Posted Thursday July 17, 2008, About: Daly warns Harmon to stay away
"Has Daly wasted a lot of his talent? Yep, but that is his choice to do so."

Yep, just as much as it is the PGA's choice to stop giving exemptions to Daly and make him actually earn the freebie spots he gets on the tour. He's just lucky the PGA hasn't made flipping burgers his choice to do so.
Posted Friday July 04, 2008, About: Favre interested in Panthers?
That makes sense. He wants to retire from the same team that his son, Vinnie Testaverde, did.
Posted Monday May 12, 2008, About: Manny: I'm best Boston leftfielder ever
Yep....best outfielder with a backstop in the MLB...

rhymeister- how 'bout the Big Ten-ish?
Posted Tuesday April 29, 2008, About: Will Irish join football conference?
This rumor of ND joining the Big Ten has been floating around since I was in school, way back when. Good to see it passed on to another generation.

"Sounds like all you do IS play in a softball league with a bunch of fat beer drinkers that could never make in on a real baseball field."

Oooooh, Tribe, thou dost wound me. S'alright, it's not easy to catch oneself twisting in the breeze on a silly argument.

This wasn't about coming in cleats-up, which is dirty pool. Won't argue with that. But this whole time you've been preaching from your magical Unwritten Rule Book about rights-to-base paths, and that's what this is about. So say what you want, ham-and-egger; doubt I've seen you playing baseball beyond Hog's Knuckle High School.
Posted Thursday March 13, 2008, About: Yankees-Rays feud boils over
"Think about it."

Tribe, I think YOU need to stop digging this hole and start thinking. First it's unwritten, now it's in the rule book. But you're going to refer to the rule book but refuse to cite the passage? Sure, whatever you say.

"Once you are out in a DP situation you no longer have rights to the basepath."

LOL!!! And where exactly does your magical unwritten rule book say that the runner is supposed to GO once he's "lost the right" to the base path?!? Straight up? If a base runner takes a step to the left or right in a DP sitch, he may get called for interference, or take a ball to the face. That's why you often see these guys taking slides, even though they're long-gone out; they have nowhere else to go. I ask again, have you ever even played a single inning of baseball or softball?

Any more "unwritten" rules you'd like to enforce?

"When a middle infielder takes a double play the runner, once he knows he's out, is supposed to give way for the play to continue."

Have you actually ever PLAYED baseball, or even beer league softball?!? That's the dumbest thing I've read in a long time. No player is EVER required or even "supposed" to yield to the defense. With that logic, then there would never be any reason for running over the catcher, now would there?
Posted Friday February 29, 2008, About: Isiah bans Marbury from Garden
Civil rights, my foot. The Garden's private property; anybody can be banned at any time.
Posted Sunday December 16, 2007, About: Schilling didn't talk to Mitchell
No fan of Schilling, but he's being smart and keeping his piehole shut for a change. He's likely under advice of counsel to keep a low profile...which doesn't mean that he's using or has used, it just means he could set himself up for libel or slander if he names names without anything but anecdotal proof.
Posted Friday November 09, 2007, About: Mornhinweg disputes McNabb's claim
Mcnabb's running out of excuses. He shows his weakness when he's forced to make snap decisions and has to adapt quickly....but boy, he's sure quick with the blame on someone else.
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: A-Rod hopes Yankees reconsider
Maybe a year off, cooling his heels and thinking about how easy it is to shell a career, is in order.
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: A-Rod hopes Yankees reconsider
BNCEO- I honestly can't see how A-Rod can come back to the Bronx after this, can you?
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: A-Rod hopes Yankees reconsider
Yes, please reconsider...after I blew smoke all year about staying right where I am, then my agent drops a nugget during the WS that I'ma free agent. No matter than I'm the highest-piad player in the MLB, and that I can't hit a ball in October if you had a gun to my head. Please, Yankees, TAKE ME BACK...er, I mean, reconsider.

Pound sand, A-Rod. Burger King is hiring.
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: Panthers' Smith chastises rookie
Heartbreak; Hall got HIMSELF ejected. A real man and a team player takes responsibilty for his actions and doesn't blame someone else. Hall might do well to learn that.

THIS is why Steve Smith is invaluable to the Panthers. Call out the rook, in front of cameras if need be, especially if he's whining about his rookie season to the media. Get your act togther, kid....it's a cut-throat league and you may not get another warning.
Posted Thursday October 25, 2007, About: Credibility problems for Torre
"Now, whether that is fair or realistic is not up to me to decide"

Neither is it fair or realistic for you to judge Joe Torre based on any absurd criteria you might dream up.
Posted Thursday October 25, 2007, About: Yankees to spend big on Posada
"why did Jorge wait so long to have his "monster" year?"

Yeah, he waited. Been sandbagging all these years. What's it like to work at NASA?
Posted Thursday October 25, 2007, About: Yankees to spend big on Posada
"Offering $40 million to an over the hill catcher."

That over-the-hill catcher led the Yankees most of the year in hitting, smart guy.
Posted Thursday October 25, 2007, About: Credibility problems for Torre
"In the real working world, if you don't perform you should expect your salary to represnt that. If I knew what my expecations were, and I didn't meet them 4 years in a row, then there's a problem."

He's been to the playoffs every single year he's been with the organization. Yanks finished first in the AL East all but two of those 12 years. Maybe in videogames that's not remarkable, but Joe Torre has gone above and beyond reasonable expectations. Reasonable, that is, outside of the mind of Darth Steinbrenner and other folks who don't know what they're talking about.
Posted Wednesday October 24, 2007, About: A-Rod-to-Red Sox scenario
You betcha, BoSox...go ahead and pay wicked millions for a touchy, streaky, self-indulgent, error-prone overpaid infielder who can't hit a ball in October. It's a wicked smart move.
