I am glad Donovan said exactly the truth. Beckham obviously didn't play his heart out once frustration set in. The problem is that he is being paid LOTS of money to play hard, not just to stand around and look frustrated. I love European soccer, but I could do without the mentality that I deserve loads of money because of my talent. You either play or you don't. I don't care what you did or how talented you are suppose to be. So what if he has been in the World Cup or has been played at big clubs before, he is being payed by the LA Galaxy to play soccer now in MLS. He signed a contract and he is getting paid. Do you seem him giving back all the money? David Beckham is a man. He doesn't deserve anything he doesn't earn. Like I said, glad Donovan called him on it.

I went to a Rennes home match in January. They are a respectable club, with a nice stadium and good support. They also have a good group of players. In terms of French clubs, it is probably the best possible spot for an American land. The match atmosphere was also much better than when I went to a PSG home game

Yeah, because that is what Tottenham need, a slow midfielder, pretty boy, whose contribution is long crosses. Wait, Tottenham already have that player, David Bentley. And he is years younger and still sits on the bench.

Yeah, I think it would be good for Donovan to stay just because he is the most exciting player in the MLS. He can change games by himself here.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich seems like a weird fit, because it's one of the glamor clubs in Germany. He should try for a solid team that isn't always in the media spotlight like Bayern where can play without being benched for one bad game.

I don't know about you. But I am excited for this season in the MLS. I have been going to some Ligue 1 games this year and I can't wait to be back in the states and have soccer available just an hour drive away. I think the MLS and the Galaxy needed to outgrow the Beckham thing and his leaving may be the chance. Despite the media sensation, the MLS has grown into a viable league. It's not La Liga or the Premier League, but I don't think FC Nantes or Stades Rennes would waltz to the top of the table in the MLS.

Along those lines, can we get some CNNSI stories on promising players? Maybe someone who isn't on the National team roster yet? Or about tactics? You know about soccer players playing soccer. It's not called "transfer soccer." I hate to have to go to mlsnet.com to get any insight into the league beyond another european footballer is swooning over a "storied team" that is only storied because they have loads of cash.

I am glad Lieweke added that the Galaxy owned Beckham's contract so it was really up to them where he went. Enough of these bloated European teams and prima donna players who continually disregard legal contracts. I already don't watch any games involving the top two teams of each European league (unless my minnows have a chance to beat them) since they play by different rules. Can we get back to the sport please?

Sorry, Berbatov is class on the pitch. But off the pitch, he is a selfish whiner. Why do you sign a contract and take someones money if you are just going to turn around and sabatoge the organization for your own personal desires. Berbatov will never be good enough to make up for his lack of heart.
