Was it a bad call? Yes, it was. Should SD's defense stopped Denver from scoring twice on the same play to win the game(TD, 2pt con)? Yes. Ed is one of the best in the NFL, the league is really hanging him out to dry on this one. The inadvertent whistle issue has come up before and the league did not fix it. Maybe league officials should show some balls and admit their mistakes as well. As far as SD, I feel bad for them a little (Colts fan, here), but the bottom line in being 0-2 is a defense that isn't even near what it has been the last few years. It takes the ability to stop the other team from scoring that wins games and ultimately championships in the NFL.

Is there really a UConn fan on here talking $hit? What have they ever done in football. Why don't you wait a couple of months and then start talking basketball (women's). That being said, the win over UM was not the beginning of a comeback for ND. 35-17, with UM not scoring a single point in the 2nd half, is hardly almost losing a game. By the way, as far as scheduling goes ND is consistently towards the top as far as strength of schedule. But one year of scheduling some weaker opponents (like ALL teams do!!) is something to mouth about?? People really lose their intelligence when it comes to bashing ND. Hell, even most USC fans show more intelligence and knowledge of the game (your welcome arejaydub)
Posted Sunday September 14, 2008, About: Notre Dame's modern-day Rudy
It really makes me laugh to read some of these posts. Escpecially from the UM and SC fans. As far as SC goes, ND still holds a commanding lead in the overall series and also has the most consecutive wins. The point is everything in college football is cyclical and only an idiot believes otherwise. At some point even the "mighty trojans" will fall back on their faces. And for the UM fans, hell you guys still can't beat OSU (who got smoked by SC last night), so the "join a conference" thing is really a joke. The Big Ten is fast becoming overrated ( a word I believe you use for ND), so what good would it do to join a conference that gets beaten by the SEC and Pac-10 on a regular basis? Any intelligent answer would be appreciated.

It may have been gift wrapped, but a win is a win. We didn't play particularly well, especially in the second half, but 2-0 is a hellavu lot better than 0-2. I'm worried about the runinng game (or lack thereof), but the pass protection is a lot better than it was last year.

There are very few QB's that come out of college ready to start for any NFL team and the ones that are still take their lumps early on ( Elway, Manning). The reality is that VY is not an NFL starter at QB. GM's get overhyped with the college games and are too stupid to realize that a great college QB does not necessarily make a great NFL QB. I saw this a mile away when they drafted him ( I liked him in college and was glad that he beat USC, but could tell that he was not suited to play QB in the NFl). And if someone with my "limited" football intelligence can see that maybe I should be GM!

I've got to be absolutely bored outta my mind to be posting on a Jessica thread. What does she have to with football? Oh yeah, she is clouding the mind of a certain young QB who is supposed to lead his team to a Superbowl this year. Now I understand
Posted Saturday September 13, 2008, About: T.O.: McNabb resented me
I just thought this was the thread for all of the great but whiny, crybaby receivers who have never won a superbowl and are still considered the greatest players in the game

Is this the Randy Moss thread? Oooops, my bad wrong place.
Posted Tuesday September 09, 2008, About: Did Young quit on Titans?
E$, I agree with you about the Titans receivers. they are way too inconsitent for that offense to look anything but average at best no matter who is the QB
Posted Tuesday September 09, 2008, About: Did Young quit on Titans?
Vince Young is overrated only because idiots who can't tell the college game from the pros thought he could be succesful and do the same things at the next level. Vince was a good (maybe even great) college QB, but his skill set does not translate into greatness in the NFL. The kid has way too much pressure put on himself and obviously needs help. I hope he gets it. And let's not forget that Leinart is also a huge bust. People tend to forget that for every Peyton Manning there is a Ryan Leaf.

Samuels is a good O-lineman and i've never heard of him having any problems with being called a dirty player. the game was over. so some of the blame lies with Kiwanuku. Pre-season is over and every one is supposed to go at it full speed for every play. Game over and if Samuels hadn't got him down, who's to say he doesn't put Campbell out with a hard hit on last play of the game. Either way, i don't believe Samuels was trying to injure him intentionally.
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Mangini open to Pennington return
I would find that very entertaining. The Jets are awful for a wide number of reasons, not just the play of Pennington. I guess that's just part of being the QB on any team. More credit than deserved when you win and more blame than you deserve when you lose. I would like to see anyone in the AFC east knock the Pats of their perch (one can dream can't they?)
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Hall calls Ewing, but Knicks don't
Larry might not be that great of a GM, but he did a hellavu job as coach (the only appearence in the finals by the Pacers). I've never liked the Knicks, but always respected Patrick for the way he played. He was a great player and leader for that franchise and it's a shame they don't want to give him a shot at a position ( assistant coach, media relations, etc.). Just another example of the lack of loyalty in pro sports.
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: Boldin's agent says trade only way
Boldin is a good receiver (maybe top 10 in the league), but i believe they have already reworked his deal once since he's been there (could be wrong). They aren't going to trade him anytime soon and if he shows a bad side like not playing hard and trying to win ballgames (which the Cards don't do alot of with him or without him), what team in their right mind would want him? If he wants out that bad, play ball and allow the Cards to get some value in a trade later on down the road.

I agree with you 50yearfan, if you cannot protect the QB (whether Brady and Manning or anyone else) your offense will sputter. It's a cold hard reality for the majority of teams in the league.
Posted Friday September 05, 2008, About: Ocho Cinco calls out Ravens
I think Chad is hilarious! If you pay any attention to what he does, he is just having fun and playing the game. I like the direction that Cleveland is heading. My Colts were the very same way for years before we actually built up a decent defense (watched alot of 48-35 ballgames back then)

Lesson learned on that one Oso
Posted Tuesday September 02, 2008, About: Jaguar hospitalized after shooting
That was not my intention. I wa merely stating that these types of incidents seem to happen more and more frequently. I actually feel bad for the guy and have never stated that he did anything wrong. I guess I did get up on the soapbox a little bit, lol
Posted Tuesday September 02, 2008, About: Jaguar hospitalized after shooting
To make this plain as I possibly can, nowhere did I state that he wasn't a victim (because he was). I was just commenting on athletes in general today more in response to earlier posts.
Posted Tuesday September 02, 2008, About: Jaguar hospitalized after shooting
That was basically the point I was trying to make, Oso
