Posted Sunday March 08, 2009, About: Mangini's costly Browns remodel
What a joke. $500,000?!?! You could've kept half of those employees on the books at $50,000 apiece. Mangini, you lazy ****. I can't wait to watch him destroy the already pathetic Browns.
Posted Sunday March 08, 2009, About: Rams trying to trade Pace
No way he gets traded, unless he's willing to renegotiate. I'm a Steelers fan and we desperately need a tackle, but I wouldn't want to give up anything more than a 6th round pick and a substantially reduced price. Sorry, STL, you're either going to have to keep him and his injury-proneness on the books or cut him.
Posted Monday February 23, 2009, About: Jets rookie has combine scouts wary
Bust? Jeez, give the kid more than a year. It's really hard for college defensive ends to become accustomed to playing OLB in a 3-4. Look how much Lamarr Woodley progressed in his second season. Maybe he'll turn it around, and as a previous poster said, if Rex Ryan can't do it, then he will be a bust. But give him some time. I completely agree, however, with the "workout warrior" portion of the article. Game tape and team interviews are a much better indication of future success than some isolated numbers.
Posted Sunday February 22, 2009, About: Raiders' high-dollar contracts irk teams
Trickle-down effect? Why don't these teams grow some balls and refuse to dole out these huge contracts? I guarantee you these contracts will have no effects on the operations of the Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Giants, or Chargers. You know, fiscally responsible front offices who will only pay what a player is worth. If teams want these ridiculous contracts to end, they have to ignore the artificially inflated ceiling created by Al Davis and only offer what a player is worth. Only the inept front offices will be affected by these signings.

Also, Al Davis is insane. Coupled with last year's contracts, it's clear that he has no interest in the long-term success of the team.

Posted Monday November 24, 2008, About: Titans' White sounds off on playing time
Lendale is tied for second in the league in rushing touchdowns. He is on pace for 16 touchdowns and about 700 yards rushing. That's a pretty good season. He's a perfect complement to Johnson and is playing for a legitimate Super bowl contender. I don't want to hear anything from him.
Posted Monday November 24, 2008, About: Eagles looking to Kolb in 2009
This is great for McNabb and bad for the Eagles. He has been unfairly berated by Eagles' fans for years now. I'm sure he would be welcomed by more than a few potential contenders (Vikings? Bears? Bucs?). A fresh start is the best thing for McNabb. Is anyone sold on Kolb, though? I'm certainly not.
Posted Sunday November 23, 2008, About: Why NFL won't change OT format
This obsession with ties has always annoyed me. A game should ALWAYS BE 60 minutes of fotball. Period. Anything after that compromises the integrity of a single game. If the two teams play to an equal score, it's a tie. Period. Put it in the books. It just means they played to an even score. What is so "stupid" about that? I say no more overtime.

I even think there shouldn't be overtime in the playoffs. In the even of a tie, both teams advance, unless they have already advanced on a tie, in which case they are eliminated (on the basis that in standings, two ties is equal to one win and one loss). If there is an odd number of teams in a round, the top seed who hasn't yet had a bye gets one. Simple.

So I say no more overtime, ever. Fixes all these arguments. Ties are not stupid, they are a competitive equality.

I have to assume you're kidding. I've read a lot of nonsense on message boards, but "compromis[ing] the integrity of a single game"? And if 2 teams tie in the playoffs, both advance? What about the Super Bowl? Surely you're joking.

