The fire have done well since AEG sold them. It looks like he wasnt sure where to make a stand with a franchise. Once they sold NY and DC I think LA became the choice by default and it was really the only place that could have landed Beckham.

I hate to even defend AEG because of the Lalas love affair but I give them props for putting up the money for us to get a league going.

Actually Houston is still owned by AEG. Looks like they own just the Galaxy and Houston now in MLS. I know they were trying to offload the team so I wasnt sure if they ever did. And De La Hoya only only was trying to buy a minority stake in the team if he even went through with the deal but I think he backed out. I'm not sure on that though.

Doesnt he still own Houston?

I dont know it just seems silly that we force our own kids into playing college ball but yet we'll draft an 18 year old from Spain and not even bat an eye.
Posted Sunday May 17, 2009, About: Anschutz won't invest in English soccer
You should be thankful he was willing to take on multiple franchises when MLS looked like a bad move for anyone with deep pockets. Its not like they had investors beating at the front office door wanting in.

2, is too many for a league of less than 20. 3, is just asinine.

Here's the thing that gets me. If you can do 3 teams in Canada you should be able to come up with a couple more. Make your own league, sit back and watch it grow.
Posted Saturday May 09, 2009, About: Name, logo leaked for Philly expansion team
Its **** gorgeous! I was getting so fed up with the Whoever FC or Real salt lake crap. Stop kissing other countries teams ass it only makes MLS look like farm systems for those clubs.

Nike can't do a thing about the snake as it was originally NOT Nike's design. They incorporated it into their design. it's part of American history and it's use dates back LONG before Nike ever existed. Nike really doesnt even have a leg to stand on if Philly decided to use " Dont tread on me" in their logo either which I feel like should be there considering where the team is going to play.

whats this infatuation you have with other peoples bums?
Posted Friday April 10, 2009, About: Garber: D.C. may lose United
Garber's been hanging out with Stern. There's just this tiny little problem though : DC United isnt even remotely close to being a premier sports franchise in the US.
Posted Sunday February 08, 2009, About: Galaxy rejects Milan's Beckham offer
I for one am extremely proud of LA for finally standing up to brand Beckham. Had they done this from the start it might of been better for all parties involved. I'm glad they didn't take the initial offer and I'd be thrilled if they held on to him till he can use the escape clause in his contract. either pay what brand beckham is worth to any team or AC Milan doesn't get him till he's almost another year older. The age factor really only plays against Beckham anyway. LA is and was content to keep him till he retires and cash in on the cow.

They have the money to be successful IF they bring in the right people to run the club.
Posted Tuesday November 11, 2008, About: Brady's rehab slowed by infection
What's up with the staph infections? Everywhere you turn someone else is getting post surgery staph infections. Don't doctors and nurses clean themselves anymore?
Posted Friday November 07, 2008, About: Lalas blasts Beckham, Donovan
Aww sounds like Alexi can't find work and is a wee bit bitter. What a chump. Mediocre defender, sorry **** GM.

If someone's allegiance depends on being fast tracked through the system then it's best that he plays for Mali anyway. Best of luck to him

Just a guess but I think Jesus would have picked a team by now?

Posted Saturday October 25, 2008, About: Talented defender still open for U.S. call
It's crazy this kid is even able to play for the US when he spent all of what 3 -4 years in the states before leaving again? Why even waste your time with that?
Posted Tuesday October 14, 2008, About: Gullit to work for AC Milan
He was a horrible GM, not only in LA but also in NY and before that San Jose, Notice the downward spiral of all those teams after he comes in? Ok NY has always pretty much sucked but he actually made them worse.
Posted Tuesday October 14, 2008, About: Barkley: Nash is slipping
I dont know, judging by the last year or so Nash has been slipping a whole lot. I'd say he fell out of the car sometime around February. And Parker never even got picked up. He's still sitting at McDonalds eating his happy meal. violently sending text messages to his mexican wife in french. she thinks he's telling her he loves her but really he's begging for a ride home.
Posted Tuesday August 12, 2008, About: Galaxy ends Gullit-Lalas feud
Ruud never seemed to take the job seriously. He had valid complaints about the reserve squad and what not. But when you don't even attend the draft of your team something isnt right from the start.

Lalas should of never been a GM to begin with. He did a great job trying to sell the US market on Keller being the best keeper in the world during the 06 world cup. The ability to say things like that with a straight face is indeed a talent. He'd make a great publicist for someone.

I just hope Cobi is given the support to succeed. He deserves at least that much.
Posted Thursday July 31, 2008, About: Will MLS punish Fire's Blanco?
Grats to US soccer for taking a stand and banning this bozo from the competition for the rest of his playing days.

The message is pretty clear. You can hit another player, even kick him when he's down. But if you so much as even think of head butting a staffer your head will roll!

I honestly didn't think they had the balls to do it.
