All kidding aside, Trevor is a TERRIFIC role player. He does not create his own shot however. All his points come in transition and spot up wide open three's. I love Trevor and don't think LA would have won without his contributions, but Artest is a better player in 2009 & 2010, after that who knows, but if we are going for a 4-peat at that point, who will even care?
I think part of the reason they signed Artest instead of Ariza is because of how Ariza's agent handled the negotiations. LA needed to sign one of the two, more than Odom in my eyes. Once LA realized Ariza was going to give them a hard time they had to strike. Also, if LA was to only sign one of the three (Ariza, Odom or Artest), Artest was the most important piece. His ability to defend Carmelo & Lebron will be huge next postseason.
The fact that Ariza went to Houston instead of Cleveland should tell you his head is more into the nightlife than championships.
1. Shaw
2. Bryon Scott, Kobe and Scott have a mutual respect that dates back to Bryant's rookie season
3. Rambis, don't be surprised if he has an escape clause that would allow him to leave Minny and coach in LA
4. Fisher, he is a longshot, but he has Bryant's respect
Outside of Coach K, who will never leave Duke, these are the only guys I know of that Kobe will sign off on, and your kidding yourself if you don't think he will have a huge say in who gets the job.
In all likelhood its Shaws job to lose. He is young and has spent several years with Jackson as a player or coach.
JVG hates Bryant and could never coach him.
Even if Odom does sign with Miami the team is too soft to deal with Boston, Orlando and the Cavs.
The sign AI to replace Williams.
Best part about that deal, they still wouldn't be able to beat LA!
Ariza allows Kobe the freedom of not having to guard the oppositions best player, which is why they would keep him should they have to choose.
I see them keeping both though, Dr. Buss will step up.
What was a worse pick Oden or Darko? At this point it has to be Darko, but this will be an interesting question in 5 years.