I don't understand why they just can't play an extra quarter. That would assure that both offenses would have a chance to score. I don't think starting on defense is ever a good idea. Just ask Marty Mornhinweg.
Posted Monday November 10, 2008, About: Dilfer rips Browns for Anderson move
I have to agree with Dilfer here. The media and fans are so impatient. After last year, Derek Anderson deserves to at least finish the season. But no, the finger-pointing and blame game must begin, and DA has taken the brunt of it.
Posted Monday November 10, 2008, About: What's wrong with Roethlisberger?
It never fails to amaze me how short peoples' memories are on this discussion board. Last year, Roethlisberger had the second highest QB rating in the league. He has had his moments this year, but has been held back primarily because of the awful offensive line and Arians' baffling play calling. The Steelers are 6-3 and Roethlisberger will be just fine. Everyone needs to stop falling for these cooked-up controversies.
Posted Monday November 10, 2008, About: Saints benching Shockey?
Does it ever end with this guy? I don't get the ball enough, nobody appreciates me, the training staff caused my injuries, on and on and on. His "me-first" complex puts him right up there with the likes of T.O. I won't be surprised if he gets cut after this season. With a $3 million salary and a career journeyman outplaying him, Shockey may be complaining and riding the bench for another team in the very near future.
Posted Wednesday October 29, 2008, About: Giants could have kept Osi off IR
It was absolutely correct to place him on IR. It usually takes a year to recover from these injuries. Were the Giants supposed to keep a roster spot open for a guy who, in all likelihood, could not contribute this year? Just ask Shawne Merriman about playing with a knee that isn't completely healed.

Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Boldin's agent says trade only way
SafetyBlitz, I disagree with much of what you say. I agree that agents are a necessary evil; as much bad as they cause, they are also needed to take care of financial matters so players can concentrate on the game. I also agree that Boldin is nearly as valuable as Fitzgerald. However, I disagree with what you wrote in the third paragraph. Boldin has already been given a hefty raise once. Fitzgerald was nearing the end of his contract, so the Cardinals had to pay him or risk losing him. Also, the Cardinals were in the process of renegotiating with him, and he pouted and stopped negotiations because he had his feelings hurt by the inital offers. They have THREE MORE YEARS to come to an agreement, and he's already boo-hooing that their offer isn't acceptable. Finally, you're analogy to actual real-life work doesn't hold true. You are probably not obligated by a contract to stick around. Boldin is. Nobody forced him to sign the contract. How long will it take before players are holding out a few weeks after they sign their contract because others were paid more? It's going to happen at some point. Play ball, and you'll get your money. Shut up Anquan.
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Boldin's agent says trade only way
Depends on the pick. If the Cardinals take any less than Shepard and a first-round pick, the entire front office should be fired. And I don't pretend to know very much about the salary cap, but it could be damaging for both teams. Also, Philadelphia has been very reluctant to give receivers big money (Terrell Owens aside), which is the source of Boldin's troubles. Cowboys a more likely partner?
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Bills getting Pro Bowler back
Nice job Buffalo. A very Rooney-like way of handling this situation. Buffalo is certainly interested in renegotiating/extending his contract, but refusing to negotiate until he shows up at camp sends a strong message to all players. I bet Peters is feeling very embarrassed right now.
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Boldin's agent says trade only way
Wow, Anquan is really being stupid. With 3 years left on his contract, he has absolutely NO leverage here. He's certainly not going to sit out the final 2 years, and the Cardinals have no interest in trading him. Pouting and complaining will get him nowhere. I know he's insulted because of the low-ball offer the Cardinals offered, but that's the nature of the business. They'll offer to little, you'll ask for too much, and terms are reached that make both sides happy. Grow up, Anquan. The Cardinals will completely call his bluff on this (as they should).
Posted Wednesday July 30, 2008, About: Jackson wants more from Rams
robertkrz...."...running backs are one of the most easily replaceable positions in football.."

are u serious???

I certainly am. The Giants replaced a future Hall of Famer with 3rd and 7th round draft picks. The Steelers won the Super Bowl with an undrafted free agent replacing Jerome Bettis. The Cowboys got Marion Barber in the 5th. Bengals got Rudi Johnson in the 4th. Ryan Grant was had from the Giants for a 6th round pick. On and on it goes...They might not be able to replace Jackson with an equal talent, but they can get a very solid back through the draft/trade. So yes, running backs are easily replaceable.
Posted Wednesday July 30, 2008, About: Jackson wants more from Rams
The Rams have made a fair offer. He is a top-5 running back, and he should be paid like one. The Rams are trying to do that. I hope they adopt a take it or leave it stance with this guy. He's a great player, but running backs are one of the most easily replaceable positions in football. Keep crying Steven. Nobody cares.
