I think that was the original idea behind Chivas USA when they came into MLS that they would represent the Spanish speaking community and the Galaxy the English, but LA being LA everyone just supports who is doing better on the table.

nice to see the love for the old NASL teams with the sounders coming back and wouldn't be surprised to see portland and vancouver name their teams the timbers and whitecaps, but I can't see a second MLS team in NY or Red Bull purchasing the Cosmos name. nor can I see a traveling all-star team. It would be cool to see the Cosmos again, but I don't expect it anytime soon

I remember when the first came into the league and they signed romario during his march to his supposed 1000th goal and no one went to games. I knew then the team wasn't going to make it. I think the USL in general might be doomed as MLS is now entering into the markets where they have sucessful teams and basically stealing the established fan base.

Ottawa is not getting a team. No way 2 canadien cities get the next 2 franchises and montreal and vancouver are way in front of ottawa.

So far the only signing from the USL sounders to the MLS one that I know of is le toux who should be playing in the MLS anyways. The colors are moving to be more like the seahawks colors. I went to a soccer game at qwest that had 45,000 and it still felt empty. To create the atmosphere they want they will have to build something soccer specific.

The game against Bolivia was played in Rio, they had no excuses for high altitude. Dunga's belief that Ronnie Gaucho will play himself into a top 5 player is what is going to get him fired.

He looked out of shape in the qualifiers. He couldn't even go the full 90 in either match. 0-0 against a bolivian side that was a man down for pretty much the entire second half and last in the qualfiers. they were celebrating after the draw. The game felt like a loss.

I would want to see RBNY pulling in more than a 12,000 a game average before committing to another team in the area. Not sure how far away from the PATH the new stadium in Harrison is, but hopefully it will bring more people to the games.

I am all about following your local squad. My hometown team I grew up with is serie b, but looking like they will be promoted for the first time ever has me more excited than anything happening in any European league. When I lived in socal I loved going to the local games. I would take going to see a MLS game like Galaxy v. Chivas live over watching a regular European league game on tv any day.

Hmmm... After reading post after post of people calling American athletes playing for other countries traitors during the olympics, I wonder how many I will see calling Soumare a traitor for wanting to play for the USMNT.

I don't think MLS teams are ready for this. The mexican 1a isn't exactly tearing up libertadores and MLS teams haven't been able to beat mexican 1a with much consistency. Maybe MLS should focus on concacaf cl first.

Its about time the league addressed this. as the league gets better talent this was going to become a bigger and bigger problem. it is frustrating when your team is trying to grab some points to qualify for the playoffs and they are without their big players.

I've been calling this for a year now. He's been doing his rehab at the team's facilities and word is his dad want to see him play for fla. unless a team like man city throws some crazy cash at him he is going to play for fla.

The NBA wants showcase their players in the olympics. Just look how much the game has grown internationally since the dream team to now with the china v usa game that had a billion viewers. the NBA will not turn its back that market and the potential revenue that means for them. I doubt the league will allow a team to block a player from playing for their country.

Didn't he have total control at RBNY? That didn't exactly turn out for the best especially when his first big signing was reyna who took up 20% of the cap and never played. If this doesn't work out Leiweke has to go. he has been completely inept with his firings and hirings. Both the galaxy and the kings of the NHL.

Leiweke should be next to go. Not only has he allowed a mess of the galaxy, but also of another AEG owned team which he is president, the la kings. both have suffered from poor management decisions. AEG shoudl stick to just running stadiums and let a more competent group run the teams that play in them.

I really question AEG's ability to run a professional sports franchise. This is the second MLS franchise they let lalas run into the ground and the team the own in the NHL, the kings are also poorly managed. I understand gullit's frustration.

ronaldo doesn't have a contract right now. who ever signs him won't have to pay a transfer fee. He says he is going to wait til he is healthy again to sign with a club. He has stated however that he would like to finish his career with flamengo and the president of the club has already said they are going to attempt to sign him. This is why I see him not going to MLS.

Henry on the other hand spends loads of time in the US, loves NYC and already has some endorsement deals here. He seems a more natural fit in MLS. Seattle ownership has already stated they would spend the money to bring in a Henry type player.

In agreement with you oter, I keep saying ronaldo will sign and finish our his career with flamengo. He isn't coming to MLS. He won't be on the national team. He hasn't been called up since 2006 WC.
