Dekeyser was playing great without training camp and without too much time under Babcock's tutelage. It will be interesting to see what he can do with a full year.
I saw yesterday that the Wings signed a Swedish d-man that wears #5. No, Lidstrom isn't coming back, some guy named Backman. They list him at 6'-2", 169 pounds--wow that's a pole. Anywho, he's just 20, Nill said he probably has 2-3 years before NHL play.
Yes, he was born in CT and went to UMass-Amherst--sounds tougher to say Amherst. From the tiny town that brought you The Fighter now brings you The Goalie. Wonder if Wahlberg is going to make a movie about Quick.
These playoffs have been pretty brutal on fanbases. First how Toronto lost, and then some of these loses for the Rangers...brutal. I mean you thought the Rangers got a break on that game winner the other night, it took one of the oddest bounces in their favor and then the Bruins still scored.
I didn't expect him back this year. What's important is his career going forward; no matter what one thinks, he is key to this team--he may not score a ton of points, but he's disruptive and an excellent penalty killer. I just want to know is if this going to affect him long term, and of course they don't know that yet.
Howard's kind of been the same way in the past, but these playoffs I haven't seen him get up in anybody's face. Just cool and collected. I like both ways, but I think his current state is indicative of the Wings' play.
That's what bugs you about him? How about the wrestling takedown moves or the catcher facewash when people scrum around his net? Don't get me wrong, I love his compete and him as a player, but I could see why opposing teams would get ticked off at his liberties and want to run him. But I guess maybe that's his tactic, irk 'em with the little pokes and then flop when they come at him.
Babs has been smiling A LOT this postseason. It seems every in-game interview he smiles a knowing smile before he starts answering the questions. This seems like the perfect season for Mike: plenty enough reasons to tell people they're awful, plenty enough reason to say a player is equally important for the success of both teams, plenty enough reasons to give praise, ample opportunity to lean on his vets.
When we were in Chicago a while ago my buddies bought shirts, "The mustache of Champions", paying homage to Chicago champions with Ditka, Phil Jackson and Q's face on the front. Kinda funny.
