Posted Friday July 31, 2009, About: Cooper close to joining 1860 Munich
If I was a fair weather fan, i wouldn't support a mid-table second division team that isn't even the biggest club in Munchen. I just think Cooper worthless. If MLS is better than 2.Bundesliga(like some people here are saying), Cooper should tear it up. I don't think that will be the case.

Great, looks like 1860 is going down to the third division.
Posted Wednesday June 24, 2009, About: Stoke next in line for Owen?
Phil Brown is a complete tool. Stoke are a championship side w/o Rory Delap's long throws. I'd rather see Owen retire than play for a side that is only in the top flight b/c the Premiership refuses to cut down on the number of teams in the top flight.

Praying it goes to penalties is pretty weak and I am embarrassed that US fans have such low expectations.

Sure, Spain is the better team, but the best teams don't always win. It will take some luck for sure, but playing/hoping for penalties is pathetic. If the US players come out w/ that attitude, the game is over before it starts. Soccer is about scoring goals, not being a scared b!%@#.
Posted Wednesday June 24, 2009, About: Fulham may take Altidore on loan
He should have to earn his playing time where ever he goes, not be entitled to a starting spot. Why would any club sign a player w/ no intention of playing them eventually? Some players just never show enough in training to justify a spot on the field, which may or may not have been the case in Spain.

Its actually quite common for men to wear sarongs in some parts of the world. Ever been to South East Asia?

That has to be the second best GoldenBalls photo, after the one of him getting his neck wrung by Sulley Muntari.
Posted Monday June 01, 2009, About: Philly Union to sign keeper Coundoul
He was really popular w/ the fans in Colorado. Got too full of himself, turned down a contract offer from Colorado b/c he thought he could do better, now he is training in the soccer hotbed of Finland. I wonder how the Philly contract compares to the Rapids offer.

Could end up being 1st choice for Senegal as I've never been impressed w/ the aging Tony Sylva.
Posted Thursday May 14, 2009, About: Agent: Ronaldinho eyeing Milan exit
Did you mean to type 'I think' instead of 'as we all know' b/c I don't think Ronny can put it where he wants it every time. Maybe he just got excited, it was the WC against England afterall. I mean, David Beckham (perhaps you've heard of him) is known to be pretty accurate , but also has been known to send penalty kicks into Row Q.

I don't even think it was that badly mis-hit, it looks like he was trying hit someone making a far post run, it just floated too much, didn't curl enough, and ended up inside the far post instead of just outside it.

Not going to go that far, but one of 'dinho's biggest moments, scoring against England in the 2002 WC on that free kick, was a complete fluke. It was a botched cross that he put too much air under and not surprisingly David Seaman(will England ever have a gk not prone to massive blunders?) was out of position(he is coming off his line anticipating the cross).

Posted Wednesday May 13, 2009, About: Hill signs with Portuguese club
I've always wanted Hill to do well. Magath, the coach who sacked him, is leaving at the end of the season and it has been know for awhile. With a new coach, you think he might get another shot. Then again maybe he has just had it with Wolfsburg. As long as they keep Grafite and Dzeko, I am not going to be upset about Magath or Hill.

...on that play that he was red carded on....

that makes a little more sense.
Posted Thursday April 16, 2009, About: Pearce: I need to be playing
The US will never develop a top flight league or national team by subsidizing players like Pearce or Kamani Hill, assuming they'd even want to play in the MLS. That would only further complicate and politicize the player selection process. There would be pressure to pick those players being subsidized rather than the most talented players in the best form at the moment.

As for Berhalter, he got caught badly out of position of that play that red carded on, a player with decent speed would have been able to recover. If he continues to position himself so poorly(which I considered one of his strengths), he is done. There are room for slow defenders(see Costacurta in his later playing days), but not ones that can't properly position themselves to make up for their lack of pace.
Posted Thursday April 16, 2009, About: Pearce: I need to be playing
If this guy was right-footed instead of left-footed, no one would even know his name. He definitely wouldn't play w/ the national team.
Posted Wednesday April 15, 2009, About: Obama lends support to U.S. World Cup bid
It took someone 50 some comments to point this out.

US has a great chance to get a world cup if S. Africa or Brazil can't get their business in order in time.
Posted Monday April 13, 2009, About: Real Salt Lake to sign Espindola
Where did John Kerry come from? Who among us speaks like that?

BYU's soccer team actually 'quit' the NCAA and they now play in the PDL. Or at least they did last time I paid any attention to the PDL or BYU soccer.

Anyone see Berhalter get sent off over the weekend? Painfully slow.
Posted Tuesday March 31, 2009, About: Berhalter returning to MLS
1860 actually has one of the better defenses(in terms of goals allowed) in the 2. Bundesliga. Berhalter has started most of the time.

He is painfully slow.

I don't like the view that some European league players have on MLS. They seem to view it as a retirement league, like the Senior PGA or whatever they call it now.

I am not opposed to bring in a 32+ year old player, as long as it is the right one. MLS seems to get these guys that have injury problems, are here for the wrong reasons(i.e. so the wife can be an actress, kids can go to American universities, nice golf courses, etc.). It impossible to tell who will turn out well. I would have thought Lothar Matthaus would have been a great addition to the league like der Kaiser was to NASL, but we all know how that one turned out.

Thats my concern about Zizou. He seems like he would be great fit, but then again so did Mathaus. I am sure someone will criticize me for comparing Mathaus to Beckenbauer and Zizou, but I doubt anyone can honestly say that they knew he was going to be totally worthless in MLS.
Posted Monday March 02, 2009, About: Beckham, Ancelotti not long for Milan?
Um, you know who Mohamed Al Fayed is?

Owner of Fulham and a little store in London called 'Herrods' (some of you may have heard of it). Worth an estimated 555 million pounds(thanks wikipedia). Father of Dodi, the guy who dated(?) Princess Di and was with her the night she died.

Today is the deadline for MLS roster and salary cap compliance(aka cut down day). This got me thinking two things: One, you would think there might be some rumors floating around that could have been posted on T&R instead of this crap. Secondly, sucks for the Galaxy as DB is holding a roster spot and a chunk of salary cap space hostage.
