I'm confused why the Yankees would want him back???? Seems like a nice opportunity to rid themselves of an overpaid prima donna, 1 down, 23 to go.

Has EA ever been outdone before? They will have the best game on the market sooner or later.

This is a no brainer. Retire the guys the number. He was the face of the franchise for 8 seasons. Lead them to the playoffs three times and provided us Met fans with some of the most memorable franchise moments in history.

The problem with having Obama as coach is that he would expect the Lakers to "spread the wins around" the league. Look for Kobe to play 48 minutes a game with Obama asking him take shot clock violations down the stretch so the opposition has the ability to win the game. Socialism in the NBA, its fantastic!

You're just bitter because when LA was at its best this decade you couldn't touch them.

hahahha--nobody in the NBA plays defense

All kidding aside, Trevor is a TERRIFIC role player. He does not create his own shot however. All his points come in transition and spot up wide open three's. I love Trevor and don't think LA would have won without his contributions, but Artest is a better player in 2009 & 2010, after that who knows, but if we are going for a 4-peat at that point, who will even care?

I think part of the reason they signed Artest instead of Ariza is because of how Ariza's agent handled the negotiations. LA needed to sign one of the two, more than Odom in my eyes. Once LA realized Ariza was going to give them a hard time they had to strike. Also, if LA was to only sign one of the three (Ariza, Odom or Artest), Artest was the most important piece. His ability to defend Carmelo & Lebron will be huge next postseason.

The fact that Ariza went to Houston instead of Cleveland should tell you his head is more into the nightlife than championships.

The fact that he won an MVP, Finals MVP and Championship Ring "not in his prime" should tell you something.....

Dr. Buss and PJ have a plan for a successor. My hunch is that its probably Shaw. If Buss felt Rambis was the guy, Rambis would still be in LA. Fisher will become an assistant coach in a year or two as well. With Bryant around I can only see four candidates, in this order;

1. Shaw
2. Bryon Scott, Kobe and Scott have a mutual respect that dates back to Bryant's rookie season
3. Rambis, don't be surprised if he has an escape clause that would allow him to leave Minny and coach in LA
4. Fisher, he is a longshot, but he has Bryant's respect

Outside of Coach K, who will never leave Duke, these are the only guys I know of that Kobe will sign off on, and your kidding yourself if you don't think he will have a huge say in who gets the job.

In all likelhood its Shaws job to lose. He is young and has spent several years with Jackson as a player or coach.

JVG hates Bryant and could never coach him.

They chose Artest over Ariza, plan and simple.
Posted Sunday August 02, 2009, About: Rambis to be named T-Wolves coach?
He must not be a lock to replace Phil, otherwise why on earth would he do this? He has been a part of this franchise for 20+ years. This move would really surprise me.
Posted Saturday August 01, 2009, About: White: Fedor's insane to turn down deal
First let me say that I am not a UFC or MMA fan and don't know much about what is going on here---however---the key to promoting any sport is to promote the sport itself, not the individual athletes. A classic example is the NFL. Who is the face of the league? I could give you ten different guys, but in the end none of them are bigger than the league, and none of them get special treatment. Now see the NBA, which promotes its stars and gives special treatment--when Jordan retired the league died until the Shaq/Kobe feud--then went dead when the fans got tired of it--fortunately the Lakers/Celtics finals last year brought back some interest and now Kobe and Lebron will carry it for the next 5 years. The NFL never dies because of the way it promotes. My point here is that this Fedor guy is only one man and could generate one large PPV against Lesner. That has short term benefits for White and UFC but big long term problems if it helps put Fedor's rival company on the map and make it competitive with UFC. White would be nuts to do so. One fight is not worth risking the Company's future. If anything he should try and buy Fedor's company and expand UFC.
Posted Friday July 31, 2009, About: Odom returning to Lakers
There will be no change at PG this season. Shannon Brown is the PG of the future.
Posted Sunday July 19, 2009, About: Artest reaches out to Odom
Where do you get your information? Let me guess, the same website's that say 9/11 was an inside job.

Even if Odom does sign with Miami the team is too soft to deal with Boston, Orlando and the Cavs.

Trade Mo Williams & Wallace for Amare--throw in some first round picks if necessary----

The sign AI to replace Williams.

Best part about that deal, they still wouldn't be able to beat LA!

Kobe will finish as the #2 player of all-time, behind Mike. Heck, he is probably already there.

I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back next year but misses more regular season road trips. This will begin the head coaching transition to Rambis.

Gasol is easily more valuable than Shaq, and yes he plays mostly center for the CHAMPS.
Posted Thursday June 18, 2009, About: Pistons eyeing Ariza?
They were both equally important during the 2009 playoff run, however going forward the Lakers are expecting Bynum to play a much bigger role than he did during this postseason. He needs the offseason to get fully recovered from this seasons knee injury. He had just started to get back into form in January when he went down again. Trust me, the kid can play. He did look terrible in these playoffs, but he was rushed back from his injury because of last years finals.

Ariza allows Kobe the freedom of not having to guard the oppositions best player, which is why they would keep him should they have to choose.

I see them keeping both though, Dr. Buss will step up.

Portland is going to give LA all kinds of fits over the next few years. They are loaded with talented young players. Oden NOT being one of them. Imagine if they had Durant? OMG.

What was a worse pick Oden or Darko? At this point it has to be Darko, but this will be an interesting question in 5 years.
