1) when did I say anything you allege I said? Though you are right: The Yankees are good for the game and the business of the game.
2) Address the facts of the post.
3) learn to read and then think.

excuse me????????????????? try like $35 million or more to some of those so-called low revenue teams like the Marlins, Pirates and KC. Also they get what each other team gets in Central Fund money each year which is right now between $35 to $40 million.

Before they sell a ticket, pour a beer or fry a hot dog they have about $75 million in their pockets.

No they do not have access to the revenues teams in markets like NY, Boston, Chicago and LA have but they have acess to a lot more money than just a few million.

You want an example of a so-called small market team that right now is not doing too good but will be back in the playoff hunt then try Seattle. They consistentlyy put their money into their team and they almost have always have had a profit each year since 1999. and also ocntribut over $20 million a year in RS money to those other small market owners.

in my opinion Hallday is a proven quantity and Lee is going to be your basic three or four year horse who is going to slowly fade.

Lee's best years have looked so far with WHIP in parentheses: 14-8 (1.50); 18-5 (1.21); 14-11 (1.40); 5-8 (1.52); 22-3 (1.11) & 14-13 (1.24).

not too bad but except for a couple of years not exceptional either.

Now Halladay: 19-7 (1.19); 22-7 (1.07); 8-8 (1.34); 12-4 (0.96); 16-5 (1.10 ); 16-7 (1.24); 20-11 (1.05) & 17-10 (1.12)

By today's standards the guy is on the way to the HOF. but look at one other thing: the WHIP. Consistently is below 1.20 except for two years. To me Halladay's consistent and steady WHIP is a sign he won't fade and is going to be a good pitcher late into his career. I don't think you can say the same about Lee. too inconsistent.

And King Felix should have won the freaking CY this year and not Grienke in my opinion. And I agree he is the guy everyone should be after. Seattle should sign him to a long term deal now if thye haven't done so already. Right now I think he is arbitation eligible for two or three more years.

Why because an arsehole like yourself hates it when someone talks common sense of which you have none?
Posted Saturday November 21, 2009, About: Yankees keeping eye on Halladay
even the Yankees won't do that.

I hate to say this because it will just fuel all those who say "see the Yankees can just outspend everybody" BUT the Yankees have exploited the arguably biggest market in MLB and actually can afford anyone they want.

BUT... they also do have to spend money more wisely because ultimately while the NY Yankees are the driving force for other Yankees Global Enterprises' companies (YES and Legends Hospitality, etc...) revenues it would make sense if the NYY's themselves could also prove to be a positive revenue source for their investors (essentially, the Steinbrenners and Goldman Sachs).

Besides that it must get tiring to contribute over $100 million to other teams each year and watch those owners who are on the receiving end stuff the cash into their pockets.

Don't want Oswalt. Greinke may be too fragile to pitch in NY and Llee is maybe a year or two from going into a decline.

However if the Yankees can somehow get Halladay on the cheap.....

I agree with your opinion of Halladay being one of the top pitchers in the game, if not the best, but here were times in 2009 where he looked "ordinary" and a bit vulnerable out there on the mound. (I guess even Koufax during his great run of those six or so seasons that clinched his HOF plaque had some "ordinary and vulnerable" moments, also.)

That being said, I would think that until Halladay is either traded or signed long term we will be treated to at least one of these T&Rs a day of a team "keeping an eye" on the guy. I just don't know if he will be worth the king's ransom that the Jays will want for him. I think ultimatley he goes to a dark horse team no one is even considering being a favorite to land him right now. Sort of like how Santana went to the Mets when everyone had penciled in either the Red Soxx or the Yankees as the team who would land that ace.

Saying that a team is interested in a Scott Boras client is like saying a drunk is interested in drinking alcohol, considering that many of MLB's top players have hired Boras as their agent.

And the world transforms into another
I can hear the silence
The deep calm before the darkness
Shades turn to nothing
Shadows come to life
The sun goes down behind you
As I welcome you my night
