Sure, Spain is the better team, but the best teams don't always win. It will take some luck for sure, but playing/hoping for penalties is pathetic. If the US players come out w/ that attitude, the game is over before it starts. Soccer is about scoring goals, not being a scared b!%@#.
Could end up being 1st choice for Senegal as I've never been impressed w/ the aging Tony Sylva.
I don't even think it was that badly mis-hit, it looks like he was trying hit someone making a far post run, it just floated too much, didn't curl enough, and ended up inside the far post instead of just outside it.

that makes a little more sense.
As for Berhalter, he got caught badly out of position of that play that red carded on, a player with decent speed would have been able to recover. If he continues to position himself so poorly(which I considered one of his strengths), he is done. There are room for slow defenders(see Costacurta in his later playing days), but not ones that can't properly position themselves to make up for their lack of pace.
US has a great chance to get a world cup if S. Africa or Brazil can't get their business in order in time.
BYU's soccer team actually 'quit' the NCAA and they now play in the PDL. Or at least they did last time I paid any attention to the PDL or BYU soccer.
Anyone see Berhalter get sent off over the weekend? Painfully slow.
He is painfully slow.
I am not opposed to bring in a 32+ year old player, as long as it is the right one. MLS seems to get these guys that have injury problems, are here for the wrong reasons(i.e. so the wife can be an actress, kids can go to American universities, nice golf courses, etc.). It impossible to tell who will turn out well. I would have thought Lothar Matthaus would have been a great addition to the league like der Kaiser was to NASL, but we all know how that one turned out.
Thats my concern about Zizou. He seems like he would be great fit, but then again so did Mathaus. I am sure someone will criticize me for comparing Mathaus to Beckenbauer and Zizou, but I doubt anyone can honestly say that they knew he was going to be totally worthless in MLS.
Owner of Fulham and a little store in London called 'Herrods' (some of you may have heard of it). Worth an estimated 555 million pounds(thanks wikipedia). Father of Dodi, the guy who dated(?) Princess Di and was with her the night she died.
