Posted Thursday September 11, 2008, About: Astros veterans draw interest
Hmm...I never knew Brad wanted to be a Red Sox...I thought he's said that he'd only play for the Astros or Pads or a team on the WEST coast... Oh. Wait. This was reported by the BOSTON Globe. That explains it. Apparently, in Boston they think EVERYONE wants to play for the Red Sox...

Trade interest? Think they'll take M-Lo for Luke Scott? Please? Pretty please!? LOVE M-Lo, but Luke's my boy. :(
Posted Thursday October 18, 2007, About: Manny on ALCS: 'Who cares?'
Not a Red Sox fan. Not a Manny fan. But as a baseball fan, I say shame on him. The fans care Manny--especially YOUR team's fans! He definitely cares, he's just admitting defeat. Boston fans have more faith in their team than he does! What a bum. No worries. It's Tribe vs. Rox in the WS anyway... He could still show a little heart...
Posted Friday September 28, 2007, About: Astros put off managerial decision
Drayton lied. As of Friday, Coop is officially manager of the Houston Astros.
Posted Thursday September 20, 2007, About: Astros nearing new GM hire
Well, BobD, astros.com reporter Alyson Footer is reporting that it IS going to be Wade and a press conference is scheduled for the announcement at 3pm CT. If he is as you say, I guess Astros fans can put off World Series hopes for another 2 years...cuz that's how long Drayton likes to keep the duds around.
Posted Tuesday September 11, 2007, About: Astros veteran seeks return
I believe Ausmus has said numerous times this season that if he comes back, he wants to be back-up catcher. Which likely means he will be Oswalt's catcher and come in late in games to catch more "wild" relievers like Lidge. They'll also probably be paying him for double duties--2nd Catcher and 2nd Bench Coach.
Posted Tuesday August 28, 2007, About: Astros fire Garner, Purpura
Bags is way too soft-spoken to coach at the managerial level. I think Ausmus would make an excellent bench coach, and possibly a future manager. He's one of the best game-callers there is. I'd love to see the Astros take him on as a coach when he retires--if he wants to stay in Texas.
Posted Tuesday August 28, 2007, About: Mavs owner to Dance With Stars
Seriously? How can they legitimately call it "Dancing with the Stars" anymore? I bet more than half of the people who actually watch that show don't even know who Mark Cuban is!
Posted Monday August 27, 2007, About: Astros fire Garner, Purpura
About damn time. Though, we all know that Phil only got fired due to Purpura's inadequacies as GM. But I've been wanting to see Coop take a shot at the managerial thing for a loooong time now. I really liked his attitude at the press conference and I hope it makes for a good remaining 31 games...and a great 2008 season & then some.
Posted Wednesday August 22, 2007, About: Astros ace may miss start
According to our very knowledgeable TV broadcasters, as of now, Roy 's start is just being "pushed back" a couple days, with Gutierrez starting in his place Thursday. And Roy's career is not over until he says it is. He's still got a lot of game in him. And of course Roy would be welcomed to the Reds with open arms. The Reds BOW DOWN to Roy...
Posted Saturday August 11, 2007, About: Astros to sacrifice Lamb?
First of all, what a terrible, terrible headline...

I just don't see Lance as a full-time outfielder anymore. After his whole knee thing, despite what Garner thinks/says, Berkman is not a "defensive upgrade" of Luke Scott. I love love love the Lee/Pence/Scott OF combination. Lamb is a HUGE part of this Astros offense, and he's proven he's great off the bench and even better when he starts. Mike has said that though he loves the Astros, he'd like to get some regular playing time, either in Houston or elsewhere.

It's hard to believe that this Astros offense is having trouble finding room in the lineup regularly for one of their best, most "clutch" hitters... I say, start playing the hot bat at 3B. When one cools off, go with the other guy.
Posted Friday August 10, 2007, About: Astros center field shopping list
As long as Pence gets to play, I don't think he really cares where he plays. I like the OF combination of Lee/Pence/Scott. Offensively & defensively. Luke is underrated in RF, Carlos' bat makes up for his sometimes-lacking defense, and Pence is quickly learning CF, and, like Carlos, makes up for his "misjudgments" with his bat...

Save money for pitching!!!
Posted Thursday August 09, 2007, About: Astros center field shopping list
I'm confused. I thought Hunter Pence was our center field... and Carlos Lee is holding down the fort in LF for the next half-decade... and Luke Scott is a very adequate right fielder, offensively and defensively, not to mention, his "back-up", Berkman.

WE NEED PITCHING, people...pronto!!!
Posted Saturday August 04, 2007, About: Franco to accept minor-league stint
I don't know which is more pathetic, Franco for thinking he still got game, or the Braves for making him think he still got game by not releasing him...
Posted Saturday July 28, 2007, About: Cubs get in line for D-Ray
This goes to show just how off these rumors can be. The Astros ended up with the guy... Did those other teams seriously have nothing better than a Dan Wheeler to offer?
Posted Saturday July 28, 2007, About: Bonds: A-Rod's not as good as me
Wow. The 'roids even made his HEAD big!!!
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Scouts flock to Astros' yard
Please, somebody, take Dan "Loose Wheels" Wheeler off the Astros' hands, please!! If we can get a couple of young, promising pitchers for him, I'm all for that trade. That's probably one of the few I'd be grateful to see. As for Qualls...with the second lowest ERA on the pitching staff, and among the 5 lowest on the staff all season, I wouldn't mind them keeping him. They can talk Lidge all day.**** would be an idiot to trade Lidge for a couple of prospects...please don't try the Billy Wagner thing again. This time, you have no back-up plan. I can see the value in Lamb & Loretta, but they're the "Lethal L's" over here (along with Lee). If the 'Stros get rid of them, they better get a BIG bat or two in return!
Posted Saturday July 21, 2007, About: Lidge, Garner, GM to remain Astros
Gar's and Purp's jobs may be safe for now, and I know they're signed through next year, but come October, Drayton should be thinking long and hard about reneging on those deals...and if not, he needs to at least start seriously looking for their 2009 replacements. Sometimes teams just out-grow GMs and managers...
As for Lidge, he's showing MAJOR improvement. Considering the trades****'s made in the recent past, I'd say we're probably better off keeping Lidge than "trying out" another one of the GM's "ingenious" trade products.
Posted Thursday July 12, 2007, About: Astros poised to trade pitchers?
Luke Astro - What are you an Astros troll? You obviously know little to nothing about the Astros, much less baseball. And what's with the 6 consecutive posts? Are you arguing with yourself?
Posted Thursday July 12, 2007, About: Astros poised to trade pitchers?
I'm not sure where Ortiz is getting this crap. He must have some personal vendetta against one of the nicest guys in the game (Oswalt)... Once again, this is Ortiz "reporting" the not-so-inevitable trade rumors so he can be the only one to say "I told you so" when pigs fly over a blue moon...
Posted Thursday July 12, 2007, About: La Russa's snub irks Pujols
LaRussa sure as heII didn't get all those wins by sitting out guys like Albert Pujols in clutch situations. The AL is no more "beastly" than the NL...consistently close All-Star games prove that it comes down to which manager is better at his job... Unfortunately, the NL has more inadequate managers than the AL.
