Posted Tuesday April 07, 2009, About: Peavy won't talk trade
I still think he will end up a Brave at some point this year. Despite giving up some high profile prospects already in other deals, the Braves still have a loaded minor league system, and would still definitely benefit from his presence in the rotation. And when Hudson comes back - look out!!!

Braves could sure the hell use him!!!!

I think they still trade for Peavy too

I think Peavy is still quietly going to end up being traded to Atlanta. Once Braves sign Burnett (assuming they do, and seems as such), he will approve the trade to Atlanta. Peavy, Burnett, Vasquez, Jurrjens - pretty dog gone good, lol...
Posted Saturday December 06, 2008, About: Braves offering Burnett five-year deal
I know it's WAY early yet, as no 2009 baseball has been played yet, but I think Burnett is being underestimated, just my opinion, perhaps not many others opinion.

That's pretty damn funny!!!

I have only read up to this post when I added my comment here, but will read rest when done. I am in the thinking that the Braves successfully sign Burnett and still successfully trade for Peavy, and setting up quite an impressive startng rotation. And then at some point Hudson just kinda adds some icing to the cake, perhaps right at the right time, allowing rest for the other starters, and preparing for what will hopefully be the return to October baseball in Atlanta after a 3-year layoff.
Posted Wednesday December 03, 2008, About: Peavy may prefer Cubs
I have thought he would still be a Brave even when the Braves shut down trade talks, just on that daily repeated info of Braves offering best/most talent, etc. You couple that with the fact that he is not yet a Cub - come on! I think with Vasquez in place, Braves sign Burnett (only team offering 5 years?), and that is what persuades Peavy to definitely okay trade to Atlanta. Braves 2009 rotation: Peavy, Burnett, Vasquez, Jurrjens, and whatever pitcher they dont trade in Peavy trade (and maybe Tom Glavine and/or John Smoltz?!?!) In any event, should be a flash of Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz-esque rotation of 90s.

But seriously, I agree with jgb, in qutoe #3, if not Peay or Burnett, I would take a chance on Millwood, sure!

What about pat Jarvis, lol?
Posted Friday November 21, 2008, About: Peavy may stay with Padres
No one probably can or will match what the Braves have offered. But most articles still point toward Peavy either going to the Braves at some point or staying in SD.

Never!

I feel like Hampton has been effective as he could be, minus the injuries, in his Braves career. It IS unfortunate that he was so oft injured, but having not pitched in 3 years, I think he satisfied alot of Braves execs and probably alot of Braves fans, myself included, in his short '08 season. It is also unfortunate that once Hampton DID get back in the rotation was at the exact same time that Huddy went down. I think he will have a good year in '09, and I seriously hope that it's with the Braves.
Posted Monday November 17, 2008, About: Inside Padres-Peavy tug of war
I think that is a total possibility myself. Peavy is pretty smart, lol. He wants to make sure he isnt the only big-name pitcher the Braves get. I still think he will be a Brave. I am just upset that it didnt already happen keeping us Braves fans on edge for the last 6 weeks. All the comments about no one being able to compete with what the Braves have offered are pretty accurate. Maybe some sleeper can sneak in and do something, but from the thus-far big players in the Peavy sweepstakes, the Braves have definitely offered and can offer the most.

You must be a Padre fan?

LAST AGAIN - we haven't finished last since 1990!!!!

I can't necessarily speak on Lowe or Dempster, but I am certain that if the Braves get Peavy, that it would be a strong lure for any of those 3 guys to think about joining that rotation. Some combination of Peavy, Burnett/Dempster/Lowe, Jurrjens, Hampton, Glavine/Smoltz (If Smoltz isn't closer or even pitches in '09) Yeah, I realize there is age/health issues with TG and JS, but to have TG and/or JS as maybe 4th/5th/spot starters, WOW, that says alot, even though they are no where near they're old selves. Potential/former Cy Young award winners/candidates at the front end of the rotation followed up by numerous CYA winners/candidates, as well as two sure-thing first balot HOF pitchers in Glavine and Smoltz - AWESOME! Glavine could have a GREAT year with only maybe 8-10 wins, and simply add on to an already illustrious career!

My question is which of those 3 would I most wish to have wearing a Braves uniform?!?!?
Posted Thursday November 13, 2008, About: Are Cubs really interested in Peavy?
Braves have like $40-50 million to spend this off-season. I wish they had more, but that is quite a bit more than we have had in recent years. Braves should be able to successfully trade for Peavy and sign one of Burnett, Dempster, or Lowe

That's a good point too, the exact opposite of what I posted. It could be a silence tactic...
Posted Thursday November 13, 2008, About: Are Cubs really interested in Peavy?
I am a Braves fan, obviously, hoping to get Peavy from the Padres and re-establish the Braves as a pitching-focused team, but the longer the trade doesn't happen, the more frustrated I get. After reading this article, makes me wonder if someone in the media or in the Padres organization has used the Cubs, in essence, as competition in the Peavy sweepstakes against the Braves hoping it will cause the Braves to sweeten their already sweet package. For one, I don't wanna lose Escobar, but if it lands Peavy, I STILL say MAKE IT HAPPEN!
