The Columbus youth hockey community is large and "tight" which creates interest in the NHL team located there. I think the youth hockey popularity in Columbus is why NHL team does well. Youth hockey was strong before the Blue Jackets arrived. This equals success. Interest in hockey starts at the "roots" which are the kids who play the game. You have to have that foundation to flourish.
1996 - 35,000 fans turn out for a rally to keep the Jets in Winnipeg.
2009 - 200 fans turn out for a rally to keep the team in Phoenix.
Hello? Am I missing something? It cannot be that difficult to understand. Move them out of Phoenix. I mean, 200 fans? Really??
But, they need to do something quickly.
