here is my logic, sure a pitcher only plays once every 5th game, but a hitter only gets to hit every 9 guys. The game a pitcher is in he has the most direct impact on a win or loss, and Verlander WAS the tigers this year
you can't hold the fact that Newton takes pretty much all of the runs and passes now against Stewart and Williams... I credit bad play calling, and Newton wanting to pad his stats... also probably why they are no better with Newton than they were with Claussen or whomever else they put back there.
DeAngelo Williams Career numbers 916 Carries 4,574 Yards 5.0 per carry 32 TD's
Considering that he has only really been a starter for two full seasons... I'd consider those numbers to be pretty amazing.
Jonathan Stewart 654 Carries 3,066 yards 4.7 YPC 24 TD's Again, considering that he has been in a two back system his career, those are impressive as well... Any time you have two RB's that can get 5 yards per carry pretty much their entire career... you have two amazing RBs...
Even compare that to Matt Forte, who considered a top RB in the NFL right now 935 Carries 3,908 yards 4.2 ypc 20 TD's
College football became a joke when the NCAA cleared Cam Newton and Auburn... or was it when 5 starting QB's in the SEC in 2010 had multiple arrests yet zero suspensions.... or was it when the NCAA claimed to be a "non-profit organization" yet they bank HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars a year... or was it when they started selling jerseys of kids that they have work for free?.... I will say that this conference shake up every week doesn't help... but the NCAA has been a joke WAY before that.
He will be playing in the NFL, likely starting somewhere... The guy is 2-3 as a starter... he has 9 TD's to 4 Int, averages 5.6 yards per carry when he runs, and has 7 rushing TD's... He has had 7 turnovers to 16 TD's... find another QB with 5 career starts and those numbers. People thought Manning's footwork was no good, Rodgers and Rivers "didn't have an NFL throwing motion"...
The numbers don't lie, and Tebow has ZERO talent around him. It cracks me up b/c the same people that hate on Tebow LOVE Cam Newton, who has inferior stats and is all flash ZERO substance... and Newton has an amazing rushing attack, two great TE's, and a pro bowl #1 to throw to.
so you "think" they can beat a non-ranked team, because that non-ranked team's QB is hurt... UGA is not a power football team.. they were good a few decades ago, and had a run with Stafford... but they are a mid to low level BCS school
Exactly, when you play in a BCS conference you face on average about 8-10 future NFL players in any game, even against someone like Purdue. This leads to guys getting banged up, and your team can't coast really ever.
Boise won't play 8-10 future NFL players ALL SEASON! They can rest guys late in games, and the hits coming aren't NEARLY as hard. Plus they don't have to worry that SD State will sneak up on them
They beat Oregon a year before their national title run.
Boise has shown that they can play ONE game here and there. Not "time and time again". They have two signature wins, both were with a majority of guys that are no longer with the team.
If they honestly thought they could play with the "big boys" they would have taken Nebraska's offer to play them... or they would have scheduled schools like USC or Ohio State who rarely back down to one-and-ones.... but instead they play Fresno, and Toledo...
If Georgia is in ANY other conference they are nowhere NEAR the top 25. They get thrown into a ranking after a 6-7 season, lose to back to back opponents, then beat up on Vandy, Ten, Coastal Carolina, Ole miss (0 SEC wins), and Miss State (0 SEC wins), and they are back in the top 25...
Didn't qualify for a bowl last year, and their ONLY win this season vs a team over .500 was against 4-3 "powerhouse" Vandy.... Yeah, I'd give them bottom feeder status. Do you honestly thing they would give LSU or Alabama a game?
Here lies the BIGGEST issue with the BCS. Beating a cupcake keeps you alive while losing to a contender knocks you out.
Why should Alabama fall behind Boise if they lost an OT game to LSU, when Boise at the same time beats Wyoming. Does being Wyoming take more effort than taking LSU to OT? Hardly!
This leads to poor non-conference scheduling. Boise doesn't play against teams like Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, or Alabama because they don't have to! Play one of those and lose your season is over, play Fresno and win big you hype lives on, as does that big BCS pay day.
Where is that logic? Just b/c they got one win against a bottom feeder SEC team they could beat the best teams?
The thing is, it is EASY to get up for one game a season. Week in and week out teams like LSU face injury, fatigue (and in many SEC school's Arrests) they have the best athletes in the NCAA hitting them week after week. Don't compare one win to that. Boise is a complete JOKE! They beat a 3-4 Air Force team by 11...
And how is the left leading with the "logical argument" of "Boise would beat Oklahoma"???? Seriously? So you can just say it and it is true? I say a pee wee team would beat Boise... must be true then?
True, but there are CLEARLY holes outside of QB. Why use your top pick on a position that is already set with 15 or so holes that need to be addressed? No matter how much that cost has gone down it is still a TON of money that would limit free agent signings as well. Smart move would be to trade back in the draft
Don't know it this was mentioned, but drafting Luck seems good on paper, but paying a top pick and Manning at the same time would wrap the majority of your team finances into one position.... that may not be the best idea unless you KNOW Manning is done.
Find something more useful for Jim Tressel... he is the winningest coach in Big 10 history and has more BCS victories in NCAA history... yet his job is to "evaluate replays"? Seems like there should be something more productive...

They could have made a move to the Pac-12 or Big-12, but they know they would fall to the middle of the pack and lose that BCS money.
Even LSU who plays a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH harder conference schedule took on Oregon AND West Virginia in their out of conference games.
As for UGA, they have been bad since the 80's... how could they not know that?
No matter how much that cost has gone down it is still a TON of money that would limit free agent signings as well.
