CK is going to find out the limitations of being a HC with today's players. When you have your first management position it is common to implement ideas you have had and are now anxious to get going. Unfortunately, there will be push-back and since CK does not have a storied successful HCing record, he does not have the clout. I hope he doesn't mention the "shed."

If you assume that Urban Meyer recruits "like the SEC" and if you have paid attention to the reaction to him by some B1G HC's (whining), it should be clear that the SEC is the 800 lb gorilla in college football recruiting... in violation or not. After watching OSU endure NCAA violations for players selling their own memorabilia and getting some free tatooes and then see Auburn win the NC because some booster found a way to get thousands of dollars into the coffers of Newton's father's church for a new roof and other construction... under the NCAA's nose...is hard to take. So, onward Urban Meyer!!!

I don't think a rookie mini-camp is where you decide a starting QB, but maybe the Jets are so desperate to resolve this issue they will. I don't blame them because they really have no other choice. Sanchez has shone he ain't up to the gig and the only thing keeping him around is his big contract... at least for now. With the recent success of rookie QB's in the NFL, the Jets can't be blamed for getting excited about their guy. We'll begin to see in pre-season games if Smith is the real deal. Until then, the Jets will be all-in with ole Geno.

It's a tale of two Geno Smith's. If evaluated after last year's first 5 games he'd be a top 10 talent. If you look at the last 8, well he wouldn't even get drafted. I read somewhere that Smith thought he should have been the #1 pick! His conduct shows a total lack of living in reality and may mean he's uncoach-able. I'd say going to the Jets will be a humbling experience as well as frustrating for Smith. It looks like he needs to mature quite a bit.

I'm still trying to figure out why Smith really fired his agent. If it is because he was pissed because of his 2nd round selection and is taking his anger out on the agent, it shows a lack of maturity. No matter, Sanchez is likely to be the Jets starting QB and that is an example of the bad shape the Jets are in. The difference will be that when Sanchez struggles, Rex will be quick to insert Smith. When that happens and if Smith has an "on" day (that means not throwing a flare pass to the coach on the sideline) then that could mean the bench for Sanchez for a while or until the real Smith shows up. I look for a back-and-forth deal with those two while the Jets continue their losing ways.

He put the Lakers future on the line with Howard...the new face of the Lakers? All the while he may very well be one-and-done and where does that leave them? Howard's presence put Pau in a disposable position and he was disrespected all season by D'Antoni.

What a mess Jim Buss has created with the Lakers. Going all-in with Howard was supposed to be his stroke of genius and it will likely blow up in his face. I don't blame Howard for seeing what is out there... he was obviously miserable being a Laker this year. Steve Nash... what was that all about? As for D'Antoni... is there anything necessary to say? A very bad hire given the team make-up. This is a prime example of how silver-spoon people like Jim Buss, who was handed his job and didn't earn it, can make all the wrong decisions. Running a professional sports team is a tough, tough gig and requires a great deal of knowledge and experience.

My son goes to Northwestern (in the marching band) so I paid close attention to them last year. They had Michigan beat (in Ann Arbor) last year as it took a miralce catch to force OT and UM prevailed. I'm a bit nervous about my beloved Buckeyes playing in Evanston next October... could be the toughest challenge till going to UM.

After looking at the last 2 recruiting classes that Urban Meyer has landed, I believe we are close to the top tier SEC team levels. Watch for two killer DE's to disrupt other team's O. I'm still having nightmares about Florida doing that in the NC game... making Troy Smith's life miserable.

Watching that presser it seemed to me that D'Antoni was more irked by the question then Bryant's tweets. The Lakers played more team basketball yesterday then with Kobe on the court and with a lot of hustle early on, but... they missed a ton of open jumpers. 79 points won't get it done.

Somebody must have put a bug in his ear... maybe thinks he'll get beat out by that 3-point shooting kid. Here's a question to you Hoosier fans: is Crean a top-flight HC? I ask this because it looked to me that he got totally out-coached by Boheim. Indiana looked like they had never seen a 2-3 zone before and were not prepared for it. There was no ball movement, no motion by players and it seemed Zellar had no passing options when the D collapsed on him inside. Most surprising was as the game went on NOTHING CHANGED... all this is on the coach. I liked Crean before the attack on the assistant coach on another team claiming he ruined IU's program. I knoe the guy was Sanson's AC and was a busy telephone caller, but really? IU set their own program back when they let that punk student disrespect KNoght and drummed him out... just sayin'

Concerned about the drama? The Jags could have used some drama. This is amazing, a fired HC defending his poor decisions like they were good ones. Maybe, Tebow would have brought some life into that team. I'm not a Tebow fan (I'm still smarting over my Buckeyes getting pillaged by the Tebow's Gators), but my observation is that he does find a way to win and is better then Blaine Gabbert. It was shocking how bad IU looked on offense last night. Zeller got eaten alive under the basket. The Hoosier's seemed to be confused by the D, Crean didn't have them prepared IMO. An old axiom is that you move the ball around quickly against a zone.... IU sleep walked. As for shooting over the zone, Oliadipo shot only one three. For years the Orangemen have been known for a tough 2-3 zone, it should have been no surprise to anyone.

I find it difficult to listen top D'Antoni talk... I don't know how he gets gigs after an interview. The Lakers seem to be better with subtraction. For example, when either Gasol OR Howard are out they play better. Now they are better without World Peace launching 3's all over the place. Nash had a good 1st half last night but disappeared in the 2nd half. Kobe is a ball-stopper, but just what does he stop? They haven't shown any effective offensive system to stop! The ball in Kobe's hands does represent the Lakers' best opportunity to score but the side-effects are very bad... the rest of the players become non-participants and become disinterested in playing defense. It looks to me like every Laker player except Kobe (and Meeks) are looking forward to an early and longer off-season.

Sometimes the NBA refs are so bad it is hard to watch the games. That foul not called on Kobe against Rubio in the last second was inexcusable... the ref was looking right at them 6 feet away!
