Hah, Toronto has a hard time finding players who want to go there because of the teams - convicts are good because they have less options.

Either that, or Ricky Williams likes Toronto weed. Dunno why he would though, since BC weed's supposedly a lot better.
Posted Friday August 17, 2007, About: Great One defends Oilers GM
Wayne's developing a habit of sticking up for real losers (*cough* RICK TOCCHET *cough*)

Let's see how the Gretz would feel if Lowe went after one of his young players (oh wait, his team doesn't have anybody that young and talented...)

Frankly, Lowe going after Penner is fine by the rules (a bit lame, but fine) - the thing is, he's ridiculously overpaying him, and therefore his roster is going to be hamstrung by a heavy payroll. It's the Bobby Clarke formula from Philly - further proof that great NHL players do not make good GM's.
Posted Friday August 17, 2007, About: Marlins uncertain of pitcher's future
The reason he's willing to drop him is because Olsen isn't THAT good a pitcher. His numbers haven't been all that consistent, and they trend more towards him being a serviceable player or a bust than a future great player
Posted Tuesday August 14, 2007, About: Mets eyeing Pudge, Posada
Does the Daily News have any sources, or are they just making up stuff again. Sooner or later, somebody has to do SOME research.
Posted Monday August 06, 2007, About: Marlins consider moving Ramirez
Isn't Hanley more or less tied up for like... the next 6 years at contracts under 5 million? The Marlins have a tendency to only sell players on the decline, I don't particularly see many players blossom more than they did in Florida when they leave.
Posted Friday August 03, 2007, About: Could holdout Strahan be traded?
He won't get traded. He'll just do a Junior Seau and "graduate."

Good riddance - the dude is too much of an injury risk, and on the decline of his career
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Teixeira or bust for Angels?
I heard Kotchman and Ervin Santana for Texiera, which is actually a pretty good deal (if Texas can figure out a way to make Santana a decent pitcher somewhere outside of Anaheim)

Texiera fits their team really well, since they have solid/accomplished talent everywhere else, for the most part. They're really looking like one of the teams to beat come postseason time.
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Rangers trying to unload Sosa
Texas Rangers trades to the Tokyo Giants: Sammy Sosa

Tokyo Giants send rights to 2 sushi chefs to Texas Rangers, to work in the Great American Ballpark.
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Leafs have Peca's asking price
Peca is a bit washed up. But that might just be because playing in Toronto is like playing in hell, but with meaner fans.
Posted Thursday July 26, 2007, About: Tigers interested in Yankees pitcher
The Tigers probably want Farnsworth to be a batboy, he really doesn't have much other use.

The question is, why would anyone want a 3 million dollar batboy?
Posted Monday July 23, 2007, About: Angels building package for Big Tex?
I guess it doesn't matter that Kotchman is a great player (especially defensively) who just seems crippled by insanely bad luck. The Rangers should push for Willits, too, then they can have a superpowered injury prone team.
Posted Monday July 23, 2007, About: NL exec: D-Train 'going down'
Doesn't really make sense why he's suddenly lost it. It's not like he's gotten injured, so is it really just that he's lost interest? Maybe because he's got a world series ring already, he has nothing to play for, so I don't think trading him is going to improve things
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: New deal for Steelers safety
Polamalu is a human missile. Glad to have him on the team.
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Can fan rally save Predators?
It'll be hard for Nashville fans to save it when they're normally dressed up as Red Wings fans
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Will Avs lure Forsberg home?
Did they change the picture or something? That actually is Foresberg
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Duck retirement undecided
Well, he's done everything he could ever want to do, right? what's left for him to do. He's got memorial cups, Gold medals, olympic medals, 4 (!) stanley cups, and he's won one with his brother. If he stays, it'll purely be for love of the game, and he'd be risking injury and time with his family.

If he stays, Anaheim has a stacked defense (Schnieder is one of the best, and he WAS too underrated, but his last contract nulls that) and if he goes, then Anaheim and the whole NHL should wish him the best of luck on the rest of his life. I don't see him as a coach or an announcer though, and it's not like he's been with Anaheim that long, so he won't do a Yzerman thing and become an executive with the organization, so if he quits, he's probably out of hockey.
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Forsberg encouraged by recovery
He should go to Vancouver. A season with the Sedins has revived many a stump's career.
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Newest Net: NBA's gotten soft
This from a guy who claims he loves his country but refuses to play for the National Team. From a guy who wants playing time but is perfectly happy collecting a multimillion check to sit on the bench because he won't bust his *** and actually DO something in practice? A guy who has no offense and no defense and whose only real talent is collecting 6 fouls and getting blocks that are borderline goaltends? Garbage in, Garbage out, and everyone wonders why the Nets suck despite the talent.
Posted Tuesday July 17, 2007, About: Wings want to extend next captain
Zetterberg has everything you'd ever want in a captain - he scores big goals, he plays solid D, he takes a lot of responsibility.

He's one of my favorite players, and he's on my favorite team, so I hope he is there for a LONG time
Posted Friday July 13, 2007, About: Goalie deals hurting Senators?
Emery is a fine goalie.

When I saw that headline, I immediately thought of Martin Gerber.
Posted Friday July 13, 2007, About: Are Red Wings looking at Yashin?
I called this! And Yashin would be a good fit, if they get him cheap. It's not like he doesn't have the skills when he wants to play - just do like Hasek and make the contract incentive driven.
