OSU's athletic department revenue 101.5 million for fiscal year
OSU's football and mens BB revenue 47.6 million
OSU's football spent 8.6 million
OSU's football revenue 35.9 million
OSU's MBB spent 2.8 million
OSU's MBB revenue 11.7 million
As you can see if you combine the football and mens basketball surplus you would have 36.2 million. This pays for the other 34 sports in the athletic department that can't pay for themselves. This was based on 2006 fiscal year and this year will be different. I buy any company that would provide the kind of returns the football and MBB program generates.
Please get off you mom's computer its time for you to get on the school bus. First of all does Kansas even have a football program? Let's take a look at Kansas's athletic departments financial stability (mostly basketball I quess). Only a small handfull of football programs even pay for themselves. The OSU football program makes enough money to pay for the other non-profitting sports that have scholorships. This article did not say that the football program lost money it said the athletic department did.
Good luck PSU
The first two years for Charlie what did he have? He had Ty's recruits and went to two BCS bowl games. What has he done lately after he starting bringing in his recruits...9 and 15. The big difference between Jim and Charlie (besides 100lbs and that is being kind) is Jim can also coach. Charlie can recruit but can't coach yet and hasn't proven to me he can coach pre-NFL (young college kids) talent.
Moral of the story recruiting is only half the equation...the other half is coaching.
Clearly two high profile programs going in different directions. Thanks for bearing with me.
If you know so much more about Michigan than Michigan fans then tell me the last time Michigan won a National Championship. It was back in 1997 and they have been ranked in the top five several times since, just like Navy (ha ha)...And Michigan was ranked #2 heading into the last game before getting beat by #1 Ohio State in 2006, just like Notre Lame (ha ha).
Spend more time educating yourself about college football. By the way I am a buckeye fan 24/7 and don't spend much time defending Michigan but when someone compares Michigan to Notre Dame or Navy because of one season that is an insult to all Big Ten fans.
Rich Rod has done something Brian Ellerbe and Tommy Amaker have not been able to do...Make Michigan a basketball school.
Fear the Beanie.
Go Beanie, we love you either way you decide.
