Paterno is 23-7-1 against Pitt, so I'm pretty sure he's not afraid of playing Pitt. Nice try

Watch this video and tell me that Paterno is a figurehead:

It's a video of him at practice last year before he hurt his hip (demonstrating an onsides kick, no less)

I would argue that Penn State has some ammo, since OSU is only .500 (2-2) against them since 2005. They also beat OSU on their own turf last year and made Pryor cry.
Posted Friday January 16, 2009, About: Paterno's assistant staying at Penn State
JayPa is the QB coach and he hasn't done a good job in developing highly touted QB recruits (see A. Morelli). That's why he gets a lot of criticism. Also, he was never more than a benchwarmer when he played and a lot of people feel that he was given the PSU job solely because of who his father is, not based on his football knowledge or ability to coach.

Evans has a ton of talent, but just played like he wasn't interested this year. After the defense would come up with a big play, he never celebrated with his teammates and just seemed detached from the team. He had a great soph. year (12.5 sacks, 21.5 TFL), so I'm sure some NFL teams see his potential if someone can light a fire underneath him.
Posted Tuesday January 13, 2009, About: Recruit picks N.C. State over Penn State
I wasn't trying to come across as arrogant, I just wanted to make a valid point. Over the last 4 years, Penn state has won 40 games, 2 conf. championships, 3 bowl games, and is a combined 4-1 against the SEC, Big 12, ACC, and Pac 10. They've been more successful than NCSU. I'm sure he has his reasons for choosing NC State, but sme2thcwe makes it sound like it's a no brainer...like nobody would want to play for PSU.

Since when has Penn State had a coaching controversy? Play for the Big Ten Champions or a middle of the pack ACC school? Hmmm....
Posted Tuesday January 13, 2009, About: Recruit picks N.C. State over Penn State
Let's hope this isn't because Larry Johnson might be leaving. PSU's Maryland/DC/Virginia recruiting might take a big hit if he goes to Illinois.

You're right thought NWPA, it's funny how they only mention Penn State when he picked NC State over other schools too

Posted Tuesday December 30, 2008, About: Teams contacted Penn State coordinator
Galen Hall said this week that he's going to retire when Joe is no longer the head coach, so I would expect Jay Paterno to be the next Offensive Coordinator
Posted Wednesday December 17, 2008, About: Why Penn State extended Paterno
JoePa was still running (literally running) out of the tunnel in his late 70s. Can't say Charlie will be doing that. I think SI actually timed Paterno's 40 time as he ran out of the tunnel a few years ago and it was something like 10.5 seconds. Hilarious.

He and his wife donated $3.1 million to add a new wing to the campus library. I did most of my studying on the 4th floor of Paterno library when I was a student. There aren't too many schools that have a football stadium named after a university president and a library named after a football coach.

Sorry, I meant PA high school history

You also need to see where his family is coming from. Devlin has more passing yards than any QB in Pennsylvania history, which is impressive considering that guys like Marino, Montana, Kelly, Unitas, Namath, and more recently Kerry Collins, Marc Bulger, Charlie Batch, Chad Henne, etc... are from PA. He was a hot prospect coming out of high school, so I'm sure his expectations and the expectations of his family were that he would be a star in college and get to the NFL.

As a PSU fan, I had no problem with Devlin sitting on the bench because Clark has led the team and performed well this season. You can't argue with the results.
Posted Friday December 12, 2008, About: Iowa game snub led to Devlin transfer
"The only problem is that Clark sucks as a passer."

Clark is actually a very good passer (17 TDs and 4 INTs to go along w/ 11 rushing TDs). Devlin may have been a slighly better passer, but Clark was the right choice at QB this year. You really can't aruge with 11-1 and a conference championship.

If PSU can play field postion through special teams and create some turnovers, they have a good shot of pulling off the upset. If they're constantly having to go 80 yards to score, then they're in trouble. I think PSU's defense will hold them in the game, but they have to make plays on offense and special teams to win this one.
