Posted Tuesday July 21, 2009, About: Reality show winner earns Cowboys roster spot
I thought within a couple of episodes that it was either Hawkins', Holley or Montrell's spot for the taking. None of the CBs seemed good enough in coverage nor seemed to make an impact in special teams in order to warrant a pick over those other guys. I feel had Montrell Jones come into the competition in better shape, he would have won it hands down, but he did that to himself.
As for Hawkins & Holley, honestly, I felt Hawkins showed more production week in and out on the show. He was an excellent special teams player as both a gunner & a return man and had very sure-handed tackling skills, especially for an extremely undersized player. Holley is a Larry Fitzgerald type and I believe once Jones was out of the competition (clearly one of Irvin's favorites), it was going to come down to what they wanted: size or speed. Holley has the potential to make the roster as a WR but I don't think he'll make enough impact as a special teams player to keep a spot.
In the end, had the Cowboys not invested in Austin Miles & Isiah Stanbeck, and had they not had the 3-headed RB beast, I think Hawkins would have won. Hawkisn special teams production is replicated by Felix Jones so that was a wash for the coaching staff to think of. But still, look at Wes Welker, Maurice Jones-Drew & Darren Sproles are accomplishing on the field. Their small size allows them to cut up the defense underneath.

So any defensive player trying to make a play on the QB can basically do nothing now to take him down. This is just great. How about the CC do something about all the chop blocks & leg whips that have ruined so many defensive linemen? How about stopping blocks to the head ala Ward's hit on Rivers? When will all the QB coddling end?
Posted Monday March 02, 2009, About: Scouts: Crabtree still top 10 pick
Let's face it, Crabtree will get his money at some point. If he stays in the top 10, he'll get a big contract. If he goes lower than that, I'm sure his agent will strike a contract deal to put his player in a spot with the opportunity to renegotiate or hit free agency after Crabtree has proved he can make it in the NFL (maybe a 3-4 year contract). The most important thing for him should be taking care of his body at this point. Remember David Boston? Elite level WR that succumbed to injuries (due to steroids) and was never the same player again. Health is first. The big contract will come one day.

What a total ****. But then again, what do you expect from a guy with hair like that?
Posted Wednesday February 04, 2009, About: Next Vikings QB could be...
Garcia would bring instant leadership to the team, although he's getting long in the tooth. But the guy is a leader & he always keeps his team in the game. Favre clearly has shown his lack of desire for the game in the last year and now he's having shoulder problems. Cassell is not the answer: almost any QB can be successful with two All-Pro WR's, a multi-Pro Bowl o-line & one of the best coaches in the game.
Posted Wednesday February 04, 2009, About: Why Ocho Cinco's a happy Bengal
Maybe he finally realized that nobody is willing to put up with his crap? Not only that, but since the Bengals are pretty bad, they'll always be behind, thus always in pass-mode and in turn, Johnson will get the stats he wants.
Posted Tuesday February 03, 2009, About: Haynesworth eyeing Falcons or Panthers?
Imagine Haynesworth in a Coach Smith led-defense that is built around DT's. If the Falcons could pull this signing off they will put their defense in the top 5 already for the upcoming season.
Posted Monday February 02, 2009, About: Did Bills owner keep Carter, Sharpe out of Hall?
I just don't understand how McDaniel, Ralph Wilson and Derrick Thomas gets into the Hall over Carter & Sharpe. I believe the Hall needs a new system of adding "contributors" to the game in a seperate voting process; this would open up more spots for actual NFL PLAYERS instead of guys like Tagliabu & Wilson.

Sharpe is the prototype for every TE you see on the field nowadays: amazing athlete who catches like a WR but blocks like a FB/o-linemen. As for Carter, he is only behind Jerry Rice in almost every single receiving statistic in the record books. For him to not get a spot is downright a slap in the face at everything the man stood for. Derrick Thomas, yes he was a pass rushing monster, but as far as run coverage & pass coverage, he was marginal, at best, but had the athleticism to overcome his positioning. I think him passing away prematurely also helped his chances. As for McDaniel, no offense to the man, but I don't think he is HOF worthy. Lineman have to be something truly special to make it into the HOF, and I feel McDaniel belongs in the Hall of Very Good. If you think McDaniel belongs in the same breath as future HOF'ers Larry Allen, Jonathan Odgen, Walter Jones, etc then you are truely mistaken.
Posted Monday February 02, 2009, About: Michael Irvin calls Rod Woodson 'soft'
I'm a Dallas fan and all, but didn't the Cowboys only face the Steelers once and that was during the SB? And if I recall, Woodson was coming back prematurely from a major knee injury and was no where near 100% in that game. Pretty dumb.
Posted Monday February 02, 2009, About: Will Warner return to Cardinals?
The man has nothing left to prove so leaving or staying is not a big deal. With that said, he needs to understand that the Cards will not fly under the radar next year and will have a much tougher schedule, so reaching the SB, let alone the playoffs could be a task in itself.

Oddly enough, I thought of Toomer as I typed that last message.
Posted Friday January 30, 2009, About: Jacobs: Plaxico kept us from Super Bowl
Good one Jacobs. Injuries are part of the game, especially idiotic self-inflicted injuries. Any team has a great shot at winning if injuries don't happen, but the actual GOOD teams still find a way to win; just ask the Pats.
Posted Friday January 30, 2009, About: NFL players ignore retired vets
The whole system is corrupt. The guys who built this game are getting nothing, and players & owners are saying they don't have enough money to pay them out and have even "cut jobs". That's total b.s. These teams bring in MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of extra revenue in each year, yet they're all stingy. It's not right what has transpired for the retired players.
Posted Friday January 30, 2009, About: Haynesworth won't take hometown discount
The man is smart. Either pay him up front at a discout so his post-football career is secure or expect to be bid on like other FA's.
Posted Friday January 30, 2009, About: Cardinals may listen to Boldin offers
Why not ransom off a malcontent WR for an embarassment of draft picks & riches? Steve Breaston has come on strong & the Cards could easily sign a veteran WR to help fill Boldin's role. Your in the SB, you have a chance to get rid of one guy in exchange for more players who you can mold to your team, why not do it?
Posted Friday January 30, 2009, About: Edge rewards himself with Lamborghini
I personally would have waited until after the game. Either A) you lose & it's a nice consolation prize or B) you win and it' san extra reward.
Posted Thursday January 29, 2009, About: Chiefs stuck with L.J.?
Eh, he had 2-3 good seasons but I'd attribute much of that to the o-line he & Priest Holmes shared. Now with an average line, you really see him for what he is. Plus the immaturity doesn't help.
Posted Thursday January 29, 2009, About: Dawkins wants to return to Eagles
If he's not back I'm sure there will be plenty of teams lining up for him. Watch out if he gets signed by the Pats! Belichick would love him.
Posted Thursday January 29, 2009, About: Toomer unhappy with Giants
Well, he'll be fine. There are many teams that will take a productive, possession receiver so long as he knows his place. He isn't a No. 1 or No. 2 anymore, but he's a solid No. 3 receiver on any depth chart. As someone stated, the Dolphins would be his best bet: the Parcells & Sporano passing schemes rely on possession WRs.
Posted Monday January 19, 2009, About: Why Rams passed on Garrett?
Great. Now nobody wants him. We're stuck with Garrett for at least another year. Effin' great.
Posted Monday January 19, 2009, About: Source: NFL upset with Steelers music
Philly is without a doubt one of those "classless" teams not mentioned who would have played the music. Maybe New England as well. lol. I wonder who the other 3 would be?
