Because it's not a FACT. It's an OPINION. If it was a FACT, we wouldn't even be able to argue it because there would be irrefutable proof. Of course you can say whatever you want but it still remains an OPINION. The world being round is a fact. The Steelers and Packers are playing in the Super Bowl is a fact. Saying one player is better than another is purely an opinion, especially when there are plenty of great arguments that you're wrong, whether you're willing to realize it or not. I'd take Roethlisberger over any other QB to play for the Steelers in their particular style of play. However, I could never say it is a fact that Peyton Manning wouldn't be as successful playing in Pittsburgh because there is no way to prove it.

I absolutely agree with that. I was a Steeler fan in the 80's and it absolutely sucked. I'm currently a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and I'd take a perennial playoff loser over that any day of the week. I think if the team gets further than you expect, it's a successful year. But if you think your team has a legitimate shot from the beginning it's disappointing. I think the Pats were 10 point underdogs to the Steelers in the AFC Championship the first year the Pats won the Super Bowl. That was probably the most disappointing game I've ever seen as a Steeler fan.

Yep, you're right. The Packers haven't had any running game this postseason. Starks only has 263 yards in 3 games. That's only about 88 yards per game. What was I thinking. You're right. 88 yards per game is terrible. I don't even know why they put a running back in the game.

That's funny you leave out Donald Driver and Greg Jennings. That's like me saying the Steelers defense isn't that good and start naming a bunch of second stringers.

I'm not blaming Rodgers for any loss. I think he's a great QB. My argument is that you can't put make statements like "it's a fact Rodgers is better than Ben". So why is Rodgers allowed to have a bad game because he played the Bears but Ben sucks because he didn't have a good game statistically against the Jets, who probably have the best cornerback tandem in the league with Revis and Cromartie. The Packers have the 2nd ranked defense in the league and probably the best receiving core in the league yet they barely even made the playoffs. I give him a lot of credit in these playoffs but you're crazy if you think Rodgers doesn't benefit from the team around him every bit as much as Ben does.

These are Ben's stats in the 3 playoff games leading to that Super Bowl that all the haters like to point out. Of course, as they remember it, that Super Bowl was the only playoff game he played in that year. I'm sure he didn't have any good moments in these performances either.

vs. Bengals 14-19 208 yards 3TDs 0 INTs 148.7 rating
vs. Colts 14-24 197 yards 2TDs 1 INT 95.3 rating
vs. Broncos 21-29 275 yards 2TDs 0 INTs 124.9 rating

Yep, the Super Bowl game winning drive and game winning TD pass with 35 seconds left couldn't be considered a defining moment. Or the game saving tackle against the heavily favored Colts en route to the first super bowl after Bettis fumbled. or going 21-29 for 275 yards, 3TD and 0 INT in the AFC Championship just to get to his first Super Bowl. or winning his first 15 games as a rookie QB, taking over a team that was 6-10 the previous season. None of those count because he played a bad game as a 23 year old second year QB. You don't seem like a tunnel visioned hater at all.

I agree and disagree. I grew up a Steelers fan and through the 90s and early 00s the Steelers had a lot of great teams in the regular season. Of course I enjoyed the entire season but it always felt like a disappointing season to me when they lost every year in the playoffs. They got to the AFC Championship 5 times under Cowher and lost 4 out of 5. Most of those games they were pretty heavy favorites too. That's why Steeler fans appreciate Roethlisberger so much. The only difference between those Steeler teams and the ones winning Super Bowls now is a QB that can actually make plays when he needs to. He's the first QB they've had like that since Bradshaw.

i meant 2 for Ben and 3 for Rodgers

He IS their offense? hahaha. yeah he has no help at all with one of (if not THE) best receiving cores in the entire NFL. Rodgers was 3rd in the NFL in QB rating and Roethlisberger was 5th. Wow, you're right. He really blew him out of the water. Rodgers had 722 more yards passing the Ben and Ben was suspended for 4 games, not to mention he doesn't have near the weapons outside that Rodgers has. Ben's TD-INT % was better. What the hell are you talking about. Just more blind Ben hating without anything substantial to really back it up.

I don't get it. This is a message board. I am typing. Not talking. I can breathe and type at the same time.

