Hi Packersgal, the Packers off season needs also include attention to the offensive line, Rodgers was sacked over 50 times last season and without better protection his ability to make it through an entire season will be in question. Ted Thompson should consider drafting a true center. Dietrich-Smith is ok as a back up but nothing more, IMO. On defense, I am anxious to see how Desmond Bishop will rebound from injury. His presence was missed and with Hawk likely a cap casualty (among other things) and Woodson being released the Packers will need his run stopping ability in the middle. He led the team in tackles 2 years ago.
The Lombardi teams of the 60's were better, no question. Mike McCarthy is building something in Green Bay though. He is on the cusp of producing a dynasty. In today's terms that would be 3 SB's over a short period of time. I think it is very hard to compare teams of today and teams of the past, The game has changed too much. I would prefer to say that if the Packers win the SB again this season and let's say another one 2 seasons from now, then they could be called the best Packer team of this era.
No way Green Bay goes undefeated if they continue with the poor defensive effort they showed in San Diego. Ponder, Manning Freeman, Cutler and Stafford will all have very good games if this continues.
According to NFL stats the Bears defense is dead last in the NFC, 31st in the entire NFL. the Lions are 3rd in the NFC. The Bears rankings don't make them the superior defense in the NFC North.
The Lions appear to be making the most of their opportunities late in the game, this is the sign of a team that's finding ways to win, the sign of a winning organization. I think their year is next year and I'm sure the Lions will have more trouble winning games this way as teams collect more and more film on them. If the Bears keep their mistakes to a minimum when they play the Lions, along with the Packers on Thanksgiving Day, then I see victories for both the Bears and Packers.
The Lions have shown some spunk, with two come from behind victories, granted the Cowboys made some awful mistakes, but my hats off to the Lions, what a season so far. I don't want to throw a bucket of ice water on the fire but I think the Broncos were 6 and 0 a few years back and wound up with a losing record. Still, I would like to see a Thanksgiving day game that meant something. If the Lions and Packers keep on track it could be one heck of a game!!
First of all, MM shove it up your A/s/s. I have no idea why you say that and frankly I could care less. I posted a comment here about football and you make this comment. grow up, if you can.
Love it hate it. The Jets did have trouble with Dallas but they were down 2 td's in the fourth and won it. That tells me they know how to win games.
The Bears looked good against the Falcons, I didn't expect anything less. Playing the Saints this week may be a little tougher. The Saints will not want to start the season 0 and 2.
I expect the Packers to win by a touchdown, the Saints have problems on their defensive line and Rodgers will have time to throw, plus the game is in Green Bay, if it were in New Orleans then I would say the Saints win by three. I think the Bears will win also but I have a feeling it will be a higher scoring game, 30 to 27 Bears. Lions should win, that game may be 10 to 9. Chargers over the Vikes. 28 to 14.
Sorry, he just comes across as a little eccentric. The Jets are a very good football team and Ryan is showing the league how to build a strong football team in a short period of time. I do respect Ryan professionally, don't get me wrong.
Thanks, all these assumptions are based on last season's performances and we all know how that can change but I do feel that the race in the North division will come down to the Bears and Packers. The Xmas day game against the Bears in Green Bay could win the division.
The Lions will definitely improve but it's not their year yet, they may go 8 and 8. It's a toss up between the Bears and Packers for the division, they may even tie at 11 and 5. I think the Vikings may make some noise, can't forget about them, they do have a decent amount of talent on that team, maybe 10 and 6 for them if they win some close ones. The west is anybody's division, I'm leaning towards Arizona to spring back to life and I would like to see the Rams step up. The South is a tough division, the Saints, Falcons and Tampa Bay may all make the playoffs and then you have the Eagles in the East as the dream team. They have a lot to live up to, lots of pressure on that team to come out of the gate strong. 5 and 0 to start. Dallas could surprise. Redskins need another two years, the Giants could take the division if they can stop turning the ball over.
