Posted Saturday September 19, 2009, About: NFC GM: Crabtree's diva act was a warning
Any gm/coach who in any way allows their own strategy to be dictated by what the Raiders do should be immediately fired. I am sure they are happy they didn't take him, but lets go overboard by giving the Raider front office, i.e. Al Davis, credit.
Posted Saturday September 19, 2009, About: Ump's 'framing' admission surprises Angels
Lost in this is the fact Napoli shouldn't have moved his glove. If it was a strike then you don't have to move your glove after you catch the ball, period. I thought the pitch was a strike, but it is entirely possible Napoli moving his glove after he caught the pitch messed up the call. Lost in this is the fact that catchers don't frame to give the umpire a better look, they frame to make borderline pitches look better. So, at times it makes sense that an umpire will judge a ball out of the strike zone on borderline pitch if the catcher is moving his glove to help his pitcher. That pitch, to me, was right down the middle so it shouldn't have been called a ball, but if you believe Napoli frames pitches only to help umps call a more accurate game, I have a bridge I would like to sell you........

Where was Torii's opinion whenever K-Rod got a save last year and had his over the top spin move screaming and shouting celebrations?
Posted Sunday December 21, 2008, About: Arizona-Boston trade in making?
It only seems that way because CC and Teix are the blue chippers that will set the market for others. Once Teix signs you will see a lot of movement for guys like Pat the Bat out of Philly, Abreu, Adam Dunn etc. Also the Red Sox probably won't have to trade anything too great for Byrnes, he has an injury history and this deal smells of a salary dump.
Posted Sunday December 21, 2008, About: Red Sox balking at Rangers' price
You have to trade quality to get quality at times. The Rangers aren't just going to give away a promising young catcher. That being said the Red Sox could move either bowden or clay for salty or teagarden with both sides being pretty happy. I know the Rangers already moved Laird but keep in mind they are always desperate for pitching. They have been burned on a few past trades trying to find a young pitcher (Brandon McCarthy) because free agent pitchers simply don't want to sign with them. The Sox have had trouble finding a young catcher to groom and traded away Shoppach and Bard who are serviceable. I think the deal makes sense for both teams in the end but people have to stop hoping one team fleeces the other, they both know what cards the other one is holding.
Posted Saturday December 13, 2008, About: Ex-players bar wives from Commissioner meeting
I understand the point you are making here, however, I think Carson is doing a great disservice to other players in the league and their family members with his stance. He unnecessarily implies that either Wenzel's wife would be unable to cope with profanity or that he or other players are upset that at these meetings, which are business meetings in nature, there will be an expected decorum or behavior. If Carson is from a school of thought that teaches people to not cuss or act ridiculous in front of women. I can respect that, but I will assume that that school also looks down upon those that act like fools in meetings. I will add one other point. Eleanor Perfetto deserves the respect of every man in that room. Her family and their well being is tied to the league and how it takes care of former players. She bathes and feeds the person she loves as she slowly watches him degenerate. There is no greater proof of a person's devotion or mettle than what she is doing for her husband. I am sure if Mr. Carson asked her if she was ok with people using curse words or whatever strangeness he expects Perfetto is tough enough to deal with it.
Posted Saturday December 13, 2008, About: Ex-players bar wives from Commissioner meeting
Carson is an idiot, so basically Wentzel's situation, and what his family goes through, is not discussed when talking about later-life care. And this is all so Caron can drop an F-bomb? Is Singletary going to be there dropping his pants?
Posted Sunday December 07, 2008, About: Two unknown teams bidding on Sabathia
This just in: The Washington Redskins and Dan Snyder have offered CC 145 million dollars to cross over to the NFL. They see him as a possible future Jared Lorenzen and have always felt comfortable trading 1st round draft picks for veteran players.
Posted Sunday December 07, 2008, About: Why Saints may dump Deuce
Every year there are good running backs picked in the third round or later in the draft for cheap money. Losing Deuce will not be that big of a deal for the Saints as they are looking to next year anyways at this point.
Posted Wednesday December 03, 2008, About: Mets to woo closers in Vegas
I wonder if the Mets could sign Fuentes and maybe Kerry Wood for the money it would take to get K-rod. I know Wood is injury prone but at least it would give you two good relievers that can help a bullpen in desperate need.
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Browns QB Anderson heard jeers after injury
HAHA I should have known someone would look up where Kozar comes from. I can definitely understand the frustrations that Brown fans have with their team. It's a good football town and it would nice if they could produce a winner. Still the cheering of Anderson's injury is ridiculous. Anderson was trying his tail off to win the games he played in. I am kind of surprised at the free pass other players on the Browns get. Braylon Edwards needs to trade in that 5 hour energy for some blinders so he doesn't recoil every time he thinks he is going to get hit. Edwards and Winslow's key drops have absolutely lost games for the Browns.
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Payton would like Boston reunion
I don't think the Red Sox would sign Payton. It is one thing to say you would be fine with being the 4th outfielder and actually doing it. He always struck me as a malcontent who was a couple bad at bats away from blowing a fuse.
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Browns QB Anderson heard jeers after injury
This is a bit of a tradition in Cleveland. Tim Couch received the same treatment after he went down with an injury. There are times that fans should lighten up. Neither Couch or Anderson woke up one morning and decided to take down the Browns organization from the inside. Besides, Couch brought Heather Kozar to Cleveland. That has to count for something...
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Cutler: My arm's stronger than Favre's
People seem really ready to rip on Cutler at a moments notice. I don't have a problem with what he said because he added the caveat about Favre being in his 20's. Does anyone thing Brett has the same arm he had when he was younger? I remember this conversation about who had the stronger arm Brett or Aaron Rodgers and Favre said that Rodgers might have it now but in typical rural ( I don't mean that in a negative way) fashion Favre said something along the lines of "he may have me now but I could sling it pretty good when I was younger." Some might disagree but I don't think this comment implies Cutler thinks he is better than Favre because arm strength doesn't translate to being a good quarterback see George, Jeff.
