They've surpassed 500 yards in offense already this season. 500 yards through the air is not out of reach for this kid (although the Mountaineers are likely just focused on winning, not how much O they amass). Wait til this offense gets cranking in high gear (i.e. playing two consistet halves).
If they don't get a trade or signing, the Bucs will likely platoon Steve Pearce with Overbay and maybe give a AAA youngster or two (like Matt Hague) a shot in September. They could also try Doumit at first when he's healthy, but I shudder to think how that will go.
The Pirates have a core of good, young players such as Pedro Alvarez (who is really bangin' right now), McCutchen (the Andrew version), Neil Walker and Jose Tabata. If the FA pitching market were better (and the management wasn't so cheap, as discussed before and thoroughly), these guys could make a run at .500 next year. Yes, after two decades, Bucs fans will settle for mere mediocrity in 2011.
Heh. Dunno if I'd ever expect to see a Bananarama ref in a sports article. Is Shakespear's Sister next?
