But this team is playing a different style of hockey that "Typically" translates into postseason success. It remains to be seen with this team but I like their chances playing more responsible defensivly vs the run and gun style they have done over the past few years most notably last season.
As a Caps fan, I'm not sure why everyone is so down on them in the playoffs.
Im not a blind homer, they have weaknesses but the way they have been playing after the allstar break is undenyable.
They are getting solid goaltending night after night by any of the 3 goalies they put in front of the net.
The power play is starting to click and the PK is top 3 or 4 the last time i checked.
Even with an injury riddled backline they are getting some solid defensive play and some help on the offense from the blue line.
They are getting additional scoring from the 3rd and 4th line.
I can not say they are going the distance without chuckling because you have to play the games but right now I'd say they have as good a chance as Pitt, Phil, Bos, TB.
Should be an interesting playoff in the east this year, no team is really dominate or highly favored like the Caps were considered last season. (Epic Fail) I would assume there are many 6-7 games series and close hard fought games throughout.
Ovie is lining up with Johanson at center more often the Arnott, Semin and Arnott are the one's who deserve more attention... Semin finally ringed one in late agaist the oilers in that 5-0 shutout but could have scored 15, he had a huge game and much of that success goes hand in hand with arnott on the ice with him.
Seems to me like ever since Arnott came to town Semin is playing like he owns the ice.
Alzner and Carlson have exceeded expectations and play great together, Green lines with Shultz typically, Green is not always the best defensivly but Shultz is an underrated player and green help adds pressure offensivly which can help defensivly. Then lastly Hannan and Erskine are a very respectable and reasonable 3rd line for defense.
I suppose Erskine could be replaced, but who ever we get in return would also need to be some sort of a bruiser, erskine is the man dood we have for that.
The caps are 5th in PK and 6th in goals allowed per game. The goalies have been playing well and a lot is due to the help they are getting from the d.
So I think a good center might be a better call, Backstrom is a very solid center, steckel is one of the best in the league for face offs, outside of that we have 2 young Cs being asked to do a lot of the work. Although both look promising they still need to do adapt and grow to the NHL.
even as a caps fan with any combo of green semin backstrom and ovie would be really nice in 2 on 2 this should never happen. and i doubt it ever would.
I think they would be better off arm wrestling or rock paper sciccors after regulation.
But he is not the number 1, which is fine he is still young and Vokoun can hopefully teach the kid a thing or two this year.

But in the end I like to think thier are people with more hockey smarts making the decisions. So we will wait and see.
The caps are already a fairly good defense.

Big question is, who could you get?
I think they would be better off arm wrestling or rock paper sciccors after regulation.
My bigger question is:
Is it hate because of a specific act, look, or just the fact he is jealous he is not as talented?
