Hmmm . . .

Harder to coach in a conference than as an Independent. They rode that independent pony for a few years but they been declining ever since the rest of the ACC started picking their game back up. Florida being on probation and Miami being in trouble also made him a "genius" as he got kids that he would not have after he joind the ACC, now he's losing in state talent to UCF and USF, Alabama, Tennessee . . .

We love you Bobby, but when it's time it's time. Nothing sadder than someone wearing out their welcome, well maybe a 50 year old guy hanging out in college bars . . . .

Leach might take it, might be angling for a new contract. Gary Patterson is a helluva good coach.
Posted Wednesday November 05, 2008, About: Tennessee commitments wavering
Aside from the support added by this post to the notion of the quality of the UT education, is it really possible for Fulmer to take credit for that many years of success after Majors left?

Johnny Majors had 8 seasons of even or losing ball in the SEC. He had an overall winning record of 56.7% (adding the ties equally to the win and loss column in all his jobs).

This "great team" he built lost three games under his tutelage in the season he "left", yet was 3-0 under Fulmer. Oops! Same team, diametrically opposed results.

Fulmer is the second winngnest coach at UT, Majors the third.

Tennessee finished outside the national rankings in ten of Majors' years there. Count 'em, ten.

In 13 years at other schools he had one great year (12-0 at Pitt) and one "decent" 8-4 year--period. He failed miserably at rebuilding Pitt.

Sounds like Tennessee was a better spot to recruit then Majors was coach to coach it.

He was a decent coach for sure, but great? No, not really. He's no Saban, no Bowden, no Spurrier, no Tressel, no Richt, no . . . .

Yes. An education like no other.

Oh America, they educative voice is in Tennessee! Send only thy intellectual recruits thence to be crowned with the glory of a UT degree!

DAUPHIN
What a long night is this! I will not change my
horse with any that treads but on four pasterns.
Ca, ha! he bounds from the earth, as if his
entrails were hairs; le cheval volant, the Pegasus,
chez les narines de feu! When I bestride him, I
soar, I am a hawk: he trots the air; the earth
sings when he touches it; the basest horn of his
hoof is more musical than the pipe of Hermes.

ORLEANS
He's of the colour of the nutmeg.

DAUPHIN
And of the heat of the ginger. It is a beast for
Perseus: he is pure air and fire; and the dull
elements of earth and water never appear in him, but
only in Patient stillness while his rider mounts
him: he is indeed a horse; and all other jades you
may call beasts.

Constable
Indeed, my lord, it is a most absolute and excellent horse.

There's a Bowden available . . . heck, there's two or three.
Posted Thursday September 11, 2008, About: Sapp calls Urban 'classless dirtbag'
The most classless team in College Football History, Miami, and a product of their outrageous, lawless past (Sapp), are whining?

Nothing is worse than a bully who whines and pouts.

Losing those 4 linemen this season hurt worse. I think he will start getting his kind of guys though and he pushes guys like Meyer and Carrol and Saban do. He's going to win a lot of games there, but this year . . .

Well Utah has a decent D (especially on the line), not like Michigan's, but fair. If Michigan whips them, they might have it together.

Proximity to Virgnia? In State? Tech and UV are the top two contenders, with Florida likely a close third as an out of state choice.

Michigan will be OK eventually. I think the big loss was those 4 linemen. But Rodriguez will get lean and mean linemen who want to play his style of ball and Michigan will be awfully dangerous with their recruting power and that offense. They have always recruited superb Defensemen. They might be very, very good in a couple years.

Look at Meyer, everyone poo-pooed him in the SEC. Now that everyone's copying his offense, can we say he was not entirely errant?
