I don't get that "points for assists" business either. Goals + assists = total points? but assists aren't goals but they count the same, AND you get to add them all together? What is this then -- a total of "offensive stuff points"?
Should we add Ruth's HR totals with his RBI totals, or with his total bases, or his nailed-women totals to get a grand total of offensive stuff points? Maybe since he was a pitcher for several years, he should get some stuff points for his pitching wins too? WTFjj.
As big of a womanizer as Ruth was, there's no way to know how many little Bambinos he left in his wake. I would venture that the real number is more than five the way he swung his off-the-field bat.
Not buying into the "Olympics and world championships" stuff from left. Baseball has neither unless you count the World Series which was/is certainly not international, so no opportunity for Ruth.
That's a basic sport differential and doesn't fly for comparing the 2 men IMO.
For us non-hockeyers, this kind of info is extremely useful, thanks. Need to understand some of the outside factors that contribute to statistical differentials.
For example on the baseball side, it's useful to note that what was known as the Dead Ball Era ended in 1919. Also, the previously widely used spitball was outlawed around the same time, and rules mandating that new balls be put in play, when previous games used essentially the same ball all game long, with softening/scuffing/discoloration having been detrimental for hitters.
Terrific start, this one could be a REALLY tough vote. So much potential to choose from, and both look excellent so far. May come down to descriptive eloquence to decide the vote.
Sticking with the Olympic theme, a good candidate might be Tonya Harding, the skater who, with her hubby Jeff Gillooly, hired a guy to whack Nancy Kerrigan's kneecaps with a pipe. Didn't work out, though, he only bruised Kerrigan who beat Harding easily in the competition.
On second thought, she was probably just a dumb bimbo. Never mind.
Right mainly touts a non-starter 16-team plan, and tosses jabs at left's plan but doesn't give a truly viable best-compromise plan IMO. Left's plan is likely workable, certainly more so than the 16 team.
But I feel an undercurrent of unfairness stemming from the difference in each side's original view of the TD's premise. Right took a broader view, although left was very accomodating in attempting to resolve the issue. Considerable problem IMO, not sure if I will vote or not.
These different scenarios will all be entertaining to argue merit, but there is no perfect system and none will please everybody, so in the end, the $$ flow will determine the system employed. Shocking, I know.
No shoulder injury listed? Football seems to have a pretty good number of those, and for QBs, could be career-killers. Rotator cuff, shoulder separations, broken collarbones, etc.
They named Wandy Rodgriguez as the Opening Day starter -- now I'm not saying Wandy doesn't have good days out there on occasion, but he's the best starter on the team? That's all you need to know right there.

Peyton gave his dad the finger and went to UTk. Black sheep of the family doesn't get my vote.
Excellent use of incredibly technical jargon. Brought it all down to my level, which believe me ain't easy.

I ALREADY said logic wasn't allowed, why are you saying it again?
;-)

'Stros going for the win-less-than-50 club this year, and I think they really have a shot. Nothing about them in the TD...?
Unfortunately for me, my wife is very adept at icing my puck for long periods.
