This 'percentage of events' argument made by left is completely illogical. First of all, his own argument defeats itself: Phelps won 47.06% of the events of his time, Spitz won 46.67%. Secondly, the entire argument is incredibly irrelevant. It does not matter how many events were offered, Phelps still had to be the a master at eight, while Spitz had to be a master at seven. Phelps had to be the best in the world at eight; Spitz had to be the best in the world at seven. I would grant you this percentage of events argument if there were hundreds of different events offered to Phelps and he could pick and choose which ones he was good at, but the fact is there are only two more events offered, and Phelps and Spitz still had six common events.

PS can anyone tell me if Phelps even swims one of the events which have been added in the meantime? If he doesn't, this argument must be thrown out; and even if he does, it is still an extremely tenuous, beatable one.
