FIU will rue the day they hired Isiah Thomas. He hasn't done ANYTHING worthwhile as a basketball executive or coach (see CBA, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks). He's self-serving (notice how he threw his kid under the bus for his own failing in NYC or his coach in front of boosters back when he was at Indiana) and a cancer. He was a heckuva player, but that's the distant past.

I think FIU has hurt their program long term...

Moving the draft from city to city is an unnecessary gimmick. The NFL Draft is already hugely popular. IF they decide to move it around, then they should follow the NHL model and hold it in cities where there's a franchise.

The SEC did the right thing. There's no way they could've picked who gets into the games and who doesn't. Limiting it to the bands, cheerleaders, press, friends and family is about as fair as could be expected under the circumstances.

I am surprised that they couldn't move the game to Philips Arena (which is next door to the Georgia Dome) or to the Gwinnett Arena (about 35 minutes NE of downtown), both of which are larger than Alexander Memorial Coliseum. I guess the schedules of those alternatives made it impossible...

It's not happening. No sane coach would touch the Atlanta job until a GM is in place and the ground rules are set up. (Preferably, the football folks make the decisions, Arthur Blank signs the checks). Right now, I think (as a fan) Arthur is WAY too involved in football decisions that he hired McKay & others to make...
