first, its a free site for you. they have to pay the bills. if youre not going to pay a fee to use it, ads are the practical way to go.

second, you guys must have some screwed up computers. at various times i use chrome, firefox, flock, opera and slim browser and have no problems at all with any of these browsers.

you need to get some computer clean-up software. cccleaner maybe. fixcleaner, some good antivirus software like avast, driver update to install current drivers so your chipsets, video and audio cards work correctly. and then maybe some hijackthis analysis, run msconfig and disable a bunch of unneeded software and services and then some spyware remover too.

dont blame the site if your computer is full of trash and youre not willing to spend a hundred bucks or so, plus maybe 10 hours of your time to clean it up and educated yourself on running a clean machine.

as far as internet explorer browser, its always an albatross and very slow.
