sample questions from the Wonderlic test that are a little more difficult (source: walterfootball.com/draftwonderlic.php:

In printing an article of 48,000 words, a printer decides to use two sizes of type. Using the larger type, a printed page contains 1,800 words. Using smaller type, a page contains 2,400 words. The article is allotted 21 full pages in a magazine. How many pages must be in smaller type?

Which of the following numbers is least like the others?
9 17 211
10 45 63
19 3 1,025
23 189 3,017

Which letter is missing from the group below?
E B J
A A A
F C R
B B D
C A C
D B ?

Now tell me...how does knowing the answers to these questions help you be a better quarterback?? It doesn't. Derek Anderson, Pro Bowler from the Cleveland Browns took it twice with scores of 19 and 21. Ben Roethlisberger scored a 25 while Rex Grossman scored a 29...who would you rather have under center on your team?? Donovan McNabb's scores...16 and 12...and he seems to be able to do pretty well. And how's this one for you...Akili Smith...draft bust for the Bengals...took it twice and scored 37 on one attempt and 15 on another. Frankly...this test means squat.

Tony Romo scored a 30 while Bledsoe scored a 37...get your numbers right. (Source: www.macmirabile.com/Wonderlic/Wonderlic.htm) Know what Marino scored?? A 14...seems like he turned out alright as a QB. Now guess what Alex Smith QB for the 49rs scored. That would be a 40...he must be a Hall of Famer with that score!! By the way...another QB who scored a 22 on the Wonderlic is named Favre.

"The playbook has everything to do with overthrowing recievers! "

Is it possible that the rookie receivers he was throwing to might have been partially responsible as well? Poor route running or simply fatigue on the part of the WR's could have contributed to the balls being overthrown. Plus if a quarterback is thinking too much they also tend to be off a bit mechanically...because they're thinking about what play was called, the snapcount, the route the receivers are running, the defense, etc...instead of just dropping back and throwing the ball. Much like a pitcher...if a QB isn't sound mechaniclly their delivery is going to be all over the place. How about giving the guy some time to learn the offense and get used to the speed of the NFL before passing judgment.

Look at the statistics...about 8 out of 10 quarterbacks drafted in the NFL will be labeled a bust. How about giving the guy a few years to see how he turns out. And based on your thinking...Eastern Illinois must be must be like a minor league system for NFL QB's since 100% of the QB's they've sent to the NFL are Pro Bowlers (Tony Romo). And since Peyton Manning went to Tennessee that must mean 100% for them as well...oh wait...maybe not (Heath Shuler, Tee Martin, Casey Clausen, etc).
Posted Monday May 05, 2008, About: Dolphins search for slot receiver
As inept as Cameron was as a head coach they did draft the starting center with the 2nd round pick they received from the Welker trade. Miami could have matched the contract that NE signed him to since he was a restricted free agent but with as many holes as the team has it's hard to justify that amount of money for a slot wide receiver position. Plus the Dolphins received an extra 4th round pick from the trade instead of just letting NE sign him to a free agent contract. And Davone Bess the undrafted free agent WR from Hawaii is looking like a great pick-up early on...though since the calendar is still in May it's WAY too early to tell.
