They might get along for a while but sooner or later I think Avery will start trying to once again take things too far. The interesting thing to see will be what Torts does once Avery does that.

If boston makes any trades it should be little moves to shore up depth. Their current slide aside they seem to have good chemistry as a team and you don't want to mess with that. Also more often than not it is the little trades for that grinder or shot-blocking dman that help you win a cup.

Bad idea. Antropov's natural position is as a center, the pens already have too many of those. Antropov is just being hyped up by the media, and the leafs, in an attempt to try and sucker some team into getting him. He's a fringe 2nd - 3rd liner.

Assuming that his stats aren't the result of the defensive style played in front of him, and I don't think they are, that would make the Flyer's even tougher to play against. Goaltending is really the only weakness they have.

On a side note given how poorly Fleury's been playing I wouldn't mind seeing them take a shot at Backstrom, as either an insurance policy or to try and light a fire under fleury.

Trading for an injury-prone, inconsistent goalie who hasn't developed into the goalie he could have been to replace an inconsistent goalie who hasn't developed into the goalie he could have been. Not sure if I like a deal that if I'm a Flyer's fan.

Of course it might be that Lehtonen just needs an actual team in front of him. But he always seems to get injured. He's the Marion Gaborik of goalies.

As long as Florida is within 4 points of a playoff spot I doubt they trade him. Best case scenario for them may be to keep him, hope they make some playoff noise and then if they can't resign him, ship him out to another team as part of a trade-n-sign while they still have his rights.

Straight up for Kovalev...not a good move I think. Ignoring salary Kovalev only has a couple of years left in him. Staal has his whole career still. The Pens rushed him into the league right after drafting him and you can tell it's hurt his game a bit. I still think that given time Staal will be worth the money they are going to pay him.

Trying to move Kaberle, Kubina, and Antropov is a given but what about Toskala? If youth and a Top 5 pick is the point of a roster blowup why not ship out the goalie? Come trade deadline I'd bet there would be more than a few teams looking to improve their goaltending depth.

He needs the extra muscle so all those shots he's going to get peppered by on a nightly basis don't hurt as much. He still has what amounts to a piece of swiss cheese in front of him for defense.

A good point. They played a Washington team that really wasn't ready for the spotlight and a Montreal team that played very soft and was starting a young goalie who still needs some more time to mature.

Also I'm still not sold on Biron as a "cup-winning" goalie. I can't see him carrying a team by himself.
