It was known that the Yankees still had the room to pick up Teixeira without going over their 2008 pay roll, so this really should have been expected. You don't think the Yankees were really going to go into their new stadium on team that cost less than they had did ya? Now they might be planning on spending more than they did last year, which would mean adding Manny and creating a lineup that could cause a lot of 5 hour games.

I am pretty sure that Manny's contract with the Res Sox was 8 years/160 million. He was known as a very good hitter then, but not as the prolific house hold name he has become now...similar to Teixeria is known as a very good hitter and defensive player now...still early in his career. The strange thing is the money for such a bat has not increased over the last 8 to 9 years.

With CC and Lowe not seeming too enthusiastic about being very rich Yankees...we may have to go after Tex and Manny just to be able to compete for the playoffs...it could work, but wont win the ring.

CC is obviously not too excited about being a Yankee....to sit back and not do anything when you can become the richest pitcher in MLB history AND be a Yankee...he doesnt want to come here. I dont think Lowe want to be a Yankee either...since he said how he would love to go back to the Red Sox. If we get Burnett...big deal...he will be on and off the DL and putting up 2008 Pettite-like numbers. I have a feeling we are going to end up going after Tex and Manny to power our way through the season. It could work too....

Theo is cold, but he's not dumb...Youk isnt going anywhere for quite a while. Youk leaving the Red Sox woud be a cause for celebration just as Manny was (in Yankees fans minds). If Youk were a Yankee...I would be happy.

seeing how the Red Sox dispatched Nomar, Lowe, they low-balled Damon....they probably will let Varitek walk. Manny is a monster batter...and they decided he was too much trouble to keep...so Varitek could easily be too old for them now.

Trading Cano for Hudson doesnt seem to add up. He had a down year after signing a very nice contract, which seems to be a fairly common disease. This is a crap article. If they are going to get rid of Cano via trade it will be in a package deal to get Peavy.