Really? How about when the Steelers won SB XLIII when the Steelers had the 27th ranked running game in the NFL and Roethlisberger won something like 5 games coming from behind in the 4th quarter that season. Oh wait. It was Roethlisberger though so either forget about that or come up with some lame BS to flip it around like "yeah but if he was good he wouldn't have to come from behind" You're talking about 2 games this postseason for Ben and 1 for Rodgers. That's ridiculous, especially considering the stat padding Rodgers was able to have playing in a dome against Atlanta while Ben was playing in Pittsburgh against the Jets and Ravens (2 of the best secondaries and defenses) in the league.

I'm bored and it's rainy and cold here so I'm spending my day all over these TDs defending Ben Roethlisberger. I'm not sure what right meant by "I don't see Ben having a career defining moment in this game" but I hope he doesn't mean that he hasn't had one yet. He has had more career defining moments in his 7 seasons than most players have in their careers. People that don't like them just conveniently forget about all of them.

Also, aren't the Packers the number 2 defense in the league this season? It's not like Aaron Rodgers has had to put up 35 points to win games this season. The defense wins the games argument works as well for Rodgers as it does for Ben.

and nothing. My point is that Rodgers has NEVER yet led his team to a great regular season or a great Super Bowl run. There is no possible way you can prove his consistency. I'm not saying he never will, but you can't crown him as some elite QB until he does something more than lead his team to a number 6 seed or play a great divisional playoff game. The Steelers have been to the AFC Championship game 4 times in Ben's 7 Seasons, winning 3 of them.

I'm not saying anyone on this TD but I've seen many haters point out that the Steelers were 3-1 this season without Roethlisberger. Well, didn't the Packers almost beat the Patriots (when they were the hottest team in the NFL) with Matt Flynn? As I recall, Matt Flynn looked like Aaron Rodgers back there for much of the game until a bone head ending to the game. You can't put such a small sample up against proven success over a long period of time. If Rodgers doesn't play a good Super Bowl then all of the sudden many could easily look at him as a choker in big games. Think about it. If he plays like he did in the NFC Championship he could end up with 0 TDs and 4 INTs combined in the 2 biggest games of the season. Let him play the game before you crown him as a great big game QB.

Really, isn't this comment a contradiction. You're calling me a Steelers "homer", yet you're a Packer fan claiming Rodgers is the best. How is that not being a "homer". At this point Roethlisberger has proven time and time again that he is a great QB, even though haters refuse to notice it. He is 11-2 in his playoff career. Of all those wins he's have very solid to excellent stats in probably 8 of those wins. I guarantee if I do some digging I can find 3 playoff games where Brady's stats weren't very good. I can probably find 8-10 games where Mannings stats weren't very good. It's all blind hatred and people just like to say "the stats prove he's not that good" when it's actually the exact opposite.

The very comment that you copied shows some VERY SOLID stats that Ben put up in big games. Yes, the playoff games leading up to the super bowl are also big. You should know that more than anyone since the guy you are supporting doesn't have anything to judge yet besides those games. I'm not saying Rodgers isn't a great QB but you're judging him based on TWO great playoff performances. He had never even won a playoff game yet before this season. Aaron Rodgers has probably the best receiving core in the entire NFL. The Packers are the 6 seed in the NFC this season. Aaron Rodgers is a very good QB but before that Falcons game, he hadn't really done anything to warrant the "elite status" that everyone is giving him based on one game. The game after that he had a terrible game (statistically) but conveniently everyone forgets that one week later, yet I'm sure you haven't forgotten Ben's SB XL performance SIX YEARS AGO.

I guess not. I haven't been on this site in a while until recently. I suppose there are haters for everybody.

I haven't been on this site much recently so I'll take your word for it. The sad fact is that most people are losers so there is always a lot of hatred for winners. It's the same in every sport and every aspect of life. It is the reason why many poor people hate rich people and employees hate bosses. If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then hatred comes a close second.

I could be mistaken, but I don't recall ever hearing anybody (after Elway's retirement) claiming that Elway doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, let alone not even being a good QB. I see ludacris statements on this site claiming that Roethlisberger isn't even a GOOD QB constantly. I can't imagine how little someone must know about football to actually think Roethlisberger hasn't been a HUGE part of the Steelers success since he's been there. I grew up a Steeler fan and went through the 90's and early 00's watching MANY great Steeler defenses and running games and "coincidentally" none of them could win a Super Bowl until Ben came. If any of these Ben haters knew what they were talking about, then Kordell Stewart, Neil O'Donnell and even Bubby Brister would all be Super Bowl winners.
