Posted Wednesday October 14, 2009, About: Will Bradford return for senior season?
I really don't get all this Bradford bashing....whether or not he should have won the Heisman has no bearing on his NFL potential. All the qbs mentioned here are excellent college players- McCoy, Bradford, Clausen, Tebow, Locker etc. Bradford stands out to me as the most NFL ready because of his maturity. Its true that OU qbs genereally put up good numbers regardless of whether or not they were NFL material. However, when you compare Bradford's freshman season to say, Rhett Bomar (who was more touted and had "better tools"), Bradford stands alone. His ability to read defences and get rid of the ball quickly are unparalled. You could make a case that Colt McCoy was better in college, but he lacks the arm strength and consistency that Bradford has shown, (take McCoy's sophomore year and his relatively dissappointing play so far this year). I really respect Tim Tebow. You could make a strong case for him being one of, if not the best college players of all time. However, he just doesnt fit the NFL mold. He might be taken in the first round, and he might prove me and everyone else wrong...but I just don't think he has the make-up of a succesful NFL qb.
Posted Thursday January 15, 2009, About: Will Carroll talk Sanchez into staying?
i wouldnt call him a jerk....but he should fight for some of his players.
i think sanchez should stay. he will finish his education, and if he is a veritable talent like the NFL thinks he is, hell be a #1 pick next year as well. I think he needs another year to develop his talent.
Posted Friday January 02, 2009, About: Will regrets keep Beanie a Buckeye?
BTW, Shonn Green was the best back in the Big Ten this year. Just because Wells has more pro potential doesn't necessarily mean that he was the best running back in his conference. Take Matt Stafford: could become the first qb taken, but that doesn't mean he was the best in the country, or even the SEC for that matter
Posted Friday January 02, 2009, About: Will regrets keep Beanie a Buckeye?
I think Beanie is pretty darn good. I can understand why he is highly rated: good speed, good size and good between the tackles. I think he should go for the practical reasons above...but you couldn't fault him for wanting to have fun for one more year in college.

Biminator, I still have yet to discern the logic behind your comment. USC played both Penn State and Ohio St (1 and 2 in Big Ten) this year and DESTROYED them both. Regardless of whether or not it was a home game, both teams were clearly outclassed by USC's athleticism. If they lost by a slim margin or the games were closer, then maybe your argument would have some merit. If USC loses next year away against Ohio State, then I'll concede that they are the better team. Thats an integral part of sports...the best team is the one that comes out and performs better REGARDLESS of the circumstances. USC doesn't deserve to be in the national championship this year because they underperformed in a game that they should have won.

for sanchez's sake i hope he stays. i feel he needs one more year of starting to be ready for the NFL.

dang this is intense...In my opinion, this year was a prime example of parity between the conferences in the fbs and a good example of why we need a play-off system. Unlike in past years where the SEC has been dominant, there really is no conference in my mind that stands out as the best. Obviously the pac 10 and the big east were pretty bad, but every other conference was pretty even.
To the miami fan that keeps talkin shi* to the gators...im an acc fan. i live in north carolina. the as a football conference, the acc doesnt have anything on the sec even on a down year (it is getting better tho). Im a huge tar heel fan, but i wouldnt heavily bet on us beating any sec team other than miss st or a couple of bottom feeders. the miami teams from 01 and 02...yea they could match up really well against the gators...now...the gators would kill them. There is no way that marve or harris or cooper could put up enough points to win against tim tebow and the gators. in a few years i could see a good battle because shannon actually is doing a good job of revitilizing the canes. but the same could have been said about charlie weis back when he had quinn...i wouldnt talk smack when youre team isnt nearly on the same level as florida or alabama, or oklahoma, or anyone in the top 15.
Posted Wednesday October 29, 2008, About: Is Leinart's future in Arizona?
People are calling it deja vu because rodgers was considered a bust by many people like the cynicists commenting above, when he didn't even have a chance to play because he was stuck behind a legend. I wouldn't call it deja vu, but there are similarities. Leinart was one of my favorite college players of all time...however I don't think the verdict of "bust" should be handed out so easily just yet. He may indeed be a bust, but let him earn the F before you so hastily hand it out. Leinart started his rookie year when I really don't think he should have. Warner was a better passer then, and is still a better passer. Leinart will get his chance, and then you can decide whether or not he is a bust. The Cardinals would be stupid to start Leinart.
Consider this: Would you start Leinart over Ben Roethlisberger, Donovan McNabb? All of their ratings are lower than Warners. Why stop something so good? Warner is the #2 most productive QB in the NFL right now, and has 2 super bowl rings and several MVP's on his resume. He is OBVIOUSLY neither washed out or a career journeyman.
Also:Last year, would you have started Brady Quinn over Derrick Anderson when he was leading the impressive Browns offense to a 10-6 record?
Posted Tuesday September 30, 2008, About: Young to return as No. 3 QB
I like Vince Young a lot despite beating my team in the Rose Bowl (im still angry about that haha). I was, however, very skeptical of his passing ability, as his junior year in college was really the only year he was an above average passer (he always had the big play ability, but he threw a lot of bad passes). I never really have jumped on his bandwagon in the NFL simply because he just isnt up to par yet as an NFL qb...That said I really hope he can learn how to lead and become a force in the league. Ive always said that he was someone who needed to be developed espcially after skipping his senior year, and I think that he really hasnt had anyone to learn from.
Posted Saturday September 27, 2008, About: Jackson blasts Bulger's benching
Bulger is a good qb...look at his years when he has a solid o line. Steven Jackson isn't producing like he has in the past.....and hes not getting benched. It isn't jacksons fault that there is no o-line..I don't understand where Linehan is coming from at all. To me that is like punishing Bulger for mistakes that Linehan has made...completely wrong on all levels imo
Posted Friday August 22, 2008, About: Cal names starting quarterback
dang i was thinking longshore would start..riley is amazing though.
Posted Thursday August 21, 2008, About: Pryor's unusual throwing motion
hahaha
going back to Pryor..I am not a Terrelle hater, but I'm having trouble seeing how he was such a highly touted prospect when he only completed 50-something % of his passes during his junior year. does that have much effect on high school recruitment as it does in NFL scouting? i understand that he has a big arm and incredible talent..but still, i thought decision making and consistency were vital
Posted Wednesday August 20, 2008, About: Pryor's unusual throwing motion
These comments are pretty funny. Honestly, I have respect for BOTH the SEC and the Big Ten. It's obvious to anyone that the SEC is better than the Big Ten right now...but that doesn't necessarily mean that every team from the SEC could annihilate a Big Ten team. I personally don't like OSU, but they are still a very good football team, as is LSU. As for USC v. OSU, it'll be a battle, but I feel that USC will win because their explosive defense. Our offense might have some trouble at first, but in the end I think itll be all good.
Posted Saturday August 16, 2008, About: Boller, Smith leading Ravens race
I hope troy gets it...i dont think flacco should start considereing he went from Division 1-AA to the NFL...that would be a bit overwhelming.
Posted Wednesday August 13, 2008, About: Dolphins shopping McCown, Beck
well Beck's only played a year...if he doesn't do anything this year then you can call him a bust.
Posted Wednesday August 13, 2008, About: USC offense struggles in practice
I'm quite certain that Rey Maualuga's feelings are going to get hurt as he is pummeling Boeckman into the ground. As for struggling, yeah our offense has to reload...but it didn't it have to reload when Leinart became the starter?
